A letter from your HELLOOOOOO BUMBLEBEES!!

We have finally kicked into summer! I hope you’ve been enjoying some time away from school, but are still continuing to hang out with your clubs and attend the various summer projects that are happening. Thank you to everyone that attended the DCM; special thanks to the divisional board for putting in extra effort to make this event possible! Not only the board, but also a huge shoutout to Ms. Kellogg and Billie for coming out – it was great to see our adults there! And lastly, a huge thank you to Mr. Ide, who is a faculty advisor at Lynnwood, that helped us get all the backdrops, props, and equipment together without getting in any trouble or doing something wrong. Without the help of these people, it would have been hard for me to try to run the whole DCM! Five members from our division will be attending the International Convention in Atlanta this month; and our very own QUEEN BEE Jessica Bae is going to be running for International Vice President. Please send her your best wishes! I’ll see you all soon! J In Love and Service,

Sea Choi

Lieutenant Governor of Division 21 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International

A FEW WORDS FROM YOUR. EXECUTIVE ASSISTANTS; HEY HEY! BEES

HOW'S YOUR SUMMER SO FAR? NO WAY! NO WAY! I THINK YOU MAKE IT BETTER! (Sing along in the tune of the chorus part of Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne) My summer has been off to a blast with hiking with friends, going to Wild Waves for the first time, and traveling across the country to the Big Apple! Whatever the first month of our summer consisted of, let's aim to incorporate more service into the second month. As a fellow member of our division and the president of another club, I have been super encouraged by clubs such as Lynnwood, Mariner, and Meadowdale hosting fundraisers for next year's DCON and KCCP at the same time. Car washes are a great idea for both general participants and volunteers because cars can get very dirty in the summer due to the lack of Seattle's usual rain, and volunteers can get slightly tanner from the rare rays of Seattle's sunshine. On another note, I hope our June DCM, Bee My Baby 2016, was as enjoyable for you all as it was for me. Whether you were a part of the audience or the performers, please don’t hesitate to give us feedback using the feedback form found on the PNW Division 21 Key Club Facebook Page. This way, Sea and our divisional board can obtain clear understandings of how to improve our members’ experiences at future DCMs. Our July DCM hasn’t been planned as of yet, however please plan to join us as we aim to bond more closely together as a family. I also hope our ICON attendees from our division such as Sea, Olivia, Rada, and Gary are currently having a blast in Atlanta while learning more about Key Club at an international aspect and supporting Jessica as an International VP candidate. Before this long letter comes to an end, I would like to remind you again that Seattle Rally, a 1-day mini DCON-like event, is coming up on July 23rd from 9AM to 3PM at Bellevue High School, and early bird registration and registration packet are both now available online. On that note, I look forward to seeing you all at the Seattle Rally and our July DCM! Until then, take care!

ANDREW BAEK

Hey Key Clubbers!

Woah, we already finish the first month of summer! And now we only have two months left. I hope your summer break has been great so far, and remember to always continue to do service! Be active in your club during the summer by participating in summer fundraisers! Service never ends! Hope to see all your bee-utiful faces at our future DCMS! DENNIS MACH

Bumblebees!

It was super amazing seeing everyone who came to the first Bee My Baby: SASS -- you guys were all so nice and supportive of each other and you gave great hugs! I hope everyone is having a buzzin’ summer, tell us all about it when we see you at Seattle Rally! It’ll be really fin-tastic to connect with friends/new people while learning how we can make a bigger impact together through leadership and service. Let’s all stay cool, find ways to positively impact others (even little things), and have a fab, fun, happy summer!! Why is Dennis going to Seattle Rally? There’s going to be lots of HONEYS! VY NGUYEN

SECRETARY: Hey D21!

How has your summer been? I hope that finals had gone well for you all. School’s finally over! Finally we all get a break from the rigorous school year. However, Key Club goes through the summer so be on the lookout for summer events! There are DCMs every month so be sure to come! The board has been planning on incorporating service projects into them as well. Seattle Rally is also coming up. What is Seattle Rally? It’s like a mini, one-day DCON. Grab the early bird tickets fast! You can find all these events on the Seattle Rally event page on Facebook. Our recent DCM was a success! There were so many amazing acts for the talent show! I can’t wait for next year’s! Summer is a great time to begin fundraising for your club! Car washes are a great way to raise money. Be sure to grab a place fast because many organizations and schools are going to want to do car washes too. There are a lot of other ways to fundraise as well. Come to the DCMs to get ideas from other clubs as well as share your own ideas! That’s all for this month! I hope to see you all at the DCMs and Seattle Rally! Have a great summer! THINH DO

EDITOR: Hello Friends!

