Council (NEC) meeting yesterday that the approval was announced by the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Yerima Ngama. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, had said it will seek a final constitutional interpretation of all matters relating to the Excess Crude Account controversy between the federal and state governments. The forum’s Chairman and Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, said on Tuesday in Abuja that the body would seek “a final resolution from the Supreme Court” on all matters relating to the controversy. Mr. Amaechi said this was because the NGF had been dissatisfied with the “present attitude of the Federal Government on the Excess Crude Account’’. Ngama also briefed the Council on the State of the Excess Crude Account which he said has a total balance of $9.242b, after $1billion was spent on subsidy payments.
