Overview The Palestinian Medical Students’ Association (PMSA) is a National Member Organization of The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) that is located and

represents medical students in Palestine. PMSA-Palestine is proud to represent the medical students of Palestine to help tackle many of the pressing global and national issues that need our attention. PMSA-Palestine was founded in August, 2019 with the goal of advocating for the health care system in Palestine and providing medical students with the opportunity to develop and serve our community in order to improve the healthcare system in our nation. The National General Assembly (NGA) is composed of all members of PMSA-Palestine. The National General Assembly is the highest authority and decision making body of PMSA. It is concerned with the internal and external decision making of PMSA-Palestine. The NGA is convened at least twice a year, once in March after the March International General Assembly and once in September after the August International General Assembly. Due to this year pandemic situation (The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic), The Third National General Assembly was held fully online for six days long from 14th of November to 19th of November, 2020, composed of the opening ceremony, several capacity building event, theme events, social programs, presidential sessions where the National Federation’s Constitution and bylaws amendments, guidelines and policies are discussed by the members’ representatives from each local committee, and plenary session in which the amendments are voted on and The PMSA team of officials is elected to manage the work aspects of PMSA. This NGA theme event was “Medical Students Beyond Borders”, it was organized to break all barriers by providing a platform for students from different medical institutions in Palestine to interact with one another. We believe that this theme was the best to describe that situation that we live in right now, Whether in Palestine or the whole world.

Welcome Message Dear PMSA-Palestine family, On the fourth of August in the 68th General Assembly of IFMSA, PMSA has earned the recognition of Palestine within the IFMSA, It was a defining moment in the history of Palestinian medical students, That moment was the harvest of years of backbreaking work by ambitious students who determinate to make the change that our students deserve. After one year, on the 5th of August in the IFMSA Online General Assembly, August Meeting 2020, Palestine has been upgraded to gain full membership in IFMSA. We want to thank every single member of this organization for your outstanding efforts all the way to accomplish this achievement, one of many yet to come. Since PMSA was established, it has been decided to convene The National General Assembly at least twice a year, once in March after the March International General Assembly and once in September after the August International General Assembly as the highest authority and decision making body of PMSA composed of all members of The National Federation. Unfortunately, this year the National General Assembly has been postponed several times as the looming threat of COVID-19 pandemic became very serious. The impact of the pandemic was drastically changing the lives of people, including the lives of young people. Schools and universities have closed, exams and events postponed, the usual health information services are limited, socializing with friends and wider family is highly discouraged and in some places even punishable. Living in these circumstances can be tough for young people for their social, physical and mental wellbeing. Although the world is full of struggles, it is also full of the overcoming of them. We, PMSAains, quickly adapted to this global health emergency, holding a very special National General Assembly fully online was challenging, but we did it! Proving again the capabilities of PMSA and its hard-working members.

On behalf of the NGA III OC, Islam Masood, NGA III Head of OC.

Public Relations and Collaborations 1. Social Media Promotion in such a short period was one of the main challenges. After holding several OLMs and preparing high quality templates that match IFMSA and PMSA standards, we are proud of achieving our goal which was creating high quality visibility and social media presence, reaching to almost all our members resulting in receiving 234 responses on the event page and more than 300 applications. Over 32 high quality Facebook posts were created and shared on PMSA official page, LCs pages, SCs pages and event page. Also, Instagram and Facebook stories were uploaded every day of the NGA. Pictures of the speakers, inspiring quotes, and updates on participation are examples of our work. In addition to animated stories shared on Instagram, explanatory video shared on Facebook and the theme event was streamed live on Facebook. 2. Members Engagement Member engagement in the online events is one of the hardest challenges we faced. In order to ensure effective engagement, we have made several steps: sent all the updates to participants via email, created a WhatsApp group for each session, opened the meeting room half an hour earlier so the participants could have informal communication, created a social program Facebook group and conducted two social meetings. 3. Media An article about the NGA was published by a high level media agency in Palestine.

4. Collaboration In order to provide 6 zoom premium accounts for the parallel sessions, we collaborated with the LCs and with Al-Quds university.
