Appeal continues over YarrowBay developments By Dennis Box Editor
The state Court of Appeals is the next stop on the legal highway for Toward Responsible Development’s Land Use Petition Act appeal of the YarrowBay master planned developments that was denied by Superior Court Judge Patrick H. Oishi Aug. 27. Tow a rd Re sp on sible Development (TRD) filed the appeal in October 2010 following the approval of the permits for the The Villages and Lawson Hills in September 2010 and the find-
appeal filed following Oishi’s decision. “Our briefs demonstrated numerous problems with the MPDs,” Bricklin wrote in the Sept. 10 email. “The city’s own study showed that the project would have ing by city hearing examiner, Phil a negative impact on the city’s budOlbrechts, the Final Environmental get, contrary to city code requiring these mega projects to keep the Impact Statements were legalcity in the black.” ly adequate. It doesn’t serve to persuade the citizens that a further appeal would be in vain. It assures that his decision will have no persuasive impact on the Court of Appeals.” Sterbank wrote, “This comment is ironic, and seems to blame Judge Oishi for a decision petitioners had already made. Mr. Bricklin’s own proposed order stated that, ‘Because appellate review, if any, is of the city’s decisions, not the Superior Court’s decisions, entries of findings of fact and conclusions of law are not necessary.’ Given the petitioners’ awareness that detailed or

Agreeing to serve time behind bars and register as a sex offender, Enumclaw’s Samuel Shane Alvidrez pleaded guilty to attempted rape of a child in the third degree. Alvidrez, who operated a martial arts studio on Cole Street at the time of his May 2011 arrest, had originally been charged with two counts of child rape. A spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office said an agreement on a lesser charge was reached, in part, to spare his young victim from having to testify. Alvidrez, 51, is scheduled to appear Oct. 26 before King County Superior Court Judge

We doubted that was the case. RAPE FROM 1 Mariane Spearman, who will announce sentencing. While Alvidrez has agreed to terms with prosecutors, Spearman is not bound to follow those recommendations. Alvidrez has offered an Alford plea, which allows him to maintain his innocence while agreeing that sufficient evidence exists to result in a guilty verdict, should he go before a judge or jury. In a court statement, he wrote: “I am entering an Alford plea of guilty solely to take advantage of the state’s plea offer to reduce the charges…and to avoid putting (the victim) through a trial.” If the judge follows the prosecutor’s recommendation, Alvidrez will be sentenced to one year in jail, with six months
course, because any appeal is limited to the record, which does not include the Phase 1A plat,” Sterbank wrote. “More to the point, programmatic environmental review is not limited to an SEIS, (supplemental environmental impact statement) but includes multiple options for subsequent phases of environmental review. These include issuance of an addendum, which contains additional environmental information or analysis, but which is not appealable, and review of a new environmental checklist, analysis, and issuance of a mitigated determination of nonsignificance (MDNS).

The judge also could order that financial restitution be made to the victim. The case against Alvidrez was investigated by the Enumclaw Police Department and began in March 2011 when the victim’s father told police his 15-year-old daughter had been in a sexual relationship with Alvidrez. The girl had first met Alvidrez in 2009 when she began taking classes as his martial arts studio. She told investigators the two had sexual contact for the first time in early 2010 and the contact continued into January 2011, both at the Cole Street studio and at the Alvidrez home in Enumclaw.
Mr. Pilcher testified about these options during the MPD appeal hearings, and petitioners never disputed it. For the Phase 1A plat, the city chose the MDNS route, a perfectly legitimate option.” COST AND FEES According to Sterbank the petitioners “will have to pay both the city and YarrowBay’s attorneys’ fees on appeal.” Sterbank stated the fees for the appeal before Oishi fell under RCW 4.84.370 that calls for “reasonable fees and cost.” Total bill for that proceeding came to

