@NEPTUNETHEATRE

Neptune Theatre is located on sacred land that has been the site of human activity since time immemorial. We are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq, and we acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land.

As artists, we are grateful to work and build community here. As stewards of culture, we commit to continuing to improve our relations with Indigenous people and upholding values of collaboration and inclusivity in all that we do.

We recommend that masks be worn in our venues. As our theatres place the audience so close to the action on stage, masking helps protect not only audience members but also the actors, who cannot wear masks when performing. By keeping them safe, we all can help prevent COVID-related performance cancellations.

Any videotaping or other video or audio recording of this production is strictly prohibited. The use of cameras, cellular phones, paging devices and all other recording devices is strictly prohibited in the theatre. Please ensure all cellular phones and watch alarms are turned off. Neptune Theatre is a scent-free environment.

Neptune Theatre is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres and engages, under the terms of the Canadian Theatre Agreement, professional Artists who are members of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association. Neptune Theatre engages professional technicians represented by IATSE Local 680.

Neptune Theatre acknowledges the support of our government partners:

BRAD REID REEDS

Back in 1986, in Cambridge UK, 18year old Jeremy would often head to the movie theatre to see whatever was playing. No plans, no research; just head to the cinema in the centre of the city and see any and all offerings. This was before mega-multiplex theatres, before the internet, before smart-phones and way before Netflix, Crave, Disney+ and even satellite TV. I distinctly recall standing and looking at the list of 2pm matinees on offer and seeing a movie called ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’ I had no clue what it was about, but I did spot that it had Rick Moranis and Steve Martin in it. Surely, it might be funny?

I bought my ticket (probably around two British pounds, or $3.15!) and disappeared into a life-changing experience! What greeted me was a world of talking plants, sado-masochistic dentists, nerdy heroes, heartbreaking heroines, and so much excellent music. I had NO IDEA it was a musical. I had no idea it was a great musical.

As the lights rose in the theatre, I picked my jaw from the popcorn decorated carpet, walked out, looped around and bought a ticket for the next screening starting in 15 minutes.

I watched it again. I have seen the movie many times since.

What a joy to be bringing you this hilarious, tragic, sci-fi schlocky show at a time when we really need to laugh together. We have assembled a wonderful cast and creative team to bring Skid Row to life; some new faces to Neptune and some familiar. I am so grateful to our puppet team who have been working so hard to create the Audrey Two puppets. I am thrilled with the results and congratulate them on a job exceedingly well done.

Our 2025-2026 season kicks off moments after Little Shop ends its run with a revisit to Greece and the ultimate feel good musical, Mamma Mia! Julie Martell will once again lead the cast and the show runs throughout the Summer. A Summer filled with ABBA music sounds delicious. It’s the biggest season ever, with three major musicals. Joining Mamma Mia we have The Wizard of Oz (for the Holiday Season) and the much talked-about MYSTERY MUSICAL in the Spring of 2026. We have signed strict NDA’s so we cannot share that title until May 12th, 2025. I can tell you it’s an amazing show and one that you will want to see. I wish I could share it here! I can tell you that after it ends its run here, the show will head over to The Charlottetown Festival and be part of their Summer Season, 2026.

Welcome to Little Shop of Horrors. Thanks for supporting live theatre. It’s been a blast.

CHAIRS’S MESSAGE

Thank you for joining us for our season ending musical Little Shop of Horrors! A show based on a cult-classic movie, this show is beloved amongst musical theatre enthusiasts. Full of recognizable songs, and loveable characters, our final musical of the season is always a boisterous celebration.

What a season we’ve had here at Neptune in 2024-2025. We took patrons from a Prohibition-era Midsummer’s Night Dream, to Arendelle, to Skid Row. We shared stories that pre-date Western Civilization, that uplift and inspire, and were cautionary tales. As the largest Regional Theatre east of Montreal, it is our responsibility to bring the stories of our community to the stage, and we did that this season.

Subscriptions for our 2025-2026 season are now on sale, we’re announcing our TOP SECRET season ending musical on May 12th, and single tickets going on sale August 5th . When purchasing tickets, consider adding a donation to the theatre to your order! Support from our donors, patrons, and sponsors allows us to keep bringing you the highest quality live performances we can.

EXECUTIVE

Welcome to the season finale of our 2024-2025 year here at Neptune! You are in for a treat with this truly deliciously twisted show. Little Shop of Horrors is a musical I have loved for decades, and I am excited to have you join me in this fan club.

The 2024-2025 season has featured incredible productions with the majority of them being created right here at Neptune. I am so thankful to our incredible team that created and supported these shows. The excellence you experience at Neptune would not be possible without each dedicated person here at Neptune.

The musical theatre madness doesn’t stop here at Neptune, as our summer show is the return of Mamma Mia!

This smash hit will have you singing ABBA hits all summer long. Single tickets are on sale April 15th, but if you want to take advantage of front of the line access, fantastic discounts and unique perks, contact our Box Office about becoming a subscriber!

Have you heard we have a secret? All will be revealed June 2nd, but in the meantime, if you want to be guaranteed the best seats at the best prices for the finale of our 2025-2026 season - which will be THE theatrical event of the year - you absolutely want to become a Spotlight or Ultimate Subscriber. Talk to the Box Office today for more information.

Feed Me Seymour! A dweeb named Seymour, who lives in a terrible part of town, is broke, and works for a cranky old man at his flower shop, is in love with a local girl named Audrey. The day after a meteor shower, he finds a talking plant that he names Audrey 2.

Surprise - the plant is an ALIEN who wants to eat HUMAN BEINGS. Seymour gives into Audrey’s demands.

The smash-hit Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors explodes onto the Fountain Hall stage this spring! An impeccable score from the genuis partnership of Menken and Ashman (they wrote Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, and Aladdin!) and a classic love story...wrapped up in a flesh eating, alien, venus fly trap.

FEED ME SEYMOUR!

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.

HOWARD ASHMAN

Best known as a pivotal creative mind behind the renaissance of Disney animation and his work on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast (which is dedicated to, “Our friend, Howard Ashman, who gave a Mermaid her voice and a Beast his soul...”) Ashman’s first love was theater. Ashman was a founder of off off Broadway’s renowned WPA Theater, where he conceived, wrote and directed God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, as well as the classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors (both music by Alan Menken). In 1986, he wrote and directed the Broadway musical Smile (music by Marvin Hamlisch). Lamented as a lost treasure of the 1980’s theater scene, Smile remains popular on High School and College campuses throughout the country. Howard Ashman died in 1991 from complications of AIDS. For more information, please visit howardashman.com.
