Hey Bumblebees!
I hope that all of you are having an adventurous, yet laid-back summer, and enjoying your time off school. There are many opportunities to get involved over the summer- for example, rallies! Basically a miniDCON, you’ll get a chance to meet Key Clubbers from nearby divisions, hold spirit battles, and attend Opening/Closing Sessions & Workshops! It’s a great opportunity for everyone- both those who did and did not attend DCON, and even those who are not in Key Club! Be sure to check out these Facebook events(or contact me) for info on Registration, Bring a Buddy, and etc. Another way that you can get involved this summer is to attend Divisional volunteer events, or find your own volunteering opportunity. Some great places to volunteer are: your local Boys&Girls Club, local Hospital, or websites such as Volunteer Match or United Way. Please keep in mind that near the end of August/beginning of the school year, officer training sessions will take place! I hope that all of you have a great summer, and can’t wait to see you soon Much Love, Jessica Bae 425.248.7258 Jessicabae.pnw21@gmail.com

WHAT IS JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION? Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States WHAT HAPPENED AT THE EVENT? Volunteers helped plan, run, and supervise the Children’s Games Stations! From traditional games such as horseshoe and coin toss to more creative ones such as water balloon volleyball, these hardworking bees helped the little kids stay entertained throughout the celebration. Go Bumblebees! 12

The Monroe High School Key Club has been focusing in on both planning intensely for the following year and becoming more connected with our Kiwanis. One of our officers (Sammy Chu) recently attended one of their meetings and was asked to present at their next one, which is a huge step for Key Club-Kiwanis interaction! Additionally, the officers are trying to insure that as many of us can attend DCMs as possible so that Monroe develops good attendance and is better known around our division! Also, we are continuously brainstorming ideas for fundraising in order to make money for our club (for going to DCON, etc). These ideas include bake sales, having concession stands at football games, and partnering with local stores.

June was an emotional time for our club. We had our last meeting on June 4th. We gave out awards to all the members that had completed 15 hours. We also gave out to the two outstanding members for each class. The we gave one award for the most spirited member and one award for the most outstanding member from the whole club. On the events side, we had one last event which was the MLE, Martha Lake Elementary, carnival. we just set up the booths, ran the booths, and cleaned up afterwards. We then had our final social at Willis Tucker Park. It was a potluck barbeque. We played games and other fun stuff, plus we spent time with the graduated seniors.
