Brenda Jacober has done so much in her 37 years as a city employee – including the last 21 as city clerk – that the Kent City Council gave her a standing ovation at her final council meeting.
After all these years, Jacober, 65, has decided to retire. Her final day is Dec. 31, which Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke has proclaimed as Brenda Jacober Day. “We just want you to know how much we appreciate you and that we love your smile,” Councilman Les Thomas said to Jacober
Brenda Jacober says it’s time to do other things after serving the city of Kent since 1975, the last 21 as city clerk.

Reacting to the Connecticut tragedy, Kent School District Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas says the district is doing all it can to protect its students. “I want to personally reassure you that the safety and well-being of your child is of the utmost importance to us at KSD,” Vargas posted this week on the district’s website, www.kent. k12.wa.us, “and that we have done and will continue to do all we can to insulate our students from danger. “Please know that your child’s safety is, has been and always will
be our number one priority.” The school district posted safety procedures and tips for parents on how to help children cope with emotions after Vargas tragic events. The school district also provided information about its safety and security procedures. “As a community and as a school district, we all share the responsibilities and concerns about keeping our [ more SCHOOLS page 7 ]

H.D. Hotspurs, which opened in 1979, closed in April after 32 years as a restaurant and nightclub. The former state liquor store, Furniture Plus and Lil’s Thrift Shop all closed by the end of May to make room for Goodwill. An outlet store carries items that were not sold at Goodwill retail stores, so prices are even lower. “The outlet store is a bargain and treasure hunter’s dream come true, Bedell said. “Clothing, housewares, glassware, books, media and toys are sold by the pound, unless specifically marked. Merchandise is not pre-sorted. Customers sort through a variety of items in large blue bins. Most merchandise bins rotate approximately every
two hours, replaced with completely different selection merchandise. The Kent Outlet Store will accept donations. People can drop off gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Goodwill is a non-profit business that turns donated goods and business revenue into programs that help people with disabilities and disadvantages get jobs. Bedell said devout followers of the outlet stores show up to wait for arrival of goods. The company has outlet stores in Seattle, Tacoma, Everett and Vancouver. The outlet stores serve as the liquidation centers for Goodwill retail stores, according to www.frugalliving. about.com. In most cases, merchandise is moved to an outlet location if it fails to sell within six weeks.

Man pleads guilty to vehicular homicide BY STEVE HUNTER
shunter@kentreporter.com
A 19-year-old Kent man pleaded guilty Tuesday to vehicular homicide in connection with the death of a 55-year-old Kent motorcyclist Aug. 22 on a Panther Lake neighborhood street. Justin Jerald Cordova is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 1 in Seattle before King County Superior Court Judge Carol Schapira, according to
the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Cordova faces a sentencing range of 6½ to 8½ years under a new state law that took effect in June. The previous sentencing range was 2½ to 3½ years. Cordova remained Tuesday in the county jail at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. David Daniel was riding his motorcycle at about 6:44 a.m. westbound in the 12100 block of Southeast 223rd
Drive when a Nissan coupe driven eastbound by Cordova crossed the centerline and collided with the motorcycle. Daniel died at the scene. Daniel and Cordova lived just onehalf mile from each other and a few blocks from the accident scene. Prosecutors said Cordova had a blood-alcohol level of 0.12 percent and traveled at high speed. Witnesses reported that Cordova had been going an estimated 65 mph
on Southeast 223rd Drive just prior to the accident. They described the car as going “freeway speed.” The posted speed is 25 mph in the residential neighborhood. Cordova, who was 18 at the date of the accident, told Kent Police officers that he had been drinking Red Bull and Jaegermeister at about 11 the previous night. He said he was going about 45 mph.
Two Kent women hurt in I-90 wreck Two Kent women who attend Washington State University were injured in a single-vehicle accident that killed another student Saturday, Dec. 15 on an icy Interstate 90 about 17 miles east of Ellensburg. Leah E. Baird, 19, of Kent, was driving a 2003 Ford Escape at about 10:40 a.m. Saturday westbound on I-90 when the sports utility vehicle went out of control on the icy road, left the roadway, rolled over and ended up its side, according to a Washington State Patrol media release. Alex D. Shiley, of Kent,
was one of four passengers in the SUV. Both Baird and Shiley were treated and released at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital in Ellensburg, said a hospital spokeswoman. Austin M. Scott, 18, of Lake Forest Park, died at the scene of the accident, according to the State Patrol. Susan L. Cannarella, 20, of Poulsbo, and Weson A. Osborne, 18, of Omak, also were injured in the accident. Osborne was transported to Kittitas Valley Hospital and later to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Scott and Osborne were not wearing seat belts.
according to a Kent Fire Department media release. Icy road conditions were contributing factors to the accident. A light snow struck several areas of town in the morning. Thirty-four children were on the bus headed for Millennium Elementary School. All were evacuated by Kent
Fire Department firefighters through an emergency door on the side of the bus because the main door was blocked by the ditch. The district sent out another bus to get the children to school. The Kent Police Department is investigating the crash.

