CROWD COMPASS APP

r

This year’s mobile app for the Conference is going to be awesome! Here are just a few benefits and reasons why you don’t want to miss out on the app: Access the event schedule and customize your agenda with personal appointments. PLEASE NOTE—Changing your classes in the app does not change your registration. You MUST change any class registrations online through Cvent or onsite with the Registration Desk. • See all the speakers, read their bios, and view their handouts* • Check out the exhibitors and locate their booths easily through our interactive map • Use a Bally’s Property Map to help you find everything you need at the Conference • Play “the Game” – win prizes – just by using the app! • Play “Click” – win prizes – A photo scavenger hunt designed to get you to network and socialize! • Get important updates through the app through Push Notifications 8 2017 APP CONFERENCE

• See who’s attending and share contact information by networking with other attendees Our app will go live 30 days before the Conference. Please take a moment to review this information in advance of its release and know that it’s here for reference. We will also have a help desk onsite at the beginning of the week in Las Vegas! *you must be logged in to access; only Registered Attendees can log in to the app.

TIPS:

Registered Attendees will be sent an invite – by logging in through your invite it gives you access to your schedule, class handouts, and other content not available to non-registered users. All Attendees must “opt-in” to be shown on the Attendee list in the app.Do this if you want to network (send messages / set appointments) with other Attendees through the app. By turning on Notifications – you will receive important push notifications at Conference. Are you an international attendee with no data usage in the US without wifi? Be

t

sure to download the app and respond to your invitation while you still have a connection. If you attended last year – update your version of the directory! Most of the app is usable without a data connection. Consider downloading your class handouts prior to departure.[Push notifications and Handout download cannot be done without a data/wifi connection].

i

u

Export your schedule to your calendar on your device so you can set reminders / alarms. Remember changes to your schedule in the app DO NOT change your registration—that MUST be done through the Registration Desk (or cvent in advance of Conference). Tap any “locator pin” for more information!

2017 APP CONFERENCE 9

CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE

The APP’s Conference is an industry specific continuing education conference designed for professional piercers. While the APP allows non-industry attendees to attend classes, the Conference is not designed for them. Appropriate reasons to attend classes as a non-industry person are: • Work in an adjunct field (Suspension, Health Inspector, etc.) • Taking a specific class for other professions/education, not offered elsewhere (Anthropology, BBP) • Preparing for a professional apprenticeship Unless you are taking classes or you are a guest (spouse, child/parent, significant other) of a professional piercer, we ask that you respect that our Conference is not open to the general public. Our social events are open only to Attendees/Vendors and their guests. Non Industry Attendees will not be able to register for classes until after June 11th. This is to give priority seating to professional piercers and others who work in our industry. Health Inspectors are exceptions to this rule.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

• Minors (those under the age of 18) are not allowed to attend our Conference as Attendees due to the adult nature of our course content. • Individuals 18-20 may attend the Conference without a parent/guardian but are not allowed in the gambling areas. They must share a room with someone at least 21 years of age and the room must be registered to that person per hotel policy: “Each guestroom must have at least one registered guest twenty-one (21) years of age or older.” —Bally’s website. • It is illegal to drink or gamble if you are under 21 in Las Vegas. If attendees from the Conference do so and are caught, the APP’s contract with Bally’s can be affected.

CONFERENCE RULES AND REGULATIONS

The APP requests that you read & acknowledge the following: • As an attendee of the APP Conference, you are a representative of the Industry to the general public, the hotel staff, and all other Conference attendees. This representation necessitates that you conduct yourself in a courteous, professional manner while attending the Conference. • Your behavior while at the Conference, in the host hotel, in other hotels, and while in Las Vegas during the time of the Conference reflects on the APP and the Industry as a whole. Participating in illegal or disruptive activities (use of drugs/excessive drinking), damaging property, etc. can all create a potential problem for you, the APP and the Body Piercing community. • Posted signs and verbal instructions from APP representatives pertain to ALL attendees and vendors as we have ALL of the participants’ best interests in mind. Volunteers are giving their time so that everyone can have a successful conference – please be cordial to them when they are enforcing Conference rules and regulations. • The Exposition Hall has specific hours and we ask for your assistance in making

