I grew up in Kitsap County and enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest with my husband and two daughters. I love this community and am an active volunteer as well as serve in an advisory capacity, or on the board of several non-profit organizations. I joined First Federal with two decades of banking experience, as they support my passion for building relationships with local businesses and non-profit organizations. As a Commercial Relationship Manager, I am able to provide lending solutions and help businesses finance their dreams.
I was born and raised in Bremerton, and in 2014 I joined First Federal to open the first branch in Silverdale. As Customer Sales and Service Manager, I am dedicated to ensuring the best possible service for our customers. I support multiple non-profit organizations within Central Kitsap area and, in my spare time, I love to go camping and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with my son and husband.

When I was young, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I started my career, and that remained true until I was introduced to the car business at Haselwood ChevroletBuick-GMC (HCBG). My prior work experience consisted of waitressing at several restaurants, until a serendipitous situation put me on HCBG’s doorstep about ten months ago. Since I began working here, the support and encouragement I’ve received from virtually every person in the company has been overwhelming in the best way. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given to learn and grow while helping great people enjoy their car buying experience.

I am lucky to be mentored by a successful, educated, and experienced woman, who owns and runs her own business. Working with another female small business owner in the healthcare field has given me the opportunity to be successful in ways I never thought possible. I would not have realized this success had I tried to go it alone. Creating this partnership has allowed me to see that the sum of the parts really is greater than the whole. When people in small business support each other we can achieve so much more.

Four ways female founders turbocharge their businesses: BRANDPOINT
W
omen are starting businesses at a record pace, motivated to pursue passions, find financial independence and obtain the flexibility that eludes most traditional jobs. In the U.S. alone, women entrepreneurs generate $1.1 million in revenue on average across retail, professional and personal service businesses that have operated for 11 years. This stat comes from Visa’s new State of Female Entrepreneurship report, which informed their recently announced program, “She’s Next, Empowered by Visa,” a global initiative to support and champion women in their efforts to grow their small businesses. That’s powerful stuff, highlighting the important role women entrepreneurs play in

the prosperity and economic development of local communities. The typical entrepreneur is 42 years old and earns nearly $110,000 in household income a year, making a profound difference in building and supporting families in the community. Clearly, female founders are coming into their own. In fact, the Visa study found that 79 percent of American women entrepreneurs feel more empowered now than they did five years ago. Still, key challenges exist: 73 percent say funding does not come easily, and nearly twothirds use their own funds to get started. Assembling a good team, finding the right tools and dealing with competitors are among the biggest challenges keeping women entrepreneurs up at night.
Jenny is a tax and business lawyer, providing a rare combination of tax expertise and business planning skills for clients on Bainbridge Island and elsewhere. In addition to her J.D., she has an LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law and a B.A. in English Literature from Yale University. She came to Bainbridge Island in 2006 with her family after practicing law for 16 years in New York City at several large law firms, including Dewey Ballantine, Brown & Wood and Sidley Austin. Jenny was a member of the cross-border tax practice group of Dorsey & Whitney in Seattle for four years before forming Jenny Coates Law, PLLC with offices on Bainbridge. Jenny occasionally writes on M&A related tax issues for Bloomberg Law. Jenny frequently speaks on tax and other topics. When not practicing law, Jenny sings with the Bainbridge Chorale, the Amabile Choir, and the Bethany Lutheran Church Choir. She loves to write poetry and has poems included in published volumes of writing for the Grief Dialogues Project run by Elizabeth Coplan and several other anthologies. Jenny is a former Board member and current Advisory member for the Bainbridge Chorale and Arts & Humanities Bainbridge and has volunteered as an adoption counselor at PAWS in Lynwood Center. She lives on Bainbridge with her husband Samuel Brodsky, a pianist and piano teacher on the island, a large mastiff named Graham Cracker, a Kitsap humane rescue named Demeter and the family’s three cats. Her child Cymbeline Brody is happily as a freshmen at Carleton Collage in Northfield, Minnesota.
For any entrepreneur, it can feel like there’s never enough time or resources to grow a business. To help other entrepreneurs, and based on insights from the State of Female Entrepreneurship report, Visa polled four areas women entrepreneurs focus on to turbocharge success: Find mentors More than two-thirds said they wanted advice from fellow entrepreneurs. Relatable role models and mentors are invaluable when you’re making the leap to starting or building your own business. Find your feet Strategy development is critical for women Continued on page 7