Sterbank said if the petitioners lose at the court of appeals the fees could be considerably higher. “If the city wins on appeal, the petitioners must pay the city’s attorneys fees and costs, as well as YarrowBay’s, because the city and YarrowBay prevailed in the prior judicial proceeding before Judge Oishi,” Sterbank wrote. “On the other hand, if the petitioners were to somehow win, the city would not have to pay petitioners’ attorneys’ fees, because petitioners did not prevail in all prior judicial proceedings (e.g., before Judge Oishi).”
DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT TRD, the city and YarrowBay were back in Superior Court before Oishi Sept. 24 concerning a LUPA appeal of the development agreements for The Villages and Lawson Hills. The development agreements were approved in December 2011 by the City Council. Making the leap from crib to bed Much of a young child’s life revolves around adapting to new situations. Even when a routine is established, things can change and new skills must be learned. From moving from bottle to cup, to giving up a pacifier, to no longer using diapers or training pants, young children must tackle a lot of transitions. One such transition is making the switch from sleeping in a crib to sleeping in a bed. A crib can be a safe, comforting place for a child. But over time, the crib may no longer be the right place for the child to rest and this can manifest itself in a number of ways. For instance, a child may attempt to climb over the railing edge. When such behavior persists, most parents consider switching to a toddler bed, or a twin-sized bed with safety railings. Not every child has the same feelings about a “big boy or girl” bed. Some are excited about the prospect while others feel a bit frightened. There are certain things a parent can do to make the process go more smoothly for all involved. • Get talking. Before buying the bed, start talking about it with
your child. Talk about how the new bed will be comfortable and exciting and how your child is no longer a baby. Go to the store and look at all of the beds available. If your toddler has an older sibling, let the youngster try out his or her older sibling’s bed. • Childproof the room. Chances are your child already plays in his or her room, so it already may be full of safety features. To be on the super-safe side, however, give it another look and be sure all electrical outlets are sealed, top-heavy furniture is secured, and items that pose safety risks are removed. • Repurpose a safety gate. Since your child will now have free reign to get out of bed when he or she desires, prevent middle-of-thenight roaming or leaving the house while you are sleeping; block the bedroom doorway with a gate. This will be for the child’s protection and give you peace of mind. • Choose the right time. It’s best not to make a substantial change to your child’s sleeping environment when there are other major events going on. Moving to a new home or welcoming a new baby into the house can be stressful. Wait
Not all kids adapt easily to change. When the time is right for a child to make the switch from a crib to a bed, parents can take steps to make the transition as easy as possible. until later to move to the bed. • Stick to the same pre-sleep routine. Children are creatures of habit and like to know what is coming next. Therefore, stick to the same routine around bedtime so that all will feel familiar. This may include reading a story, brushing teeth, putting on pajamas, straightening up the room, or singing a lullaby together. • Choose the transition type that works for your family. Some parents choose to leave the crib
up and slowly transition to the bed. For example, parents may let the child nap in the bed throughout the day and sleep in the crib at night. Still, some parents prefer the out-of-sight, out-of-mind method of taking apart the crib and making the bed the sole option for sleeping. Gauge your child’s reaction to the bed and select the option that you think will work. And remember, if the crib is still safe and comfortable for your child, there is no rush

in switching to a bed. Just like other milestones in a kid’s life, this one is reached when the child is ready. Parents should also avoid letting their children sleep in Mom and Dad’s bed. There’s a high price Letters No reason to change paid for freedom Black Diamond system How do you react to injustice when dealing with your government or in the workplace? That was one of the questions I asked myself on my recent trip to visit my daughter and family in South Africa. While there, we visited the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg. Before I went there I thought I had an understanding of why and how apartheid - segregation of the races in South Africa - began. My visit made me realize the reasons behind the creation of apartheid were more complex. The causes of apartheid are based upon history and demographics (more blacks than whites), but also economics. Rich Elfers Apartheid became Columnist law in great part to protect the wealth of the South African mine owners from poor white and black workers who might unite against them to improve their working conditions. Apartheid became the law of the land beginning officially in 1948 and lasting until Nelson Mandela was elected president in 1994. Yet with colonialism and South Africa’s history of British rule, the precedent was well set many years before. The journey to apartheid actually began in the 1600s when Dutch, German and French Protestants fled religious persecution in Europe and traveled to Cape Town, South Africa, to set up a colony. These Europeans enslaved the indigenous blacks to work the fields. When the British government took over the Cape Colony from the Dutch after the Napoleonic Wars in 1815, it wasn’t long before they outlawed slavery. This new law angered about 6,000 Boers (farmers who were descendants of the first settlers) who didn’t want the British to tell them to free their slaves. They left the Cape Colony with their wives, children and slaves and journeyed northeast by wagon train on what is now called the Great Trek. They formed two Boer Republics: Transvaal and the Orange Free State. In 1886 gold was discovered around Johannesburg in the Transvaal. British greed led them to conquer and annex the two Boer Republics. The Boers resisted in what became known as the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902) using guerrilla warfare . They were excellent horsemen and fighters and the British had great difficulty defeating them. The British decided the only way to beat the Boers was to destroy the Boer farms and round up their women, children and old men and put them into concentration camps. Nearly 28,000 died from disease and starvation. This tactic cut off supplies to the Boer guerrillas, forcing