King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg announced a renewed effort aimed at increasing sentence ranges for juveniles who illegally possess firearms. Juvenile gun crimes have increased dramatically across the state and the proposal has gained the support of gun rights advocates and Washington Ceasefire. In a news

conference Nov. 28, Satterberg was joined by gun rights advocate Dave Workman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and Ralph Fascitelli of Washington Ceasefire, who support reforming juvenile gun laws. State Sen. Adam Kline and State Rep. Chris Hurst also expressed their support at the news conference, as did Seattle City Attorney Peter Holmes. Satterberg said he will take this measure to the Washington State Legislators and ask them to introduce a bill in the 2013 legislative session. It currently takes five
convictions of unlawful possession of a firearm second degree before a juvenile is sent to the Department of Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration (JRA), where the youth will serve a sentence of 15 weeks. The proposal by Satterberg would call for a mandatory 10-day sentence upon the first conviction, and a 15-week sentence upon the second conviction. “On most issues you would not find common ground between Washington Ceasefire and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, but they join together with prosecutors on this issue, Satterberg said. “Our
state law regarding illegal gun possession by juveniles is ridiculously lenient, and serves neither the youth nor public safety, he added. Under current law a juvenile must be convicted of five felonies before a conviction for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree (UPFA 2) results in a sentence at the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration (JRA) of 15 to 36 weeks. Current law calls for a mandatory 10-day sentence for the first four convictions for UPFA 2nd Degree. Numerous sentencing alternatives exist however, that can make the mandatory 10-day sentence meaningless.

With a vote of 4-3, the Kent City Council members approved an anemic budget that fails to avoid a fiscal calamity down the road. There was no political will to pressure valley businesses into paying a business and occupation (B&O) tax comparable to that assessed in other Washington cities. The Chamber of Commerce was adamant in its refusal to pay its fair share in support of the city in which it does business. The $5 million guesstimate assigned to street and roads will be short a couple of million to do the job properly. The business community refused dollars in support of city administration except for the $300,000 for setup. The bare minimum.

Question of the week:
The end of the world has come. Again. On Friday, for the umpteenth time in recorded human history, our world comes to an end. This prediction comes courtesy the long form Mayan calendar, which resets today, naming Dec. 21, 2012 as Earth’s final day. Although nobody seems to agree exactly on what form the end will take, you can bet your sweet bippy it will be cataclysmic and worthy of a high-budget Hollywood feature film (and it comes during the Christmas film season as well.) Some have proposed the possibility of a cosmic collision with a previously undiscovered planet (called either X or Nibiru). Originally this was supposed to have happened in 2003, but when the mystery planet failed to smash into Earth, the catastrophe was rescheduled. Others claim a solar maximum – a period of great solar activity featuring increased sunspots and solar flares – will trigger a reversal of our planet’s magnetic poles. Some theorize that previous reversals resulted in mass extinction events such as the disappearance of the dinosaur and the vanishing of fins on automobiles. Most likely the only tragedy that could come from a pole reversal would be one confused Santa Claus and scores of befuddled penguins. Another theory is that the Sun will align with a supermassive (now there’s a fun word) black hole called Sagittarius A* located in the center of our galaxy. This will obviously end badly for us, with the Earth sucked into the gravity well of Sag A* like a dust mote into a Hoover. [ more SKAGER page 6 ]

