A Letter from your Lieutenant Governor Dear Owlets, Wow, I can’t believe its June already. It seems like it was only yesterday where many of us began this almost nearing end of a school year. Many of you will be graduating and off to college. You will take your first step into the adult world and will face hopefully not that many obstacles along the way. Throughout your four years of high school and time in Key Club, I hope you learned many things, from leadership skills to caring more about our community. And that during your time in Key Club you have made unforgettable memories with your friends that you will cherish for the rest of your lives. I wish you all seniors the best in college and success in your future. For returning members, buckle up cause this next school year will be a joy ride and I am trilled to be able to guide you all along the way. MEET OUR DIVISIONAL ASSISTANT! Hello Owlets! My name is Jillian Reyes and I'm your 20162017 Divisional Assistant. This upcoming school year, I'll be a junior attending Skyview High School. I am so honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve alongside all of you! Ever since I've joined Key Club, my passion and eagerness to serve has only grown. KEY CLUB & KIWANIS: A POWERFUL TEAM The unique service partnership between Key Clubs and Kiwanis has existed for over 90 years. Although Key Club is a student-led organization, each of the thirteen local Key Clubs is sponsored by one of the five local Kiwanis Clubs. As sponsors, Kiwanians assist with chartering new clubs, provide Kiwanis Advisors, and frequently offer financial support for students to attend District Convention (DCON) and Key Leader. At Key Club meetings, it is helpful to introduce Kiwanis Advisors to members and share that they are there to support your Key Club and sometimes offer important background information on service initiatives. Our shared love of service unites Key Club and Kiwanis members with powerful results. Last year, the PNW Key Club District raised over $79,000 for Project Eliminate. Local Kiwanis Clubs have been working for the past five years in the international Kiwanis effort to raise $110 million to eliminate maternal and neo-natal tetanus. Skyview Key Club received national recognition at DCON for their Salvation Army bell-ringing efforts. In partnership with ITech Prep Key Club and Salmon Creek Kiwanis, they raised over $14,000. Both Skyview and ITech Prep Key Clubs often volunteer at the annual concerts sponsored by Salmon Creek. Mountain View Key Club teams, assisted by several Cascade Park Kiwanis members, volunteer every year for two days at the Portland Marathon. Prairie and Hockinson Key Clubs provide readers for the Battle Ground Kiwanis Dr. Seuss event. Cascade Park Kiwanians deeply appreciate the contributions of the HeLa, Mountain View, Camas, Union, and Evergreen Key Clubs on numerous projects including baby food drives, foster children’s parties, our garage sale, and the Fall Festival of Service. The possibilities for joint service projects are endless. Explore additional ways in which your sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs can assist with your service projects. If you are hosting a car wash or fundraiser at a local restaurant, notify your Kiwanis Advisor so that they can support these events. Visit a Kiwanis meeting where Key Club members often receive a free meal while they learn more about Kiwanis. Several local Kiwanis Clubs offer scholarships. Additional benefits are that Kiwanis members may be able to provide insights on professional careers and write letters of recommendation for college applicants. MAY JOINT DCM On May 20th both Divisions 44 and 45 came together and hosted a Talent Show to showcase what amazing talents both Divisions had. Thank you to all those who performed, you all were amazing no matter whether or not you won a award for your act, just performing showed how fun and loving you all can be in an environment surrounded by key clubbers like you, so once again thank you!! And thanks to all who showed up, wouldn’t have been such an awesome night without you all.

Major emphasis &Preferred charities “Children: Their Future, Our Focus� Unicef is a organization of the United Nations dedicated for the children. And works with the governments all over the world to assist the children with needs in their community, that mostly involve health care, basic education and safe water and sanitation. Key Club since 1994has been trick or treating for Unicef and over the years have raised over 5 million dollars for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDs programs.
Since 1978, Key Clubs have been making a difference for babies everywhere. Key Clubbers all around the country help when they host service projects and fundraise about the March of Dimes in their communities, spreading the word about the crisis of preterm birth. And of course honoring those 15 million babies that were born too soon due to the birth defects and premature birth.
The children's miracle network organizations raises money to help hospitalized kids. The contributions that are given to this organization helps pay for up to date equipment and train the staff are needed to help the kids. The contributions also provide health care for the children whose parents cant afford it. Seven hundred seventy hospitals affiliated with the children's miracle network hospitals. These are why key clubbers support this organization.
The Youth Opportunities Fund: This fund is endowed for Key Club International within the Kiwanis International Foundation. This fund help serve the world of Key Club by providing funds and grants for service opportunities. This fund is established through gifts to the G. Harold Martin Fellowships. The application for a grant will be available in July.