Are you a regular user of social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc?
More than a few years ago, the council and I, as mayor, looked at the possibility of changing to a councilmanager form of government. We had advisers from the Association of Washington Cities and others talk to us about pros and cons of such a change. We, the mayor and council, weighed all the information and found there was no reason to change a form of government that is utilized in over 80 percent of the cities in Washington state. The mayor-council form of government gives the city the checks and balances that need to be in place for a fair government. Although the council-manager
form can work well, it has its problems. If a city manager, who is the person in charge and is hired to run the city, is undesirable, it takes a majority of the council to fire that person and usually occurs after considerable community strife. Often times, the city manager is hired with a five-year contract. To fire a city manager before the contract ends usually comes with a high cost to the taxpayers. Washington cities are currently experiencing difficulty in hiring good, experienced city managers, especially when a city is exhibiting any kind of turmoil. The price tag for someone to take the position here could approach $200,000 per year. Where will that money come from? What city services will need to change or be cut to pay for the manager? The police? Fire protection? A large portion of the salary would come from the general fund.
With Proposition No. 1, we have an attempt to change what has worked well in Black Diamond for over 50 years. The position of mayor is an elected position. If people do not want the mayor in office, then at the next election they simply vote the person out of office. The same is said for council members. It works well and citizens get to exercise their right to vote for the people who run their city. If we are not satisfied with this new form of government, it cannot be changed back for six years. An elected mayor has close ties to and is a neighbor in the community. A city manager could live many miles from here. It is a job to them, not a way of life. An elected mayor is invested in the community. Make certain that your vote this election is for the right reason.

Feels good to keep things local Well, I was gonna check my email the other night, which I’m sure is also a daily ritual for many of you. I clicked on the Internet but received, instead, a rather startling and unsettling result. The damned thing froze up on me. It wouldn’t move or respond in any way. Indeed, I couldn’t even turn it off without pulling the power plug and, thereafter, every time I turned it on I got the same results. The screen was filled with an official-looking notice from the “FBI.” It said the porn I’d been watching was extremely vile and, consequently, the government had closed my station. My computer would only be

is probably the wrong word because it suggests an intimacy that porn lacks – I just looked at the standard, all-American, good ol’ raunchy porn. And second, really now, doesn’t the FBI have anything better to do than check on my viewing habits? And fine me $200 dollars? So, I carried the damned thing down to the dudes at XPC+ (xpert PC plus) on Cole Street. Yeah, it was a virus. They’d seen it before. I’m probably the most computer illiterate fellow who ever came down the pike and I trust most of you

ELFERS FROM 6 them to surrender. The husband of one of the families I stayed with while I was touring the northeastern part of the country told me his great-grandfather had his farm burned and was imprisoned in a British concentration camp where he died. Some Boers still remain bitter toward the British after the suffering and death that resulted from the concentration camps more than 100 years ago. The Boers were impoverished until many moved into the cities along with blacks looking for jobs. The ruling white elite, fearful that the poor, white Boers might link up with the poor blacks against them, devised a clever plan: The mine owners and government officials cooperated to increase Boer fears and distrust of blacks to further divide the workers. The business and political leaders in South Africa created this division by having two tiers of workers - whites, who got the better jobs and pay, while black workers got the dirtier, more dangerous jobs and poorer living conditions. While the black men moved to the mines, their wives and families were not allowed to follow, staying behind in the tribal lands. This practice of separation has been proven to encourage sexual promiscuity and, eventually, with the coming of HIV, the AIDS epidemic that has devastated such a high percentage of the South
WALLY FROM 6 aren’t much better. I simply gave my machine to those technicians in the XPC+ back room and they slapped the contraption back in shape. African population. The wealthy and powerful South African whites were not alone in using this tactic. History is full of examples where one group wants someone lower than them. A major example from our own history is when poor southern whites worked with southern aristocrats after the Civil War to create legalized segregation of the races in the South - Jim Crow. These discriminatory laws lasted until the Civil Rights Movement forced an end to them with the passage of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts in 1964 and 1965. Apartheid ended after years of black protest and violence in the black townships and international pressure through sanctions and boycotts. The white elites came to realize that a minority of white leaders cannot control a majority of the population without their consent. They released Nelson Mandela from prison in 1990. He and the African National Congress were swept into power through elections in 1994, bringing an end to white injustice in the government and in work. The lesson I carried away from the Apartheid Museum that day is that fighting injustice is never easy and it often comes at a great cost to those who resist. A whole “lost generation” of South African blacks in the 1970s and 1980s lost an opportunity for a good education because they boycotted the schools and rioted in the townships. They are suffering from poverty and frustration today. As the bumper stickers say, “Freedom isn’t free” for them or for us.

