Jigawa women lauds Malala fund for assisting 500 flood victims

The group of women popularly known as Small Women Farmers Association of Nigeria (SWOFAN) Jigawa state chapter, commended Malala Fund for supporting 500 house-led women who are victims of flood disaster in the state.

The commendation was made by the representative of SWOFAN Hajiya Halima Abdullahi during the distribution of the items held at Ringim local government area.

She explained that, the relief support that comprised both cash of N20,000 and non food items will make serious impact on the victims.

Hajiya Halima also called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support for the improvement of their lives and their families at large.

The support which was distributed through myIT consult was aimed at reducing the pain caused by the flood disaster across the state.

Speaking to journalists shortly after flagging-off the distribution at Ringim local government Secretariat, the Chief Director myIT consult comrade Mubarak Yusuf said, the beneficiaries where selected from three local governments of Auyo, Taura and Ringim local government areas.

“As part of MALALA Fund’s effort to support out of schools girls and flood victims, the cash of twenty thousands naira and non food items was distributed to 200 women in Auyo, 150 women from Taura and 150 respectively from Ringim local government”, he said.

He said, the non food items comprised matrass, bucket, pads, shoes, cleaning items, bed sheet, touch light among other emergency items.

Comrade Yusuf, then urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items and report anybody who request any kobo before choosing them among the beneficiary.

The Director also called on both government and Jigawa people to imbibe habits of flood prevention measures to avoid such occurrence in the future.

While making his remarks on behalf of Ringim people, the youth leader Malam Mustapha Patoma, commended Malala Fund and urged other philanthropists to emulate from Malala.