He is a past board member of the Kent School District, a Kiwanian, volunteer track and wrestling coach and has spent count-
B&O because they had no defense against the charge that they are the primary culprit when it comes to road damage from large commercial trucks. But the business community had no interest in contributing to the city’s parks, human services and administration. The ShoWare Center is another elephant in the room. It’s a trophy arena that’s hemorrhaging hundreds of thousands of dollars with no end in sight. It probably needs to be closed, but as long as nearby businesses are benefiting from the arena traffic, the city will continue to go in debt because, again, business interests and profits prevail over the city’s financial well-being. Homeowners will continue to be presented with propositions to fund the parks and other services, while businesses will rally to prevent any further increase in the B&O tax. [ more LETTERS page 6 ]

KING COUNTY sold two series of bonds last week, totaling $31.4 million, at near-zero interest rates. “You can’t do much better than near-zero interest, and we can take advantage of these historically low rates thanks to our success in returning King County to sound financial footing,” County Executive Dow Constantine said. Part of the bond proceeds will be used to fund relocation of Southeast District Court to the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, and for several technology improvement projects that include upgrading the county’s telephone system, migrating from a mainframe to a modern computing environment and making improvements to the county’s computing network. King County received 13 bids to purchase the first series of taxexempt bonds totaling $25.4 million. The winning bid was from Fidelity Capital markets at an Interest cost of 1.16 percent for bonds that mature in stages over the next 15 years.

Racing legend helps open new business Firestone celebrates with Mario Andretti BY KRIS HILL khill@covingtonreporter.com
Mario Andretti, a racing legend whose resume includes wins in NASCAR’s Daytona 500 as well as the Indianapolis 500 among many others, helped open the new Firestone in Covington Dec. 14 and broke the ceremonial scissors in the process. The racing legend signed the broken scissors. Turns out he wasn’t the first one, according to staff from the Covington Chamber of Commerce. It was a light moment during what was a joyous grand opening for a new Covington business. Andretti, whose relationship with Firestone since he started racing decades ago, has helped open eight Firestone stores this year including the one in Covington. He explained the company is selective about which stores he makes appearances at, so, it’s something special for him to visit. “These stores are fabulous,” Andretti said. “It’s all about trying to create some awareness that they’re here. Firestone, they’re a very good neigh-
bor. When they come into the community, they become a part of it. They’ll be a good asset.” He commended the design of the store, describing it as “efficient,” while Firestone will provide a full line of tires and services for cars. Andretti added that Firestone selects locations like Covington because the company sees value in communities that are investing in development. During the grand opening ceremony, Firestone donated $500 each to Meals on Wheels and the Covington Rotary Club, demonstrating what Andretti explained about the company’s involvement in the community. It’s something that city officials are pleased about as well, as Covington Mayor Margaret Harto noted. “We are excited to have Firestone come to Covington,” Harto said. “They’re not just sitting on this corner trying to get your business. They’re involved in this community.” With the addition of Firestone, Harto said, it enhances the city’s mission to make Covington a great place to shop, work and play. This wasn’t his first trip

Red Lion will take over the current Quality Inn and Suites at 25100 74th Ave. S., according to a company media release. “The I-5 corridor through Washington and Oregon has a number of very strong markets for us and we are pleased to add another hotel in this region,” said Ron Burgett, executive ice president of lodging and brand development for the Spokane-based Red Lion Hotels Corporation. “The owners of this property are planning more than $600,000 in renovations to the 60 guest rooms, public space and the exterior of the hotel.” The future Red Lion Inn & Suites sits just east of Highway 167 and south of Willis Street. It is near the ShoWare Center, Emerald Downs, Kent Station and the Great Wall Shopping Mall. For more information, go to www.redlion.com.

