VENDOR SNEAK PEEK

The festival is thrilled to have added additional space for more vendors this year and still managed to sell out of vendor spaces! What kind of vendors do we have, you ask? Covington Days features arts and crafters, educational vendors, non-profits, local businesses, and more! You’ll be able to shop a variety of arts and craft booths with handmade items like paintings, woodworking, tie dye, jewelry, knitted and crocheted items, custom engraving, lotions, ceramics, and more. You can even meet a new pet available for adoption, get a henna tattoo or sign up for parks and recreation classes and sports teams! Be sure to thank Covington Days sponsors by visiting their booths! It is with their support that we can bring you the Covington Days Festival every year! Stop by and say hi to these sponsors who will be onsite with information, giveaways, and more: Red Canoe Credit Union, Valley Medical Center, YMCA of Kent, Republic Services, MultiCare, Kashner Orthodontics, and Costco.

THE PARADE ROUTE features sidewalks along the

whole route. But, snagging a spot to set up a chair or stand and watch the parade near the judge’s stand (by Panda Express) will allow you to see groups perform in front of the judges and then easily walk over to the festival grounds when the parade ends. The festival parade route begins at the Real Life Church Campus at 26201 180th Ave SE. Parade staging begins at 9 a.m. and that means road closures will begin around 9:30 a.m. and will last up until 1 p.m. The parade will enter onto 180th Ave SE and head south toward 272nd/Kent Kangley. It will turn right (or west) onto Kent Kangley and continue west to SE 169th Place SE where it will turn right (or north) and head towards the Kohl’s parking lot. The new parade route is just over one mile long and the judging stand will be located on 272nd/Kent Kangley near Panda Express and Starbucks.

ARE YOU PLAYING UNPLUGGED? Covington elementary-aged kiddos who are participating in the Play Unplugged program this summer can stop by the city’s booth to pick up a free City of Covington pin to spruce up their Play Unplugged lanyards! Just show us your lanyard and your favorite brag badge so far and we will pin your lanyard. The city booth will also have lanyards available for pick-up for new participants. Play Unplugged is all about encouraging kids to put down their electronics so they can get out and play. It all begins with providing the right kind of motivation -- the kind that gets kids playing and active without them even

Enjoy Covington Days! Team Marti

knowing it. This motivation is based on the Play Unplugged Brag Badge. Local businesses sponsor activities that earn Brag Badges like swimming, volunteering, painting, hiking, picnicking, and much more. Kids who complete every activity by the end of summer will not only earn bragging rights, they will also receive a free 3-month Youth Aquatic Membership to the Covington Aquatic Center. The overall goal of the program is to help kids reengage with the real world, help parents plan a fun and exciting summer and give much needed visibility to local businesses. The program is open to elementary-aged kids (roughly 6-12 years old) in the Covington community, including homeschoolers. Beginning June 15, participants can pick up a free Play Unplugged lanyard at Covington City Hall or the Covington Library to start collecting badges. Participants will also be honored at the Fall Festival event on Sept. 21 at noon. Parents can check out the new Play Unplugged Covington Facebook Page at www.facebook. com/playunpluggedcovington to keep up-todate with new sponsors and activities as they are added, special event details and highlights of the program.