10 2017 APP CONFERENCE

sure the Hall opens and closes on time by paying attention to announcements and finishing up your purchases/sales in a timely manner. • Inappropriate language, sexist, racist or otherwise rude or offensive comments have no place at a professional event. Unwanted advances and/or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. All attendees should be allowed to feel safe and comfortable at our event. • The APP takes safety and security at this event seriously. If you have knowledge of any activity that could potentially be a danger to the public and/or any individual at Conference, you should bring these concerns to the attention of an APP Board Member immediately. • Despite our best efforts, theft is a potential reality at an event and venue of this size; please keep an eye on your personal belongings and assist your fellow attendees in doing the same. • Activities that are illegal in the “real world” are illegal at Bally’s and at the Conference—this includes underage drinking, drug use, underage gambling, drinking while driving, physical abuse, theft, etc. • Absolutely no piercing, scarification, branding or implants, or any other form of body modification from hotel rooms at the host hotel or at the Conference will be tolerated. Any APP members participating in these types of activities risk losing their membership. Any member or non-member risks expulsion from the hotel and/ or Conference. This type of behavior contradicts everything the APP represents and promotes in its educational outreach and mission. • ANY food and beverage not contracted by Bally’s but brought into the hotel to serve a group or at a Conference event or function violates our Contract with the host hotel and can result in a substantial fine to the APP. No food or beverage are allowed on the Expo Floor, in Classrooms or other events that is not for personal use. No food or beverage of any kind is allowed to be brought into the opening party or the banquet dinner. • Smoking is not allowed in any of Bally’s Convention areas, Hallways, Lobbies, Restaurants, or other indoor common areas. This includes the Banquet hall and surrounding area. Smokers will need to return to the casino floor in order to smoke. Smoking is allowed ONLY in the Casino area and designated outdoor areas. This is the law in Las Vegas. Both the APP and individual can be fined for smoking in nonsmoking areas. Please comply. • All product and jewelry materials, in particular natural or wildlife, must have been legally mined, harvested, imported, obtained and/or fashioned. • Booth-holding vendors are welcome to offer private product showings from their hotel rooms, however, no vending from hotel rooms will be tolerated. Booth holders are not allowed to bring new stock onto the vending floor once the floor is set. Stock in small quantities can be removed and returned each day for security reasons with the permission of the APP. • These are regulations (and sometimes laws) that must be followed at the Conference. • Failure to comply can result in arrest, eviction from the Hotel and/or Conference, and/or penalty or fines applied to the individual and or the APP. • The APP Board Members & Conference organizers thank you! 2017 APP CONFERENCE 11

CONFERENCE HARASSMENT POLICY

It is the policy of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) that all conference volunteers and attendees are responsible for ensuring that the conference is free from sexual harassment. Because the APP strongly forbids inappropriate sexual behavior at conference, all attendees and volunteers must avoid any action or conduct which could be viewed as sexual harassment. Sexual harassment includes: Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexually harassing nature, when: 1. submission to the harassment is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of any conference benefit or privilege; 2. submission to or rejection of the harassment is used as the basis for any decision affecting the individual; or 3. the harassment has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment. Any volunteer or attendee who has a complaint of sexual harassment during conference by anyone, including Officers, Board Members, instructors, committee members, vendors, attendees, volunteers, or other APP associates should immediately bring the matter to the attention of an APP Officer or Board Member. In the event of any bodily threat or injury, immediately call 911 and notify hotel security. When an APP representative or conference attendee knows of an incident of sexual harassment, they shall immediately notify a Board Member or Officer and take appropriate remedial action. If the alleged harassment involves any types of threats of physical harm to the victim, the alleged harasser may be suspended from their duties during an immediate investigation conducted by the APP. The investigation may comprise members of the Oversight Committee, Conference Committee, Officers, Board of Directors, hotel security and/or law enforcement. If the investigation supports accusations of sexual harassment, disciplinary action against the alleged harasser may take place that could include immediate, temporary, or permanent termination of current and/or future duties and conference privileges. In accordance with our standing policy, when you believe that you are witnessing harassment, or violence while attending one of our events, please immediately notify a board member or officer. If you feel that you or someone else is in immediate danger please notify hotel security and call 911. If for any reason you or someone you know is uncomfortable communicating your needs with the Board of Directors, we have in place an oversight committee that operates outside the purview of the Board of Directors and Officers. The Oversight Committee is comprised of Bethrah Szumski, Elayne Angel, Allen Falkner, and Derek Lowe. They can also be reached by email at oversight@safepiercing.org

CLASS TIERS

APP Classes are set on a system of basic/advanced. For those individuals who are not piercers, or who are apprentice piercers who cannot provide adequate documentation, 12 2017 APP CONFERENCE

advanced piercing classes will not be available. The APP is committed to providing challenging and interesting curriculum for all the attendees of the Conference.