Andretti raced once at Pacific Raceways on the road course. “I have a faint memory of it,” Andretti said. “I think it was back in the late ’60s, could be ’68 actually. I remember that I finished second … other than that, the closest I’ve raced in the Pacific Northwest is Portland.” In fact, Portland has some special memories for Andretti, who beat his son Michael by seven one-thousandths of a second on Father’s Day in 1986.
“I nipped him right at the end,” Andretti said. “He was so pissed then he realized it was Father’s Day, then he said, ‘Happy Father’s Day.’ ” Andretti, who is 72, was happy to return to Covington to support the latest Firestone store. His relationship with the company goes back to the mid-1960s when he raced on the tires and became a tester of the product. “My relationship with them helped me tremendously to develop my skills,” he said. “I won some major races with Firestone tires, so, the relationship
continued.” During the grand opening ceremony, Andretti told the crowd that even though it’s unlikely most drivers won’t need tires that can handle speeds in excess of 200 mph, the testing and development he’s been involved with ensures that those tires can handle that which enhances their safety on the roads. “When I have the opportunity to make these appearances, I have the ability to talk with some authority,” Andretti said. “It’s one of those win-win relationships.” WASHINGTON FEDERAL has promoted Jennifer Gaube to consumer loan servicing project coordinator officer, announced Roy Whitehead, Washington Federal’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. Officers arrest man for indecent exposure BY STEVE HUNTER
Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of indecent exposure, fourthdegree assault and harassment after he allegedly pulled down his pants in a Safeway store restroom and later fought with a store loss prevention officer. The incident occurred at about 8:41 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Safeway store at 13101 S.E. Kent-Kangley Road, according to the police report. Officers responded to a report of an assault in the store parking lot. The man had fled the scene on foot, but police found him next to the basketball court at the nearby Birch Creek Apartments. The man initially refused orders to get on the ground until an officer pulled out a Taser and threatened to use it. A customer told a store
after he reportedly used his shoulder to bust down the door to a home occupied by his estranged wife and her boyfriend. Officers responded to a domestic dispute at about 11:24 p.m. Dec. 10 in the 23700 block of 51st Place South, according to the police report. The husband had knocked on the door but didn’t get an answer so he used his shoulder to break the door open. The boyfriend had used his body to try to block the door. When the husband entered the home he told his wife to “get this man out of my house. The couple separated about six months ago. The husband had left the house by the time officers arrived. Three officers then went to a SeaTac home to find the husband. He admitted he had damaged the door after arguing on

BLOTTER loss prevention officer that a man in the store restroom was acting strangely and exposing himself. The store officer found the man at the restroom sink with his pants down. He told the man he needed to pull his pants up and leave. The man reportedly threw a punch at the store officer. The man declined to discuss the incident with police. Officers also found a bullet on the man. When they asked him if he had ditched a gun somewhere, he refused to answer.
Malicious mischief Officers arrested a man for investigation of thirddegree malicious mischief
the phone with his wife. He said he was mad because she had another man in their house.
Wire theft Police arrested two men for investigation of thirddegree theft after they allegedly took copper wire from a power box at about 9:10 a.m. Dec. 8 near the intersection of 76th Avenue South and South 212th Street. A passerby called 911 after he saw two men who appeared to be removing wire from a box, according to the police report. Officers found two men who fit the description walking near the intersection. They found copper wire in the backpacks of each man. One man also had two wire cutters. The men had left freshly cut wire at the nearby power box because they
said they got spooked and decided to walk away. Both men admitted to stealing and selling copper wire to help support their meth habits.
Harassment Officers arrested a man for harassment after he threatened to kill his sisterin-law and chased her into a kitchen at about 8:39 a.m. Dec. 10 at an apartment in the 2700 block of South 256th Place. Officers had been at the same address about an hour earlier because the man was heavily intoxicated and yelling, according to the police report. The woman called police because when she told the man to stop drinking, he started to yell at her and chased her toward the kitchen. He stopped at the edge of the kitchen.
KING COUNTY EXECUTIVE DOW CONSTANTINE THIS WEEK applauded proposed new federal rules that would require all wireless carriers, as well as telephone text messaging applications, to deliver emergency 911 text messages in areas where emergency call centers are capable of receiving them. “Our 911 dispatchers already have the equipment to receive text messages, but right now wireless carriers don’t provide this service, said Constantine. “Once they do, we can provide better emergency response to people with hearing or speech disabilities. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) emphasizes that whenever possible, people should make a voice call to 911 during an emergency. VMC nurses honored with DAISY Awards FOR THE REPORTER
Three nurses have been named DAISY Award honorees of the quarter at Valley Medical Center. Toni Wolcott, RN, BSN, Critical Care Unit (CCU); Holly Davis, RNC, Birth Center; and Rae Huggins, RN, Emergency Department (ED) were nominated by their peers, physicians, patients and families, other staff and administrators at the Renton hospital. The nurses exemplify clinical skill and leadership, but especially strong patient care and compassion. Wolcott was nominated for demonstrating the care and concern that exemplifies an outstanding nurse. Through her consolation and

