American University Yola’s New President pledges to add value to education

Yola, Dr.DeWayne Frazier has pledged eto use the best American and Nigerian concepts in moulding the minds of under graduates for greater human and social developments in the African Continent and the world at large.

Dr.Frazier made the disclosure in Yola Thursday during an interactive session with journalists regarding his assumption of office as the president few weeks ago, stressing that his vision is to ensure that,the University’s feat of performance is taken to the next level better than he made it.

Frazier charged the students especially Nigerians to count themselves lucky for having the support and opportunity to further their education to higher level which will impact their families and country as a whole.

As the sixth President of the University since inception in 2003,Frazier said he will be using his first six months for learning both the American and Nigerian educational systems and statdards so as to blend the two together for desired outcome of American education style. He stated that education is the best weapon used in changing the world noting that AUN as a development institution is just doing its part as a catalyst in education sector.

“This dream, the dream of an American University right here in Nigeria is one of the most important and profound in 21st century Nigeria education.

“Our students get the best of both worlds,a University with a uniquely designed American curriculum that focuses on a student learner-based system full of real world experience and classroom engagement that you will not find outside the walls of our campus”. Frazier added.

The president appealed to all and sundry to support and cooperate with his new leadership in the University so as to achieve the desired goal of developing our children and societies for global challenges.

Earlier in his response, Chairman of the Correspondents’Chapel of NUJ,Adamawa state chapter,Mr. Padio Phineas promised to maintain a harmonious working relationship with the University especially in information dissemination.
