HOMELESS OUTREACH CENTER The site, 330 E. Olympic Boulevard, is a two-story masonry building in LA’s Fashion District at the entrance to Santee Alley. The building currently houses multiple vendors/stalls but will be vacated to make way for a mixed-use development on the site. Due to structural concerns, certain portions of the second floor framing have been removed and no new openings (beyond what is already existing) can be made in the masonry facade. The Outreach Center will be the only occupant for one year after which time the building will be demolished.
BICYCLE COMMUTER CENTER Following the success of the Santa Monica Bike Center, the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) in conjunction with Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and Bike and Park (BC) is planning a Bicycle Center at 700 Wilshire Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles. The center is comprised of two components- a bicycle rental station geared towards tourists and a bicycle commuter comfort station geared towards those who commute to DTLA by bike. The center hopes to promote both bicycle commuting as an environmentally friendly alternative to driving and the burgeoning cultural life of DTLA.
HOMELESS OUTREACH CENTER IN A CHAOTIC ENVIRONMENT, INTRODUCING A REGULATIVE SPACE ACCOMMODATES DIFFERENT PROGRAMS’ NEED FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE. THE UNIFORMITY OF INTERIOR ROOMS IS CREATED BY A PATTERN OF CURVATURE RHYTHM. IT ALSO REFLECTIVELY INTEGRATES THE DESIGN SCHEME. A