knowledge she helped the family of a CCU patient deal with a devastating prognosis. In her nomination, a member of the family remarked, “I don’t think I could have made it through this day without her care and compassion. Davis is described by her peers and patients as caring, compassionate, helpful, extraordinary, amazing,
professional, and an “angel in a nurse’s uniform. Davis recently cared for a patient in preterm labor who experienced complications. “Holly is an amazing nurse who put me and my feelings before anything else. I felt safe around Holly. I felt comforted and more of a person and less of a patient. You can’t really put that kind of care into words. Huggins enjoys being an ED nurse. He recently was caring for a teen who had been in a serious auto accident. He stayed with her during a critical medical procedure and he continued to check on her even after she moved to a different location in the hospital, and when he was off duty.

Little more than nine months ago Kentwood High School senior Cassidy Meyers stood on the podium at Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome, where she accepted the medal for winning the girls 118-pound wrestling title. Cassidy hopes her final season of wrestling culminates with a trio of Meyers siblings on the podium under the dome as her brothers Dalton, a junior, and Walker, a sophomore, will try to work their way through the boys brackets. “I’d like to make it to state, Walker said. “I’d like to do that with my brother and sister. This would be a dream not just for them, but for their father, Steve, who coaches the Kentwood girls. “It’s nice to have them there, Cassidy said of her brothers. “When I’m running and I look over and see my little brother (Walker) running, I don’t want to let him beat me. There’s that family rivalry. They all get along, of course, but being the oldest of the three still in high school – there are three older sisters, two who played soccer and Jolene, who won a state wrestling crown in 2008 – Cassidy doesn’t want them to get the better of her. And though they look up to her, Cassidy thinks they probably wouldn’t want her to get the better of them. “I’ll wrestle with the guys a little bit at practice, but not my brothers, she said. Dalton values the fact his family spends so much time together in the wrestling practice room at Kentwood. “There’s no rivalry, Dalton said. “Sometimes we

Kentwood High’s Walker, Steve, Dalton and Cassidy Meyers, from left to right, at the Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome last year. Cassidy won the girls 118-pound wrestling title. Steve Meyers coaches the Kentwood girls wrestlers. KRIS HILL Reporter butt heads because we think they can work harder, but, we’re there for support. Grappling has just been a part of life in the Meyers household for as long as Cassidy can remember. Her father wrestled so he signed his sons up. “Jolene asked if she could wrestle and he said no, Cassidy recalled. “I wanted to wrestle. He let me. Then my mom got mad and told him Jolene had to wrestle, too. My mom wanted to make sure it was fair. My brothers were wrestling, so I wanted to wrestle. Steve said he tries to draw a line, though, between the practice room and the dining room. There are a few conversations about wrestling at home, but, he’s Dad there and coach at Kentwood or wherever they’re
on the wrestling mat. Because Cassidy rarely wrestles in the South Puget Sound League North dual meets her brothers compete in, her role in those moments are different: teammate, proud older sister. “I just support them in general, she said. “I can get intense watching a wrestling match, or any sport, actually. I usually yell at them to do something but they can’t hear me. I do support them on and off the mat. They’re easy to support, Cassidy said, though Dalton and Walker are very different people as well as very different wrestlers. “Dalton, he’s a really good wrestler, Cassidy said. “He’s a really technical wrestler. Last year watching him at state, I was so proud

