andemonium began in the Eastern Bye Pass area of Kano early yesterday when security agents under the military Joint Task force, JTF,

arrived the area to conduct a house-to-house search. A resident of the area, who spoke to Premium Times over the phone, said the security agents were conducting the search in apparent manhunt for members of the Boko Haram sect.

“They have been here since morning, searching for insurgents and weapons,” he said. He added that the agents may have a point in conducting the search there because it has lately become notorious for incessant attacks.

A security source said that the security agents were convinced that most of the insurgents operating in Kano reside around the area. However, reports say motorists plying the Eastern Bye Pass up to Hotoro, who noticed the

large presence of security agents in the area, panicked and started driving in all directions which caused heavy traffic build-up in most of the adjoining roads. “Everyone was confused because no one could tell what was Contd on Page 2

here are strong indications that the much publicised Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nationwide reconciliation tour might have failed as it did not meet the desired goals. Competent party sources hinted yesterday that the development prompted the decision of Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih, to embark on a fresh nationwide campaign, pleading with the governors for a more united house. Anenih, in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, yesterday came short of going on his knees as he begged Governor Sule Lamido not to join the league of alleged aggrieved PDP governors who may dump the party for the opposition. Although the Jigawa Governor reportedly gave Anenih his words on the sanctity of having one united PDP, Lamido’s 2015 presidential campaign posters flooded the streets of Kaduna yesterday, a glaring confirmation that the Contd on Page 2
