Multi-sensor Metrology System

OGP, ogpnet.com

The SmartScope E7 multi-sensor metrology system features the fixed lens IntelliCentric optical system, which provides a high-resolution image for video edge detection. The digital zoom allows for instantaneous magnification changes, while the standard all-LED lighting system provides illumination from all angles. With the capability to capture the same size ranges as other mechanical zoom optical systems, the SmartScope E7 has no moving parts to maintain.

Industrial Beacons

Rockwell Automation, rockwellautomation.com

Rockwell Automation’s new Bulletin 855R 110m industrial round beacons offer audible and visual indications with multiple light-pattern and mounting options for use in a mix of signaling applications. Other new features of the 855R beacon family include the ability to provide up to 15 unique DIP switch-selectable light patterns, multicolor functionality, high brightness, and a mounting base that’s compatible with all LED beacon modules and can produce up to three different audible outputs from a 32-tone table. All 855R devices are available in 24V DC, 120V AC, or 240V AC global ratings, and have IP66/67 and UL Type 4/4X/13 ingress protection ratings and are available as separate components or pre-assembled.

3D Sensor

SmartRay, smartray.com

The Ecco X 25 3D sensor from SmartRay offers 4,096 points of resolution and a scan rate up to 40 kHz, a measurement range of 20mm and a stand-off distance of 65mm. The Ecco X 25 delivers a typical vertical resolution of 0.9-1.4µm and a typical vertical resolution of circa 5.0-7.0µm. The Z-linearity is 0.005%, and Z-repeatability is 0.2µm. The typical scan rate delivers up to 163 million points/sec. The sensor provides a gigabit Ethernet interface, a quadrature encoder interface, and two inputs and outputs to support a range of start, data triggering, and output options. Its enclosure is rated to IP67, its operating temperature ranges from 0 to 40°C, and has an input voltage of 24V DC at 10 W. It measures 48 × 84 × 125.3mm, and weighs less than 750g.

MIPI Optical Modules

Teledyne, teledyne.com

Teledyne e2v releases Optimom 2M MIPI optical modules for vision system development. All Optimom 2M models are powered by Teledyne e2v’s 2-megapixel, low-noise, global shutter image sensor to capture images of fast-moving objects. These optical modules are built with the same 25mm square outline, enabling a single mechanical design that can fit into constrained mechanical systems and come with monochrome or RGB color options as well as multi-focus, fix-focus, or no lens options which come pre-installed and focused. Optimom 2M uses the MIPI CSI-2 protocol and standard FPC connector to link with embedded processing boards. Integration uses a dedicated development kit which includes both an adapter board and Linux drivers.

Rugged Android PDA

Winmate, winmate.com

Winmate announced its new M700DQ8-EX a 7-in. ATEX rugged tablet. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Octa-core with speeds up to 2.2 GHz. The M700DQ8-EX has passed the U.S. military 810G standards for vibration, shock, and 5 ft. drop, has an IP65 rating, and battery life that can last up to 20 hours. The 7-inch TFT panel with optical bonding can be used with finger, glove, or stylus, in sunlight and rain. The M700DQ8-EX can be attached to vehicle docks or used with various optional accessories like the carry strap.

Extended Reach Robot Yaskawa, motoman.com

The extended reach six-axis GP8L robot from Yaskawa has an IP54 rated body and offers an 8 kg payload capacity, 1,636mm horizontal reach, and 2,894mm vertical reach. It can be floor-, wall-, tilt- or ceiling-mounted with brakes included on all axes. GP-series robots are controlled by the YRC1000 controller, built to a global standard, and do not require a transformer for input voltages ranging from 380V AC to 480V AC. The control cabinet fir these robots is highly compact, at 598 x 490 x 427mm. The long reach, slim-body design and wide wrist motion range of the GP8L makes it flexible enough for a variety of applications.