of him. This year I think he’ll get on the podium. Cassidy believes Walker can get to state this year if he fine tunes his technique and focuses on the areas he needs to work on. “Walker is definitely a social butterfly, she said. “He’s more of a flashy wrestler. He’s getting more technical now. He’s going through exact same stages now that I went through at that age. Cassidy remembers a soccer coach telling her a few years ago she needed to develop the mental maturity to match her athletic ability in order to progress in the sport. Steve Meyers recalls her first two years of high school wrestling. Cassidy didn’t need to listen to her coach, he said, because she knew what she was doing.
When she realized her coach had something helpful to say, when Cassidy had that moment of clarity, it was a turning point for her, and she was able to put all that hard work together with her athletic ability to win the state title. When Walker has that moment, Cassidy said, she knows he will turn the corner and do great things on the mat. “The boys have been lucky with Jolene and (Cassidy) coming through, Steve Meyers said. “They’ve seen what that hard work can do. (Dalton) has always been one of the hardest workers. He works his tail off. Walker always had a lot of natural ability and balance. Wrestling came naturally for him. Steve Meyers said he tries not to push them, to pressure them to place in the top eight at Mat Classic in February, but he knows that’s the goal all three of his children have this season. “It’s their decision to do the extra work they need to do to get where they want to be, Steve Meyers said. Walker said he likes having his dad in the practice room and he thinks Cassidy is glad to have him there, as well. “When he’s there, she’s happy, Walker said. And Dalton said he likes having his family members at practice. “It’s a comfort having them in the room, Dalton said. “We can push each

The most important thing is to better others every time you’re in the gym. We have to keep getting better. We have to peak at the state tournament. That’s the best chance of achieving that.” Cassidy, who is an accomplished rugby player who plans to play that sport at the college level next year, said she will miss wrestling. “It’s an addictive sport after a while,” she said. “In a sense I feel like if I don’t

The week before Christmas in the garden
THE GARDENER
T’was the week before Christmas, and all through the yard, not a gift was given, not even a card. The tools were all hung, in the carport with care, with hopes that St. Nicholas soon would repair. The shovel with blade all rusty and cracked, the pitchfork still shiny, but handle it lacked. When out on my lawn, (it’s brown and abused) I could see poor old Santa, looking confused. No list had been left for Santa to see, no gardening gifts were under the tree. But wait there’s still time, it’s not Christmas yet, and gardening gifts are the quickest to get. You can forget the silk tie, the fluffy new sweater, give something to make the garden grow better. If she wants a gift shiny, then don’t be a fool, it’s not a dumb diamond, but a sparkling new tool. If fragrance is listed you can forget French perfume, Marianne Binetti
This year marks the 30th anniversary of writing this weekly column. That’s more than 1,500 columns, most inspired by readers that once mailed in questions but now use email to ask for answers to a multitude of gardening questions. One Christmas, years ago and home with small children, I penned this poem as a tribute to Santa at Christmas. It still remains the most requested reprint of any other column. So thanks to the garden clubs, nurseries and green thumb friends that pass it on year after year, and the newspapers that continue to print a local garden column. As is my tradition, anyone who wants to can reprint this column without my permission or copy write restrictions. You can also go to my website at www.binettigarden.com to download an email or printable version of the gardener’s take on Christmas:
it’s a pile of manure that’ll make gardeners swoon. Give night crawlers, not nightgowns, the type of hose that gives water. (Anything for the kitchen is not worth the bother.) Give a great gift that digs in the dirt, it’s better than any designer-brand shirt. Now look quick at Santa, this guy’s not so dumb, Under his glove, he hides a green thumb. His knees are so dirty, his back how it aches, his boots stomp on slugs, (he gives them no breaks). Santa only works winter, you can surely see why. The rest of the year it’s a gardening high. Elves plant in the spring, pull weeds merrily all summer, in fall they all harvest, but winter’s a bummer. And so Christmas gives Santa a part-time employment, ’Till spring when the blooms are his real life enjoyment. So ask the big guy for garden gifts this year, Seeds, plants and tools, Santa holds them all dear.

LIVING A PURPOSEFUL LIFE It is now widely recognized that people who lead purposeful lives are better able to preserve their brain function. By deriving meaning from life and focusing on the future, seniors can improve cognitive function and avert dementia. From a scientific standpoint, it may be that we create more connections in our brains when we have greater purpose in life. From an anecdotal standpoint, we all know that it is easier to get out of bed and face the day ahead when we are focused on improving our lives and the lives of those around us. With this in mind, seniors are strongly urged to volunteer or even engage in a hobby that gives them a spark. PARKSIDE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY hopes that you found this topic to be both interesting and informative. We encourage our senior residents to participate in our wide variety of activity options. Our calendar of events includes entertainment, celebrations and games that are geared towards our seniors.
