LTG

A letter from your TIME FOR SOME SUMMER-LOVIN!

Are you ready to finally start summer! This year has gone by so quickly, and I can’t believe another school year has come to an end! I want to start by giving a great thank you to all our officers, Kiwanians, and club advisors. Without your hard work, Division 21 wouldn’t be here in the way it is today. I think it’s crucial to remember to always appreciate and be thankful of those who have worked so hard for us. Also – thank you so much to those who came out to the May Joint-DCM! It was amazing to have so many people from our division there representing; I always feel such a big amount of love and pride whenever I see our division, wherever we are. It’s awesome to spread our roots and get to know other Key Clubbers as well! Lastly, congratulations to all Seniors that are graduating this year; thank you for all your service, we will certainly miss you. However, I hope you guys continue to life a life full of service and character. Division 21 sends you the best of luck! In Love and Service,

Sea Choi

A FEW WORDS FROM YOUR. EXECUTIVE ASSISTANTS; Hi, Division 21!

As school gets out and summer approaches, don't forget to stay involved with Key Club and serving within our community. Though your individual club may have stopped holding meetings until the beginning of the next school year, DCMs WILL STILL OCCUR throughout the summer, so please plan on joining us as we look to create more memories together as a family. The summer will also be highlighted by the Seattle Rally (where Sea will be teaching people how to dance to KPOP), so be on the lookout for further details. As for community service, there are so many places that needs your help during the summer such as libraries, churches, etc. But for now, I hope your summer will be full of spectacular and lasting memories AND I also look forward to seeing you ALL at the June DCM! ANDREW BAEK

Hey, Bumblebees!

This school year has went by really fast! Just take the time to reflect about what differences you made in peoples lives by serving the community! Anyways, hopefully you're surviving all of these finals, EOC's, and heat waves! #FeelTheBern. You guys can do it! There's only a couple of days until this school year officially ends! And thats when we'll be having more fun social events such as Seattle Rally and Summer DCMS, so look forward to that! I hope that you guys continue your passion for service, and do a bunch of service project during the summer! Always stay connected with the Division and try to be actively involved as much as possible! I really look forward to seeing you all at Seattle Rally and future DCMS! DENNIS MACH

Hellooo, it’s Vy!

As you know, school is almost over and we’re all super excited for summer sun and ice cream and cuties at the beach and far away vacays and funfilled key club events. And the event to kick off the summer: June DCM!! It’s going to be a chance for bees to show fellow bees their talents and the whole division to come together and celebrate seniors while raising money for the district project at the same time! I really really hope to see you all there - we’ll be doing the things we love with the peeps we love!! Don’t forget to keep signing up for events to volunteer at and help others in the community as well! That's what wE're all about, plus service and love really do go greatastic together! Why is being in division 21 good for a key clubber’s health? There’s lots of vitamin BEE :^) VY NGUYEN

DIVISION 21 JUNE 2016

SECRETARY: Hey D21!

How's your month going so far? I know a lot of finals are coming up but at the same time it's almost the end of the year!! But although we're at the end of the school year that doesn't mean Key Club is ending. Key club goes through the summer! Be on the lookout for DCMs and other divisional events during the summer break! Our first event is the June DCM. For this month's DCM we will be having a talent show. Come show your talents! It can be anything from dancing to reciting a letter to the seniors to magic! There is a sign up sheet on the D21 Facebook group. Sign up fast so you guys have time to practice! The DCM will also be for senior appreciation so don't miss it seniors! You all will be missed! Also make sure to come and say farewell to our seniors underclassmen. Since its summer it's also a great time to be having events like car washes! Hurry and grab a location before they're all taken! Meadowdale is planning on having one soon so please come support! That is all I have for this month! Turn in your reports and good luck on all your finals! THINH DO

EDITOR: What’s Buzzin?!

A month has passed since I got this position and I finally got access to the Division 21’s Instagram! If you haven’t already, please follow the Instagram page @pnwdivision21! (The feed isn’t that bad J) Also please turn on your notification for the account, so you won’t miss any reminders! One of my goals is to provide all the members updates on social media because as we know, in this generation, our phones are glued to our hands so if there are any big events, dcms, service projects, etc it will be posted and your phones will be “buzzin” ;) Also contact me, if your club wants to promote a event so I can post it on Instagram then the whole division will be informed! As the most recent upcoming event which is the June DCM; Senior Appreciation Showcase Session, a night full of performances and talents, I’ll be filming that and just the whole DCM so look forward to that! SEATTLE AREA MAY JOINT DCM

Buzz Recap

DIVISION 21 JUNE 2016

PETER CHEN | LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR DIVISION 28 Although Cool Whip now haunts each of my five senses, it was all worth it. Not only did we exceed our goal for the first official fundraiser for KCCP, many Key Clubbers broke out of their usual shells and met new people from different divisions. If you haven't been to a DCM yet, come to the next one and check out what it is all about.

