Machine Visualization
Emerson’s PACSystems RXi HMI features industrial ruggedness, intuitive graphics, and smartphone-like usability for easier collaboration.
Designed with OEMs in mind, Emerson’s PACSystems RXi HMI (human machine interface) is designed with projective capacitive touchscreen technology that allows users to interact with the visual display with 10-point multi-touch capabilities like swipe, pinch, or zoom to move to the next screen or expand a chart.
The PACSystems RXi HMI has an IP66 water resistance rating for protection from high-pressure water jets and in marine use. It is also approved for use in temperatures ranging from -20oC to +65oC and is resistant to chemicals, impact, scratches, and dust. Emerson notes that the PACSystems RXi HMI is designed in accordance with IEC 62443 Global Automation Cybersecurity Standards to support end users’ overall digital security strategy.
This HMI comes pre-loaded and pre-licensed with the Movicon WebHMI software and is HTML5-ready, making it easy for operations, management, and maintenance teams to view the same screen at the same time regardless of location. According to Emerson, this ability to immediately share information and access to expertise reduces maintenance costs and improves productivity.
With the Movicon WebHMI software, the PACSystems RXi HMI is ready for data analysis, troubleshooting, and diagnostics. An included data trending tool provides a snapshot of productivity and quality while the SQLite database tool and PAC analyzer help users troubleshoot problems to minimize downtime.
The HMI also features extensive protocol support with OPC UA for better data contextualization and MQTT for cloud connectivity.
Jet Pump Stainless Steel Motors
AutomationDirect, automationdirect.com
AutomationDirect has added the new IronHorse MTRJ series of jet pump motors to their AC motor lineup. MTRJ centrifugal jet pump motors come in a TEFC enclosure with a 56J frame that has a threaded shaft for direct connection to a jet pump. The MTRJ motors are available in 120/230V AC from 1/3 to 2hp and in 208-230/460V AC from 1/3 to 3hp at 3600rpm. They have a bolt-on, bolt-off base and single-phase models that include built-in thermal protection. Also available are the MTS series of IronHorse motors, which are EISA compliant and feature IP69Krated stainless steel construction. The MTS series features a TEFC or TENV 304 stainless steel enclosure, can be used in Class I, Div. 2 hazardous locations, and is available in sizes from 1/3 to 20hp in 208-230/480V AC 3-phase and in speeds of 1200, 1800, and 3600rpm.
IoT Bridge for Azure
Cirrus Link, cirrus-link.com
Cirrus Link has released its IoT Bridge for Microsoft Azure on the Azure Marketplace, which connects standard MQTT Sparkplug data models to Azure Digital Twin and updates data changes to Azure Data Explorer for time series data. The IoT Bridge is a software widget based on Sparkplug that converts operations technology data to IT data automatically. Users can create any asset data models with Sparkplug templates, then automatically connect the models to Azure. The software consumes MQTT Sparkplug data, auto-creates data models, auto-discovers data assets, and requires no coding.
Non-Contact Cobots
Dobot, dobotcobots.com
Dobot has introduced 3kg and 10kg payload capacity collaborative robots to the existing 5kg version of the Safe Skin model previously available. In addition to stopping when the robot arm contacts an object, the Safe Skin add-on—a wearable collision detecting product— provides an additional layer of safety by allowing the robot arm to sense an object and stop before it touches an object. Safe Skin perceives any intrusive entity within an adjustable distance up to 15cm, responding within 0.01s and achieving an emergency stop within 0.1s. When the object is no longer detected, the robot resumes operation automatically.
