Atiku calls on INEC to declare Governorship election result as SDP rejects the result in Adamawa

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to with immediate effect announce the 2023 governorship election result for Adamawa state.

Abubakar disclosed the development at a press conference in Yola Monday expressing concern over the delay by INEC in announcing the Saturday’s
18th March governorship in the state which he believes can create suspicious on the integrity of the electoral body.
Abubakar said the INEC has declared results of twenty (20) local government areas out of the twenty one (21) councils insisting that the delay is causing serious tension in the political tension in the.state.
“The delay in official announcement of the election result by INEC is not a healthy development in Adamawa state where there are multi ethnic and multi-religious people.
“I personally spoken to the INEC Chairman,Professor Mahmoud Yakubu over the delay and he promised me that the result will be announced today “.Abubakar stated.
Similarly the Social Democratic Party,SDP in Adamawa state has rejected the governorship and state Assembly election results in its entirety for alleged gross malpractices and irregularities.
State collation officer of the party (SDP) in the state,Abdulwahab Abdulrahaman made the position of the party public in an interview with the media at the 2023 election collation centre in Yola yesterday lamenting that the exercise was a “charade and manipulated”.
Abdulrahaman accused the state government of compromising the exercise in its own advantage by using money from government’s coffers to buy votes from electorates
“Election didn’t take place substantially in most of the places as claimed by INEC and the state Governor deliberately suspended the activities of local and international Non governmental organisations who are supposed to play observer role .
“We as a law abiding political party are calling on the INEC to do the needful by cancelling the exercise for fairness and justice”. Abdulrahaman pleaded