With over FIVE different divisions from the SEATTLE AREA of the PNW DISTRICT, our division represented STRONLGY, despite the geographical disadvantage! GO BUMBLEBEES! DIVISION 21 JUNE 2016 2016 9 11 DIVISION 21 JUNE

How Do You Feel? JUSTIN ONG | EDMONDS-WOODWAY Just recently, I was able to attend my first Key Club DCM event and it was a great experience! My Key Club presidents kept emphasizing how these events were a great way to meet new people and how they were always fun so I finally decided to go. Overall , all I have to say are positive comments. The officers of the DCM were all enthusiastic, allowing for all people to feel included, and they were also great sports, allowing division members to pie them in the face! It was great to see how everyone was ready to participate in whatever games or ice breakers even if there was initial awkwardness for some such as myself. During this DCM, Key Club Members also had the opportunity to participate in the Miracle Minute fundraiser. In this fundraiser, members had one minute to raise as much money possible and we were able to reach our goal of $200! To see the amount of people wanting to support all the different causes was genuinely heartwarming and so awesome. While I did find it difficult to socialize, meet new people, and make new friends, the officers put in a lot of hard work to make this event happen and it clearly shows from the general enthusiasm and spirit from everyone. This was a great first time experience and I will definitely go to every DCM I can next year!

Hea FROM YOUR M RAPHAEL MANANSALA | MEADOWDALE

Eye-opener. The joint May DCM was my realization that our service projects, though small with only a few hours of our time, definitely add up after seeing just a few members from different divisions becoming a massive union. The comradery of the Pacific Northwest Key Club is unmatched. As next year’s Vice President of Meadowdale, I look forward to partaking in this domino effect knowing that the magnitude Key Club has - in the end - is impactful. When I volunteer for Key Club’s service projects, I am never truly alone, because some school or some division is making the same contribution as me to make the community a better place.

WhodaBands? YUDABANDS!

18

During the month of May, Lynnwood High School Key Club joined forces with Yudabands, a organization that helps children in need of education. Most of these children already have their own personal problems, but are also struggling in their developing countries. Working with Yudabands, we were able to sell Yudaband bracelets to help found our sponsored child Nicola Ganjiri. With special help from Key Clubers all over the Pacific Northwest and many Lynnwood town members, we are proud to say we collected $616.00, selling 88 bracelets to go towards her education! All of this wouldn't be possible without the help of every person who purchased a bracelet and the special three member team who worked hard to sell the Yudabands. The great thing about Yudabands is that anyone anywhere can do it. If you are interested in helping to host your own Yudaband project, please visit the Yudaband website at http://www.yudabands.org/. Although they may seem like silly cute bracelets, they can positively impact a person's life forever, and as our duty as Key Clubbers, that is the greatest service we can give to others, and ourselves. MONROE

SEA CHOI | LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Monroe High School has been incredibly active within the division, never ceasing to bring lots of smiles and great service project ideas to the hive. Living geographically far from most of the division, Monroe is one of the top schools to bring the most members to Divisional Events! Way to go Monroe, your service and dedication is very much appreciated! Go Bearcats!

Preferred Charities Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital. For decades, Key Club has partnered with the March of Dimes to give every baby a healthy start. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change, holding dances and taking part in March of Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for Unicef and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s helping The Eliminate Project.

GOODBYE TO ELIMINATE...

Key Club and Unicef partnered together to eliminate MaternalNeonatal Tetanus. MNT is a disease that hurts newborns, as well as their mothers, which eventually leads to death. Every 11 minutes, 1 baby dies from MNT; however, with just 1.80$, a mother can be vaccinated from this terrible disease, to save another life!

The PNW District this past year has raised over 79,000 dollars for the eliminate project! As the New District Project rolls around soon, let us not lose the passion and motivation we had during the Eliminate Project! We can change the lives of numerous people! DIVISION 21 JUNE 2016