Real Estate was always a career I had hoped to pursue and in early 2018 I made that dream come true. I was raised in Senegal, W Africa, daughter of immigrants who came here to the USA in 1970, and then decided to make Africa home. Growing up in a third world country allowed me to be exposed to many diverse cultures. I also grew up speaking 5 languages. In 1997, I decided to pack 1 suit case and gave the “American Dream” a try. I landed in WA state and spent 15 years marketing live seafood into Asia. That business taught me a great deal about international business relationships, superior marketing and sales. I also developed grit. When I heard about Sothebys Inter Realty and the global reach they had for us brokers at our fingertips, I was sold. I have now been with Realogics Sothebys Inter Realty for almost 3 months and absolutely love it. I and my husband have 3 children. Our two oldest are pursuing their careers and our youngest is a Freshmen at NKHS. We love this area of the Peninsula and also have a home out west. I have traveled all over the world, but each time I come back to WA I feel so deeply blessed.

Three ways to empower women in your community: BRANDPOINT
F
emale entrepreneurs make up approximately one-third of all entrepreneurs worldwide. It’s always a great time to highlight, support and applaud women in business, in your community and across the globe. Here are a few easy ways you can celebrate and support businesswomen and female entrepreneurs. Shop women-owned businesses Know about a restaurant, shop or serviceoriented business in your area that’s owned and operated by women entrepreneurs? (If you don’t, look through the rest of this publications to find some!). Go out of your way to shop at their location, refer friends and family members to their busi-
nesses, and be sure to let them know that you support their efforts in your community. Give them a boost by posting a positive review of their business on social media. Helping female-owned businesses thrive is a great way to empower women in your own backyard. Mentor women and girls in your industry Find ways to offer female students and younger employees a chance to learn more about educational and employment opportunities in your own field. Contact career counselors at high schools or local colleges and offer to let students shadow you at work, or give them a chance to do an informational interview with you to learn more about your business. Help them get connected within your busi-
ness network and share your experiences. If your employer is willing, develop an internship or on-the-job training program to encourage and empower up-and-coming women in your industry. Support companies actively involved in projects that empower women Mars Wrigley Confectionery U.S. and Dove Chocolate have pledged $1 million to CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, specifically to empower women in West Africa. Dove Chocolate and CARE have partnered to empower women in the cocoa growing communities of Cote d’Ivoire after an assessment of women’s involvement in West African cocoa farms found that women were not benefiting

Run Amok Racing, Inc. began in 2018 under the direction of Ginger Johnson, a longtime South Kitsap native. Throughout her years in running, she has been a Brooks sponsored athlete and has won a number of races from the 5K up to marathons and 12 hour races. Today, Ginger is still running, but chasing after fun on the run! Her race experience over the last 20+ years gives her a unique perspective on what runners want on race day. She estimates that 1,000 runners participate each year in her 4 premiere races: Blake Island Trail Run, the Hippie Half Trail Marathon on Blake Island, and the summer and winter editions of the Yukon Do It! Race. The Blake Island races are unique in that the only way to get to the race is by boat. Run Amok charters Argosy Cruises to provide transportation, and serves a catered lunch with live music at the finish line. “I like to think of our races like a party, with a fun finish line.”
Ginger Johnson Founder
Next up for Run Amok Racing is the 10th anniversary of the Yukon Do It! Race on December 29th, where they expect about 500 racers and their family and friends to flock to the downtown area. This year, new Port Orchard Police Chief Matthew Brown is on deck to be the charity chaser. He’ll start the race last, and for every runner he passes Run Amok will donate $2 to the South Kitsap Helpline. They’re looking for business and individuals to match the donations. Ginger’s goal for Run Amok Racing is to continue to grow her premiere running events with more racers. She wants to to continue having a positive impact on her community and the local economy.