Vision Partners Landscape Structures: Playgrounds encourage many children to spend more time outside, and enjoy nature. Landscape structures have partnered up with Key Club to provide opportunities to bring play to communities around the globe. Many Key Clubbers have gotten to build a new play grounds for bright young kids who deserve it.
Nickelodeon: Nickelodeon joined the Key Club family as a 2013 Vision Partner of Key Club International with a focus on its Big Help initiative, this addresses issues in service, education, the environment and health.
U.S Army: commitment look out for our nations youth for their fuThe U.S Army has a common goal with many of Americas educators, to motivate, educate and train todays young youth to be wise decision makers and leaders to achieve life long success. Partnerships with educational organizations help promote education of all students, and also demonstrates the Army’s ture success.
Co-Sponsors Rustic Pathways: Partnered with Key Club is opportunity for key clubbers all around the country to take their leadership skills international. It provides key clubbers exceptional cultural immersion and wonderful community service programs that allow you to explore the world. And make a difference globally.

DON’T MISS OUT AND JOIN THE PNW CKI! CIRCLE K INTERNTIONAL Circle K International (CKI) is the premier collegiate and university community service, leadership development, and friendship organization in the world. With more than 12,600 members in 17 nations, CKI is making a positive impact on the world every day. Circle K clubs are organized and sponsored by a Kiwanis club on a college or university campus. CKI is a self-governing organization and elects its own officers, conducts its own meetings, and determines its own service activities. Today, Circle K is on 19 campuses across the Pacific Northwest and has 371 members. The PNW District includes the states of Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington as well as the province of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Officer Training:
Officer Training will still be held sometime in the months of June, July and August depending on the days officers are available. During officer training, I shall go over the roles of each officer in clubs and make sure that they are confident of what they will be doing for the next upcoming school year.
Presidential Meetings:
It has been made official that presidential council meetings are on 13th of every month from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. PCMs will be hosted at the Starbucks across the Vancouver Westview Mall by Jamba Juice. During these meetings we will be discussing many things from membership growth and ways to improve and dues, training and etc. PCMs will help your presidents be organized and in general know what is going on in the other areas in our division. So it is mandatory for presidents to attend. Since summer is coming up, many individuals will be gone on vacation, if a president has something conflicting with our monthly PCMs, they shall inform me days before the PCMs, so I can be informed.

PACIFIC NORTHWEST DISTRICT BOARD Hello Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers, My name is Juliet Yu and I’m your 2016-2017 District Governor. I am both honored and thrilled to serve alongside the PNW District Board and with caring leaders like you! Being apart of Key Club has been one of the best experiences in my life and I can’t wait to continue this in our Pacific Northwest District! For our journey together, I truly believe this year will be one of the greatest the Pacific Northwest District has ever seen. Since stepping into Key Club, I’ve always strived to establish personal connections with each individual. DISTRICT APPOINTED OFFICERS Hello there my fellow PNW District Key Clubbers, Stella Gonzalez is the name and Key Club is my game. Service is something I have always valued over all other traits and I am very excited to serve as your Membership Growth and Reactivation Director for this upcoming year. Even though my title may seem long, convoluted and frivolous I assure you that my job is to help you guys make all of your jobs easier. My role will be to help charter new clubs, reactivate suspended or inactive clubs, and to generally oversee the growth of our very own Key Club family. Yes, I have a goal in mind to the amount of key clubbers I would like our district to achieve this year; but what is more important to me are the kind of people and personality traits we are adding into our district.
