Just as in previous years, once again in 2017, the worldwide-operating Dutch offshore contractors upheld their excellent reputation. Whether for the laying of pipelines or the installation of jackets and topsides on platforms, special systems are increasingly being deployed combined with new innovative solutions. Below is a summary of the most important activities. As was the case when carrying out platform dismantling work Allseas attracted huge attention with its singlelift installation/decommissioning and pipelaying vessel Pioneering Spirit for her pipelaying activities. The Pioneering Spirit was set to work as a pipelayer for the first time last year in the Black Sea, as part of Gazprom’s TurkStream project. In the framework of this project, two gas export pipelines, each measuring 930 kilometres long, have to be laid between Anapa in Russia and Kikoy in Turkey. These 32 inch-diameter pipelines will each have a transport capacity of 15,75 billion m3 of gas a year. As well as the Pioneering Spirit, Allseas also deployed their pipelaying vessel 14

Audacia on this project, which was launched on 7 May 2017. The maximum water depth on location is 2,200 metres. The Pioneering Spirit is responsible for laying the sections of pipeline in deep water, while the Audacia will lay the shallow water sections. In April 2017 Allseas signed a contract with Nord Stream 2 AG for the laying of gas export pipelines in the Baltic, as part of the Nord Stream 2 project. This project, to be undertaken in 2018 and 2019, will involve the laying of two gas pipelines, each with a length of 1,200 kilometres, between Russia and Northern Germany.