Dr. Jennifer Sansen is celebrating her 25th year of family practice at Kitsap Chiropractic and Natural Health!
A chronic health condition that was not helped by medication was able to improve and then heal under Chiropractic care.
When not taking care of her patients she is often answering the phones, purchasing supplies and doing any task needed for the smooth running of the office. Even though running a business can be very challenging at times, her love for helping families heal naturally keeps her going.
Dr. Sansen’s passion is to empower other humans who either work for her or come in as patients. Helping others see that that ‘whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve’; Not only for a career and life but great health as well.
Early in life her mother instilled a drive to be able to support herself and enjoy what she does for a living. Her Dad always told her to look at challenges from the perspective of what is the worst thing that can happen, then when you look at it that way it’s not so scary anymore. Perseverance and action is the advice she gives to others in her sphere of influence. Dr. Sansen is local and graduated from South Kitsap in 1983. Originally in the Veterinary Medical field, her passion for Chiropractic care came after getting adjusted by Dr. Greg Fox in Gig Harbor.
Better health or even great health can be easier to achieve than you think. Dr. Sansen sees people who often come in thinking that is is “normal” to have pain and sickness as we get older, but the reality is that we were created to replace old sick cells with new healthy cells as long as there is no interference. Chiropractic removes inference from the nervous system so the body is better able to heal itself. Pregnancy in the workplace: be safe, healthy and happy METROCREATIVE
C
ongratulations if you are pregnant! The next several months are certain to include many changes as you prepare for the arrival of your child. Whether you have been pregnant before or are about to become a mom for the first time, each experience is unique. And while dealing with the unexpected is part of being pregnant, pregnant women should expect their employers to treat them fairly as they continue to work. The first thing pregnant working women should know is that they have the right to work while pregnant. In the United States, it has been illegal to discriminate against pregnant women in the workplace since 1978, when the Pregnancy Discrimination Act was passed. In spite of the law, some employers may be less receptive to their female employees’ pregnancies, with some insisting they harbor good intentions, such as the woman’s safety. Businesses cannot fire employees for being pregnant, and many courts have ruled that decisions about the safety of the woman and fetus are up to the employee and her doctor, not her boss. On that same note, a company cannot refuse to hire a person simply because she’s pregnant. While pregnancy is a natural occurrence and one female bodies can accommodate, in some instances, work requirements may threaten the safety or the health of the fetus. Therefore, employers are under a duty to accommodate female workers who may need to modify their responsibilities due to their pregnancies. This can be a collaborative discussion, with both the employer and employee coming to a solution that works best for them. It is the employer’s responsibility to accommodate pregnant employees by removing barriers that may limit those employees’ ability to do their jobs. Each instance should be looked at individually. Under the Family and Medical Leave Act, women in the United States are entitled to 12 weeks maternity leave.
Women can choose to use a portion of that maternity leave even before their children are born if physical limitations are making it challenging for them to continue working. Women should put their health and the safety of their unborn children ahead of their responsibilities at work. In addition, women should not hesitate to speak with their employers about their comfort levels while pregnant. If an issue arises, speak with your boss, who deserves the benefit of the doubt. In some instances, breastfeeding also is protected by law at job sites or at the office. It is best for women to familiarize them-
selves with breastfeeding policies ahead of time so they can make the proper accommodations. Pregnant women should discuss with their doctors which work activities are permissible and which should be avoided at particular times in the pregnancy. Every effort should be made to avoid toxic substances, and pregnant women should not lift heavy items or engage in any potentially risky physical activity. Heather Larrin is the CEO of Paramount Property Management Group, Paramount Property Maintenance Group, Paramount Real Estate Investments, and Paramount Professional Services, in Port Orchard. Heather’s professional goal is to make life easier for those she serves. “Turning your home over to someone else to care for can be terrifying. We try to make it as easy as possible.” She does that by making homeowners and renters feel more comfortable and confident. With a growing list of properties, Paramount had a need for consistent, reliable maintenance and handyman service, so they developed an in-house licensed and bonded maintenance division, providing easy, timely repairs. On a bigger level, they developed their own construction division, followed by Paramount Property Investments, and Paramount Professional Services. They also started U.S. Landscaping to provide professional landscaping to beautify the properties around Kitsap, Pierce and Mason Counties. Heather began her real estate career in 2004 at Windermere Real Estate, as an assistant for Dana Soyat. Dana taught her the ins and outs of real estate, and continues to be an important mentor to this day. She then went on to assist other top realtors, including Barry Jones and James Bergstrom. James kept her on as an employee through the worst real estate recession of his career. In the late 2000’s, the real estate market experienced a drastic slow down. Many homeowners felt trapped, unable to sell their homes. James had a vision of starting a property management company and wanted Heather to play a major role. In 2011, Paramount Property Management Group was started to help those desperate families facing foreclosure by offering a solution to rent their homes, turning a negative liability back into a performing asset. Today they manage more than 300 properties in Kitsap County, Mason County, Pierce County, and a few in the greater Seattle area.