I can't believe it's already July! How's your summer so far?! I hope you're living summer 2k16 to the fullest! Just because it's summer doesn't mean you stop serving and disconnect yourself from Key Club, remember Key Club goes through summer! Recently my club had a car wash and that's a great way to get together with your fellow key clubbers again and volunteer! 10% of the money earned from the car wash is going towards KCCP! If you're one of those people who say "let's hang out" and then end up staying in bed watching Netflix, here's the chance to do something productive! Save the date for Seattle Rally (July 23rd) and the July DCM, and other divisional events when the date is announced! Don't forget to go outside and enjoy the sunshine! I hope to see YOU at Seattle Rally!! AILEEN PHAN

BEE MY BABY: SENIORS APPRECIATION

Buzz Recap 10

DIVISION 21 JULY 2016

PETER CHEN | LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR DIVISION 28 Although Cool Whip now haunts each of my five senses, it was all worth it. Not only did we exceed our goal for the first official fundraiser for KCCP, many Key Clubbers broke out of their usual shells and met new people from different divisions. If you haven't been to a DCM yet, come to the next one and check out what it is all about.

The first ever “Bee My Baby: Senior Appreciation Showcase Session” was held with a variety of performances, ranging from dancing, to singing, to even magic tricks. DIVISION 21 JUNE 2016 2016 9 11 DIVISION 21 JULY

Bee My Baby 2016 CALVIN NGUYEN | KENT-MERIDIAN (D32) Lynnwood High School's DCM was one of the few outside division DCM that I and my fellow Kent-Meridian Key Clubbers have attended. It sure was a journey getting there and I've almost gotten lost multiple times /react-text react-text: 309 . But once I made it there, I saw that the architecture of the school was amazing! At first I thought that the bumblebees might've been secluded, but they actually weren't. Many people talked to us and there were no cliques. We even got asked to perform, which surprised me especially with an outside division and we were definitely not ready. But we did anyways. Everyone was so cheerful and welcoming there, especially during performance, and I felt as if I was back home with my Dragons. Going back was even worse, but by the end of the day, the trip was worth! I met a lot of bumblebees and had a lot of fun. This was a well planned DCM, and I look forward to more with D21. Thanks again for having us, Bumblebees!

ANTHONY LU | DIVISION 26 LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

Walking into an enclosed spot with beautiful decorations and so many people eager to show their talent was such a beautiful sight to see. I hadn’t been to a Division 21 DCM before, but I chose to came just this once. It started as a visit to Sea and to cheer her on, but as the DCM progressed I slowly felt like I was part of the Bumblebees family. It all started with Andrew and Sea asking me to explain what KCCP donations went towards, and then again when I volunteered for the magic show, that was great! Also one act I really enjoyed was when Jennifer and her band sang “Talking to the Moon”, it was so nice to see Jennifer (my child) show off her talent and everybody cheering her on for it. I’d also like to thank Aileen for taking such great photos, and the Divisional Board for planning it. Hope to see you all soon at another of Sea’s DCMs!

KATHY VUU | MEADOWDALE HIGH SCHOOL When I first saw the event page, I was so happy that the June DCM was going to help out our new district project, KCCP. This DCM was a great way to not only show people's talents, but to express our gratitude to some of the seniors that graduated!

SEA CHOI | LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR The Lynnwood High School Key Club has been going above and beyond on various levels, from service projects, to supporting the district project, to even raising funds for DCON next year. To top off their outstanding qualifications, they have also been featured in the summer issue of the district’s summer ESPRESSO, with a whole club spotlight dedicated to them. They definitely deserve some recognition to the success they have been displaying – I am very excited to see the things they will bring to our division in the future.

Preferred Charities Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital. For decades, Key Club has partnered with the March of Dimes to give every baby a healthy start. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for Unicef and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s helping The Eliminate Project.

GOODBYE TO ELIMINATE...

Key Club and Unicef partnered together to eliminate MaternalNeonatal Tetanus. MNT is a disease that hurts newborns, as well as their mothers, which eventually leads to death. Every 11 minutes, 1 baby dies from MNT; however, with just 1.80$, a mother can be vaccinated from this terrible disease, to save another life!

The PNW District this past year has raised over 79,000 dollars for the eliminate project! As the New District Project rolls around soon, let us not lose the passion and motivation we had during the Eliminate Project! We can change the lives of numerous people! DIVISION 21 MAY 2016