Postal worker took extra step to help a customer Last week I stopped by the drop box at the Enumclaw U.S. Mail Distribution Center to mail a birthday card for my grandson, Garrick, who was turning 16 in a few days. The second I let the card drop, I realized it didn’t have a stamp. And without it, he would never get the card in time. I noticed the gate to the center’s parking lot was opened, so I pulled in and went up to the door. I knocked four or five times. No one answered.
Frank Hicks arrived at my door and installed the new system in a hour or two. By the way, both operations, XPC+ and Skynet, are owned by Chuck Bender, a very sociable and cheerful fellow with a good sense of humor. (At least he laughed at this column.) It’s comforting to know that if I have any problems in the future I’ll be involved with a local company rather than my former server, AOL. In the past, whenever I had system problems I had to spend several hours listen-
ing to God-awful “holding” music (“your call is important to us”) until I could finally speak to someone in India or Singapore, only to discover I couldn’t decipher their accent anyway. From now on, Skynet will also be handling my phone and its rates are cheaper than CenturyLink ever was. And, here again, in my past

FREE Wage & Hour Seminar Part 1: Compliance with Washington Laws on Employee Breaks
After I returned to the car, I just couldn’t leave; my grandson and his birthday meant everything to me. I said a few prayers and as stubborn and relentless as people know me to be, I tried once more. This time, an employee named Richard answered. He must have wondered what I was up to, so I just explained my dilemma -- I even had a tear in my eye. “I don’t think you can help me, but...” Just like something you’d see in the movies, Richard just stood there and stared. I am sure at this point that he must have wondered about me. Without any hesitation, he said “OK.” He leaned over into a large bin where the mail had dropped and dug through a few pieces before he finally found it. This time, I quickly affixed a stamp, handed it back and thanked him again. This might have been just a small gesture to Richard, but his efforts meant the world to me. I just want to give a big thanks to the Post Office and to Richard for the service he provided but wasn’t required to do. We hear so many complaints nowadays about the lack of customer service. But Richard proved that in my hometown of Enumclaw, heroes still care about the little things. And, by the way, Garrick got his card in time. White River gets past Fife Trojans

The White River High defense pitched a shutout during the first half and then came up big in the waning moments, leading the Hornets to a 20-14, Friday night victory over the visiting Fife Trojans. The victory pushed the Hornets’ record to 1-2 in South Puget Sound League 2A play, 2-3 overall. White River jumped to a 17-0 lead during the opening two quarters, getting on the scoreboard first when Dustin France connected on a 26-yard field goal. Devin Liebel tacked on a short scoring run before the first period came to a close. The only scoring in the second quarter was the result of a 17-yard pass from Zach McMillen to Garret Quiles, followed by France’s extra-point kick. Fife made things close with a short touchdown run in the third quarter and another in the fourth. All the Hornets could muster in the second half was a 32-yard field goal by France. The Trojans made things interesting late, but the White River defense came up big in the clutch. The Hornets go in search of their second SPSL 2A victory Friday night when they travel to meet Franklin Pierce. The Cardinals bring up the rear in the league standings, off to an 0-3 start following losses to Orting, Steilacoom and, most recently, the Sumner Spartans.