Their close bond drives them to not only do better for their community, but for each other. A quality not found anywhere else. Heather believes that community is vital. Our friends, parents, siblings, and kids all live here. We have a duty to do what we can for our community. Paramount really pulled together after the tornado tore through Port Orchard last December. Heather and her team were out picking up debris and helping the neighbors that were affected. Even though it was windy, pouring down rain, and just days before Christmas, the team felt blessed and honored to be out making a difference in their community. Individually and as a team, they’re working together to support multiple charitable causes, including Rescue Freedom, World Vision, Soldiers Angels, Team R.W.B., youth summer camps, Christmas for Kids programs and various cancer fundraisers. Additionally, Paramount offers a yearly scholarship to a student from South Kitsap High School. On a daily basis Heather marches on, putting her energy and passion toward making life easier for others, beginning with her family and staff, encompassing all of her valued homeowners, renters and vendors. She does her best to make things better than how she found them and she encourages everyone to embrace their neighbors and community.

Tips on how to improve time management skills: METROCREATIVE
O
urs is a busy society where everyone is moving from place to place quite rapidly, whether at school, home or work. As a result, many people may feel that there simply are not enough hours in the day to get it all done. Quite often people delay certain tasks until the late hours of the night as a way to catch up. But that can be detrimental to health. The National Institute of Health warns that lack of adequate sleep can affect mood, adversely affect relationships, increase anxiety and possibly contribute to depression. Inadequate sleep is also associated with increased risk of high blood pressure, obesity and heart disease.

Rather than tapping into precious hours of shut-eye, men and women can learn how to manage their time better so they complete more tasks during the day, leaving more time to relax and sleep at night. Effective time management begins with these strategies. Determine priorities Begin by setting priorities. This involves making a list of all the tasks that need to be completed, and then putting them in order of most essential to least essential. Once you understand where to first devote your attention, address items on the list in order of their priority. Develop goals Goals do not have to be far-off ideas for the
My goal as a financial representative is to protect families by making sure they have the proper coverages that meet their lifestyles. I have worked in the insurance industry for 15 years, and I am more relationship driven than transactional. I love my job because of the relationships that develop with my clients, who quickly become personal friends. I enjoy taking my time to get to know each client because every family is unique. I want to help you own your future, and the best way to do that is to get to know you – your needs and your goals. I’m not a believer in cookie cutter coverages. My team provides a broad range of services, and I can help you plan for retirement, save for higher education, and set up the proper insurance for your home and vehicles. In addition, we can match you with the best health insurance for your individual needs. I’m a lifelong resident of Kitsap County, and I’m happy to be raising my family here with my husband, Martin, who works at the shipyard. When I’m not busy at work you can find me shuttling my kids to karate practice and competitions.

future; they can be easily reached today. Simple goals such as, “I want to remove all nonessential paperwork from my desk” can be tackled quickly and without much effort. Goals give a person something to work toward and are important ways to steer you in the right direction. Without goals, you may wander aimlessly. Accomplishing goals of all shapes and sizes gives a feeling of accomplishment. Avoid distractions Distractions can pull attention away from important tasks at hand. They can be phone calls, text alerts, personal issues, people in the room and many other things. priorities. Stop multitasking Unfortunately, multitasking is not the key to getting more things done. In fact, it could actually be hurting performance. Research conducted at Stanford University discovered that multitasking is less productive than doing a single thing at a time. You simply cannot put full effort into multiple things at once — and something will be short-changed if you try. Write things down Keeping information floating around your mind is ineffective and can lead to stress. Put things down on paper or make digital notes to keep track of what needs to get done. Set your targets and break each task down to manageable pieces. Physically cross items off your list as they are completed. Time management is a skill that can be learned with practice and focusing on elements of success.

