A letter from your HEY, BEES!

LTG

April has finally rolled around, which means my term as your Lieutenant Governor has officially begun! I want to start off by saying thank you. Division 21, it is truly an honor and a blessing to be able to serve you. I remember when it was registration time at DCON and all of you guys started to come up the escalators; at that moment, a huge wave of pride swept over me, and I immediately felt like my family was here. YOU are my family, and once again, I got to experience the power of DIVISION 21! I was inspired once more at DCON, and reminded of why I love Key Club so much; because of YOU. I would also like to give a huge shoutout to JESSICA, our Queen Bae, for her tremendous support and hard work. She is a model of servant leadership. Lastly, I would like to thank all our Kiwanians and Faculty Advisors; none of this would have been possible without the help of our adults. This year is going to have its challenges and hardships; however, we are going to have so many great adventures! I’m ecstatic to start this new journey, and even more excited to get to know all of you! Here’s to another great year of love and service!

In Love and Service,

Sea Choi

Lieutenant Governor of Division 21 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International

DIVISION 21 APRIL 2016

SAMMY CHU | MONROE This past year I watched as Jessica grew as a leader and an individual. I learned so much about service and leadership from which I can never repay her. She will do great things and I can't wait to see her continue to be successful. Forever our Queen Bee! Love, Sammy DENNIS MACH | MARINER Freshmen year, until the very last few months of school, I decided to attend my first Divisional Event at Mukilteo Beach hosted by Jessica Bae! I was super anxious to meet new people, but since it was my first DCM I was really paranoid on engaging others that I didn't really know. When I first arrived, I walked in and I could see Jessica Bae standing near the fire pit. She spotted me out right away, knew that I was probably a new member that she's never seen before, and ran towards me to greet me. She was super friendly, asked me so many questions about where I was from, and made me already feeling welcomed to the Division even though I just arrived. I'll never forget that day, as Jessica really inspired me into getting involved into Key Club more! After that I decided to attend Seattle Rally, and mostly ever single DCM after that. I will always remember Jessica as a person who was so committed into Key Club, and making sure that everybody that attended her DCM was welcomed! She sparked an ever growing passion for Key Club in me, and I really appreciate her for that. I will miss Jessica so much as our LTG, and know she'll do great things in Key Club in the future!

ANDREW BAEK | KAMIAK Hey Jessica, thank you so much for all you did this past year!!! Though I didn't know you very well, I really saw your passion for Key Club from the start, and I think it is needless to say that it inspired us all as well. I know being LTG was probably a lot of responsibility, but I truly feel like you handled it better than anyone could have. Also, I really wanted to thank you for encouraging me to run for president despite my short time of experience with Key Club. AND, though you're not the official Queen Bee of Division 21 now, I hope you stick around so we can get closer!!

부산사나이 out!

ANDREW BAEK | KAMIAK This year was my first DCON, and I had the time of my life. Meeting new people... Crazy spirit battles... Zutter workshops... The list goes on and on. I'm happy I had so much fun and learned so much about not only my role as the new president but how to serve the community with passion. With that said, I'm so excited for all that we, the bumblebees, are gonna do by the next DCON!!!

introducing… T he New District Executive Board! Hello Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers,

District Governor

My name is Juliet Yu and I’m your 2016-2017 District Governor. I am both honored and thrilled to serve alongside the PNW District Board and with caring leaders like you! Being apart of Key Club has been one of the best experiences in my life and I can’t wait to continue this in our Pacific Northwest District! For our journey together, I truly believe this year will be one of the greatest the Pacific Northwest District has ever seen. By taking the steps of Service, Unity and a Kiwanis Family plan, we will see the heart of Key Club, connection of our district, and reminders of our past/inspirations for our future. One of my mottos in life is “We over Me.” We together are equals in creating an impact and change for this year and beyond. It’s not about me, myself or I. We are all Key Clubbers with passion of calling Key Club our adventure. So please feel free to message me anytime via email, Facebook message or phone on any questions you have or if you want to talk. In love and service,

Juliet Yu

District Treasurer

Hey Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers!

My name is Bryan Lee and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve you as your District Treasurer for the 2016-17 term. My goal this year is to serve and increase connection with Lieutenant Governors and you, the members. Through my quarterly Treasurer newsletters, I hope to provide you the opportunity to learn and engage with the District. Similarly, I look to increase contact with your Lt.Gs to ensure they have the information necessary to help you. Throughout these past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to personally serve at every level in Key Club up to the District, and one message that has never lost strength is the importance of assisting the members. If you have any questions this year, don’t hesitate to contact me: I’m still a Key Club member like you, and I’m only a message away. In Caring and Service,

Bryan Lee

2016-2017 District Editor

Hello PNW!

My name is Audrey Chow and I am your 2016 - 2017 District Editor. As an avid Key Clubber and a bit of a Photoshop geek, I am beyond excited to serve in a position where I am able to capture and curate your hard work in our district newsletter, THE ESPRESSO. I plan on publishing four seasonal publications during my term, in addition to making divisional newsletters more accessible for the rest of the district. With the spirit and eagerness to serve still buzzing from DCON, I am confident that great days are ahead of us. Work together, lend a hand where you can, and show the world that you are “Proud ‘N’ Willing to Serve!” Also, if you ever need help or you just want to talk, don’t be afraid to say hello. Especially you, bulletin editors! In Service and Compassion,

Audrey Chow

Greetings Pacific Northwest District,

Convention Chair

I'm Amy Hung and I will be your Convention Chair for the 2016-2017 service year. Through my experiences, I plan to make DCON 2017 an even greater DCON than the year before. A goal of mine for Convention is to increase attendance and to strengthen workshops for all attendees. From serving as a member, club officer, Convention Aide, and now Convention Chair, I have learned that us Key Clubbers, all have the same objective. We all work together to make a difference in our home, schools, and communities. Like the great Troy Bolton once said, “we’re all in this together!” If you have questions about this upcoming District Convention, please feel free to contact me through Facebook, text, call, or email! In Love and Service,

Amy Hung

Preferred Charities Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital. For decades, Key Club has partnered with the March of Dimes to give every baby a healthy start. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for Unicef and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s helping The Eliminate Project.

GOODBYE TO ELIMINATE...

Key Club and Unicef partnered together to eliminate MaternalNeonatal Tetanus. MNT is a disease that hurts newborns, as well as their mothers, which eventually leads to death. Every 11 minutes, 1 baby dies from MNT; however, with just 1.80$, a mother can be vaccinated from this terrible disease, to save another life!

The PNW District this past year has raised over 79,000 dollars for the eliminate project! As the New District Project rolls around soon, let us not lose the passion and motivation we had during the Eliminate Project! We can change the lives of numerous people! DIVISION 21 APRIL 2016
