Family French Class Date: Mondays, January 4 – March 29, Time: 7:15 p.m.-8 p.m. Ages: 4 years old and up Cost: $120 for first family member, $80 for the second family member ($200 family cap) Place: Gull Point Community Center Family French allows parents and children the opportunity to learn a foreign language together. Join the instructor as she covers the basics of the language. No previous French language exposure is needed. Pre-registration is suggested. Cost includes lessons and sampling of French cuisine. The focus is on exploration! This special series of “My Firsts” includes collage, 3D art, hand printing, acrylic paintings, beginning paper cutting, and musical art. The activities are designed to provide opportunities for the Twoosys to touch, feel, hear, see, and explore while building fine motor skills, language, creativity, and cognitive skills. We learn about Israeli artist Gil Sadeh who creates lip, eye, and nose sculptures. We’ll use Model Magic to create a mouth with expression! The work of fingerprint artist Chuck Close will be explored while we create interesting landscapes using our hands and fingertips. Hands, feet, forearms, lips, and even bones help us learn about a variety of artistic styles and create an interesting “body” of art! Call 436-5198 for more information. Art in the Afternoon Classes Date: Thursday, January 7 – April 29 Time: 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Ages: 5-12 years old Cost: City $10/per weekly class; Non-city $10/per weekly class Place: Gull Point Community Center Art in the afternoons is a place where young artists will learn that art can be decorative, functional and emotional, transcending boundaries of time and place, and that it is a reflection of the ideals and cultures. Students learn about the seven principles of art and seven elements of art and how to use them effectively. Classes are pay as you go and there is no pre-registration required. Our dance program is extended in to a funfilled night for boys and girls alike. If your child is currently in our dance program, or thinking about trying a class out, bring them to our evening workshop where they will work on their dance skills, have a pizza dinner, play games and other fun activities. We all live in a stressful world, even our children feel it. This class is an opportunity to relax and exercise at the same time. Fitness is important at every age. Each community center offers access to fitness rooms. These facilities are available for use by the public for a nominal fee. Adults age 18 to 49 may use the weight room facilities during normal business hours for $1 a visit or they may by a membership for $10 a month or $100 a year.