Rebecca Raney graduated Cum Laude from the University of Washington with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts and Minor in Architecture. After purchasing commercial land she designed and built the location where she now operates her business. YES Please! Coffee was born after a life altering circumstance presented Rebecca with a new reality. Her husband lost 85% of his eyesight to a genetic disorder and Rebecca was forced to become the primary provider. The only choice she had was to say YES. YES PLEASE became her approach to everything in her world, when no THANK YOU was the acceptable stance. It has become her strength. Rebecca has always lead by example. Saying YES, to her staff from the beginning, a hands off management style never fit our program. Saying YES is a trickle down leadership approach. In 15 years her turn over rate has been remarkably low with most baristas staying 5 years or more and some well over a decade. Rebecca is proud to see staff say YES to work, YES to the environment she has created and most importantly YES to the Port Orchard community. “I believe loyalty is our greatest currency. For 15 years we have remained loyal to our local community, our local vendors and every customer who walks through our door.” Rebecca says. “I am very grateful to Port Orchard for being loyal to YES Please! How young women can land the right internship METROCREATIVE
I
nternships provide great opportunities for young women to get their professional feet wet. While classroom lessons provide theoretical senses of what a profession might be like, an internship gives an actual sense, shedding light on how a particular business or industry operates. In its Class of 2015 Student Survey, the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that women (65.8 percent) were slightly more likely to have had an internship than men (64.6 percent). Competition for internships can be steep, and young women who want to set themselves apart from the field can employ various strategies as they search for internships. Learn the recruiting schedule.
Some professions may recruit interns yearround, while others may only look for interns during particular times of the year. Speak with your academic advisor or someone in your college or university’s career placement department to determine when opportunities in your field are most likely to be available, and make sure your materials (i.e., résumé and portfolio) are ready when that recruiting season begins. Don’t limit yourself. Cast a wide net when searching for an internship. If you want to be an investment banker, landing an internship that allows you to work alongside investment bankers may be ideal. However, limiting yourself to only those opportunities may be prohibitive, and you may end up with nothing. Maintain an open mind when pursuing internships. Even if you don’t land your dream internship, another opportunity

may provide lots of hands-on experience while also allowing you to get your foot in the door. Tell the truth. Embellishing your résumé might help you get an interview, but chances are the interviewer will learn pretty quickly if your purported skills are authentic. Internship programs are designed for students with little or no experience who might one day turn into valued employees. If a company suspects an internship candidate of embellishing her skills and experience now, that candidate might never get her foot back in the door. Tell the truth and express your excitement at any opportunity that allows you to apply classroom lessons in real world settings. Don’t accept just any internship.

Strategies to create a better work-life balance METROCREATIVE
P
arents with responsibilities at work and at home commonly struggle to find balance between these two often conflicting sets of obligations. Surveys have indicated that working professionals who work less are more likely to be happy with their work-life balance than those who burn the midnight oil at work, but for many adults, working less is not always an option. A 2012 report from New Zealand’s Ministry of Social Development found that the percentage of working professionals who were very satisfied or satisfied with their work-life balance declined as their hours worked increased. Canada’s General Social Survey discovered similar results, noting that, while the majority of working parents were satisfied with their

work-life balance, those who were not most frequently cited their dissatisfaction at not having enough time for family life as the main culprit behind their discontent. Creating a better work-life balance is an ongoing commitment, and even working parents who employ the following strategies may find they need to periodically tweak their routines so they can fulfill their obligations at home and at the office. Schedule family time. Since working professionals unhappy with their work-life balance often cite lack of family time as the reason for that dissatisfaction, finding time for family may be the key to changing that outlook. Schedule time for family just as you schedule the rest of your daily commitments. Listing family dinners or activities in