The Junior Hornets youth football franchise traveled to Tacoma Saturday to take on the NE Tigers at 100-year-old Stadium High School. Coming off a tough battle against Bellarmine the weekend before, the Junior Hornets got back on track with a sweep of the Northeast Tigers. In the fourth-grade game, Keegan Sutter broke loose for two touchdown runs and Kaden Loop
added a touchdown reception. Reliable extra-point kicker Tyler Feddema was a perfect four-for-four, capping off a 32-18 victory. The fifth-grade team flexed their defensive muscle, posting the only shutout of the day, resulting in a 22-0 win. Quarterback Zack Jones threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Ben Pozun. Aidan Carroll had a twoyard touchdown run and

The Enumclaw homecoming football game provided everything from high scoring action, three touchdown passes and field goals – everything but a victory. The Hornets battled Auburn Mountainview to double overtime before finally falling 24-23 when the Lions’ Devin Bryant’s blocked the extra-point attempt. Enumclaw put up the first numbers when the duo of quarterback Peter Nordby
hit junior Bryce Peterson on the first of three touchdowns through the air. In the first frame, Nordby hit Peterson on a 12-yard pass for the touchdown. The Hornets posted 10 points in the fourth to tie the game. Again Nordby hit Peterson on a 32-yard touchdown pass. Caleb Gwerder hit a 20-yard field goal to send the game into overtime. In the second overtime Nordby hit Peterson for a third time on a 9-yard pass for six. The Lions blocked

Nate Belcourt had multiple long runs, one reslting in a touchdown. The sixth-grade Junior Hornets extended their season record to 5-1 and didn’t give up a first down to the Tigers in the entire first half. Jett VanHoof and Nick Harberts each scored a rushing touchdown and Henry Henken scored twice on tight-end reverse plays. Ross Olson took the opening kickoff in the seventh-grade game 70 yards to the Tigers’ 3-yard line. Quarterback Matt Funkhouser punched the ball into the end zone to jump start the Hornets en route to a 45-12 win. Bear Kuro was on fire all day, scoring three times, one on an acrobatic 30-yard reception in the end zone and another on a 60-yard interception return for TD.

In search of a much-needed victory, the eighth-grade Junior Hornets entered the game missing several key players. Zak Carroll got the Hornets on the board early, but it was up to their team defense to establish a tough-minded identity to stave off the Tigers’ offense. Coming out at halftime trailing 8-7, the Hornets battled on both sides of the ball and finally broke open the game with a 30-yard bomb from QB Jake Revell to wide receiver Jake Treece, resulting in a 1st and goal from the 1-yard line. Time for Lawn Rangers to spread the fertilizer weeds: a lawn that has nitrogen at root level in early spring can outgrow and overcome the shallow-rooted weeds. A thick lawn is your best weed defense. You still have time to aerate, add an inch of topsoil and overseed your old lawn before winter sets in. Tackle these fall field goals now and you’ll be scoring great yardage all year long. W hen should I apply lime to my lawn? I know my soil is acid because I have a lot of moss in the lawn. I do have hard-packed, clay soil and I have read that lime will help break up clay soil. True? shears and cut your sambucus down to size. A severe pruning always stimulates growth and now is not the season to encourage tender new leaves. Another reason to wait is so the birds can enjoy those berries all winter. You can cut back all the new growth to 1-inch stumps or you can saw down the trunk and start all over. This is one tough shrub so don’t be afraid to be severe in the spring. Elderberry is native to our climate, has edible berries and does great with our wet winters. I’ve found elderberry even survives and blooms a little in a deeply-shaded bed where the dark, chocolate leaves make a lovely background for variegated shrubs. A
test sold at garden centers can tell you the pH of your soil, but mossy, damp soils in our area are almost always very acid. Lime is the cheap and easy answer to a better lawn. I planted a gorgeous ‘Black Lace’ sambucus or chocolate elderberry a few years ago and love the dark chocolate foliage, pink spring f lowers and autumn berries. My problem is this shrub has grown too big and is now a tree! I must prune it. Would fall be a good time to cut it back? R.S., Tacoma Pat ience a nd some persistence will keep your “Black Lace” sambucus under control. Wait until early spring , in the month of March, to sharpen your

The first week of October celebrates cool nights and the end of warm afternoon sunshine – perfect weather for transplanting, digging and dividing perennials and fertilizing the lawn with a slow-release, fall and winter lawn food. If you only fertilize your grass once a year, make it an autumn feeding. A lawn fertilized in the fall with an organic or slow-release fertilizer will have an advantage over the weeds in the spring. This is because the winter rains can move the nitrogen down into the grass roots where it will be available immediately in February when the lawn wakes up from winter dormancy. Here’s the secret to more grass and fewer