Some working parents may feel as though technology has made it harder than ever to leave work at the office. But while smartphones, tablets and other devices may mean you’re never too far away from work, technology also can be used to create more time with loved ones. Employ an app such as FaceTime to eat lunch with your spouse or chat with your children each day. Such interactions may not be as enjoyable as face-to-face interactions, but building them into your day can help you stay in touch with family and provide a welcome respite from busy workdays. 5 Great Ways to Relieve Stress STATEPOINT
S
tress is a daily part of life but, left unchecked, can be bad for the body, mind and soul. Here are five great ways to reduce tension, relieve stress and feel better. Practice Yoga Yoga is a powerful stress reliever as it combines the benefits of stretching, meditation, controlled breathing and exercise all in one package. It’s as simple as unfurling your yoga mat when stress runs high. While studios are easy to find these days, there are plenty of free videos you can find on YouTube when you need to destress on your own schedule and at home. Play music Music can reduce stress, particularly when you are the one playing it. But first you need the right gear. Consider this: these days, you don’t need a grand-sized home to get the grand piano experience. The slim design of digital pianos, such as the PX-S1000, makes it possible to get the feel and sound of a grand piano in a compact design. And integrated Bluetooth audio lets you connect your device wirelessly to this particular model, so you can also kick back and relax and listen to your favorite music through its powerful stereo amplification system. Laugh Laughter reduces physical and mental tension. So when you’re feeling stressed, spend time with friends who make you laugh, turn
on your favorite tv show or see some stand-up comedy. Even just smiling can trick you into feeling happier, so if the real laughter isn’t forthcoming, consider the old adage — fake it ‘til you make it. Take a hike Spending time in nature can reduce stress, ease anxiety and boost feelings of happiness according to the American Heart Association. What’s more, the exercise you get on a hike or other outdoor adventure will boost endorphins, working to trigger positive feelings. Just be sure you take along tools to help you navigate the trail and avoid bad weather. High-tech wearables, such as the Casio Pro Trek PRG650Y-1 watch, will keep both hands free for ease on the trail. Designed for comfort and durability, this watch features Triple Senor technology that tracks bearing, altitude/barometric pressure and temperature. Tackle your to-do list Is the source of your stress a growing to-do list? Pick an item, any item and tackle it today. You’ll feel so much better afterward. There is nothing more satisfying than crossing an item off your to-do list. If it helps, start with the easiest item first. The sense of accomplishment will motivate you to keep going. Whether it’s playing music or going on a nature walk, reducing stress will help you feel happier and boost your sense of wellbeing.

Use your vacation days. A recent study from Project: Time Off, a national movement aimed at highlighting the important role that time off from work can play in the lives of professionals, 55 percent of Americans did not use their full allotment of vacation days in 2015. That translated to 658 million unused vacation days, 222 million of which could not be carried over into 2016. Professionals who want to create a better work-life balance can examine their vacation day usage and resolve to use them all if they are not already. Parents can use vacation days on national holidays when schools are closed so they can squeeze in family time even when they are not going on trips. Parents who put their minds to it can create a more fulfilling work-life balance.

5 Signs it’s Time to Ask for a Raise STATEPOINT
F
or U.S. workers, living expenses continue to generally outpace pay increases, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In fact, a recent study by Randstad US and Apartment Guide found that 44 percent of employed Americans say their annual residential expenses (rent, mortgage, utilities, household maintenance, etc.) increase more than their salary does each year — and 37 percent of house, room and apartment renters claim the cost of their home is too high when compared to their income. This has resulted in long commutes, as well as a need to supplement expenses by taking on side gigs and seeking out roommates. “The general rule of thumb is to spend less than 30 percent of your gross income on rent.
Depending on your income level, this might not be possible in some desirable urban neighborhoods without making other lifestyle sacrifices. Be realistic in your housing selection and your salary will go much further,” said Emily Williams, senior data analyst for Apartment Guide. On the other hand, if all this sounds familiar, it may be time to ask for a raise. Based on the research, here are five clear signs that it could be time to ask for a raise: 1. You can’t afford a home with your current income. Twenty-six percent of workers currently rent, but plan to purchase a home when they get a raise at work. 2. You have a long commute to save on living costs. Twenty-four percent say they live far from their jobs because they can’t afford to live
nearby. 3. You have more than one job. Twenty-eight percent say they have more than one job to supplement their living expenses. 4. You have multiple roommates. Twenty-one percent say they need more than one roommate to afford their current rent or mortgage. 5. You’re willing to relocate for a better opportunity. Fifty-six percent say they would move out of state for a better job opportunity. Of course, needing a raise and deserving a raise are two very different things. In fact, the experts at Randstad US don’t actually recommend that you use any of these points to make the case for a raise with your boss. Instead, focus on your achievements and the value you bring to your company. Continued on page 29

Here are a few tips to help you get a fair rate based on your level of experience: Quantify your value. Think of “value” not only in terms of tasks completed or sales made but also things like effective management, team building and timeliness. Know your worth.