BINETTI FROM 12 colorful couple to share a shady bed with no drinking problems would be Black Lace elderberry getting cozy with Mr. Goldstrike aucuba. The gold-splattered leaves of aucuba have a broad and bold texture that make a pleasing contrast with the fine texture of the chocolate elderberry. I have a compost pile and am not sure what to do with it. I’ve been adding grass clippings and garden waste for a few years and under the newer layer of clippings I do see dark soil so I think I have compost. When do I spread this onto the garden beds? In the spring or in the fall? How deep do I apply the compost and must I dig it into the vegetable bed? C., email What a wonderful gift you have for your garden. You can add compost to your vegetable and f lower beds this month and let the winter rains help mix in the organic matter. If you have small weeds, fork the compost right on top of them now in a layer up to 6 inches deep. The heavy compost will smother those weeds and then you can work it into the soil in the spring. Use a very thin layer of compost – less than 1 inch deep near the stems or crowns of shrubs and perennials if you apply it in the fall. Compost in our climate can hold so much moisture over the winter it can encourage crown rot. Don’t worry if the newer grass clippings and garden debris on top of your compost pile are not yet well-rotted. You can add this half-done compost to an empty bed or vegetable plot and not dig it into the soil until spring. Winter is the season when all things rot and in a few months that chunky organic matter will be dark and soft, ready to work into the topsoil.

If you’re troubled and feeling alone, reach out I don’t know about you, but I really don’t like bad news. Whether it be articles online or in the paper, or those calls at 3 in the morning, I hate bad news! It seems like every day it is an increasing effort to think positively and to keep looking for the joy and contentment that Paul writes about in his letter to the church at Philippi. And of course, he writes of “being content” regardless of the situation. Considering the number of beatings, shipwrecks and whatnot that Paul went through, I guess he must be onto something if he found contentment. This morning I read an article that was “bad news.” It said more Americans now commit suicide than are killed in car crashes. Part of the article indicated that
deaths in car crashes are down because of the new safety equipment in cars (good news!), but it also expressed that suicides are up 15 percent. That Len Bundy is definitely bad news. WonGeneration Many of our lives have been touched by suicide and, according to statistics, many, many more average Americans contemplate suicide. In Washington state, one in 20 consider suicide. People of faith are often further challenged in their feeling of depression, helplessness and despair because somehow we have this message in our heads that, “if we are truly seeking God then we won’t feel this way.” I have no idea how this lie crept into the faith community. Our bibles are filled with individuals who demonstrated their own challenges with

depression and even considered suicide. Greats of the faith such as Elijah (the prophet who calls down fire from heaven and God gives him an incredible miracle and yet we find him hiding in a cave a short time later), Jeremiah (known as “the weeping prophet”) and even David, the great king of Israel and the only person described in scripture as being “a man after God’s own heart” demonstrated the challenges of depression in many of his psalms. The truth is, we have our most growth in our relationship with Jesus through our most difficult times. It is not our “mountain top” experiences which bring us closer to God, even though they may feel incredibly “spiritual,” but rather our dark and pain filled times in which it is only by the amazing grace of God that we are able to keep going. Sometimes, we too, will find ourselves at our own garden of Gethsemane in
As part of an artist’s statement, Doyle wrote: “Being a military wife, I was able to take advantage of international instructors, and I was exposed to many different techniques and mediums in my artistic career.” She has studied under artists in Iran, Germany, Mexico and the United States. “I believe that a finished piece
which our lord prayed with such fervor he literally sweated blood. It is because of this experience that we know God knows our darkest and most difficult moments…and he is there waiting for us. As Paul writes, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength,” we get the beginnings of the key toward finding that joy. There is great comfort in going through difficult times with someone who can love us even though we are imperfect. During these difficult times, if you are feeling extremely depressed, overwhelmed or feeling there is no way out of your situation, please seek out others to help. Your doctor, your faith community, your friends, need to know what you are going through. If you are feeling alone, reach out to the faith community and let them be the hands and feet of Jesus. I promise you two things: joy and contentment are within your reach and we care.
of artwork has captured some of that individual artist’s heart and soul. And thus, like giving birth, it is a new and one of a kind creation,” Doyle wrote. A Texas native, Doyle moved to Enumclaw to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. Through the Arts Alive! community, she has made numerous friends and acquaintances and continues
to paint and exhibit at the Arts Alive! Gallery.