PIERCING TECHNIQUE COURSES

For entry into Piercing Technique courses (advanced courses)—proof that you are a professional piercer is required. Two forms of proof will need to be uploaded during online registration or if registering onsite, presented to registration staff in order to get access: Dated Article, Pay Stubs, Tax Certificates, Business License, Body Art Licenses, web URL, Business Card, Letter of Reference are all acceptable forms. For Piercers with less than a year of experience seeking advanced level classes a letter of reference from attending mentor can be submitted..

EXPO ACCESS

Admittance to the Expo is restricted to those affiliated with the industry as it is a trade show floor. These restrictions protect our vendors, who are selling to retailers at wholesale prices. Proof of industry affiliation is required. Our Exposition is not open to the general public. The APP reserves the right to restrict access to the Expo for Attendees who fail to provide us with the proper proof of industry affiliation. Two forms of proof will need to be uploaded during online registration or if registering onsite, presented to registration staff in order to gain access: Pay Stubs, Tax Certificates, Business License, Body Art Licenses, web URL, Business Card, Letter of Reference are all acceptable forms. For retailers who are not piercers you will need to show a retail/resale license as one of your forms of proof in order to be granted access.

SEAT AVAILABILITY/CLASS CLOSURES

All classes have a seat limit and therefore all attendees, including Full Conference Pass holders will need to sign up for all their classes prior to attendance. Full Conference Attendees will be allowed to be put on a wait list which allow them access to a class which is full, but has available seats due to registered attendees not showing up to attend. Waitlisted attendees will be taken into the class in order of the list.

MEMBERS ONLY

These classes (2) are limited to APP Business Members and Business Members at Large. Apprentice Piercers who are Associate Members who have been accepted to attend advanced courses are also allowed to attend these Members Only classes. Nonmembers are not allowed to attend these classes.

WORKSHOPS

ALL Attendees (Full Conference Pass and Partial) now have access to Workshops. However, piercers will need to supply appropriate documentation to access the technique workshops. Attendees can take 1 session of each of the classes offered in the workshop format, HOWEVER, space is limited and we encourage everyone to sign up early as they will fill. Each session of each class is the same material although different instructors may lead each session. Each Workshop may be taught differently from another class offered in this format.

2017 APP CONFERENCE 13

BODY WORK

To maintain space in our host hotel and comply with insurance requirements, absolutely no piercing, scarification, branding or implants; or any other form of body modification from hotel rooms (in any hotel) will be tolerated. Any APP members participating in these types of activities risk losing their membership. Any member or non-member risks expulsion from the hotel and/or Conference. This type of behavior contradicts everything the APP represents and promotes in its educational outreach and mission. We ask that body modifiers who are working out of local shops make it clear that their work is not part of the Conference or associated in any way with the APP.

GOING TO CLASS & GETTING CREDIT WHEN YOU DO

ALL ATTENDEES MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE FOR ANY CLASS, Round Table, or WORKSHOP. All Classes, Round Tables, and Workshops have a seat limit and will close once filled. • Make sure you have your badge! They are required to attend anything at Conference. • Attendees going to workshop classes must have signed up for the session they want to attend. Make sure if you are attending a workshop session – you are attending the correct session. Due to class size limits you can only attend the session which you signed up for. Any changes will need to be done at Registration. • Full Conference Attendees desiring a class which is full will be put on a waitlist. This allows you into the class session if there are seats which are not filled due to registered attendees not showing up for the class. The wait-listed attendee needs to go to the class, and wait until the volunteer at the door lets them know if they have a seat. Waitlisted Attendees are accepted in waitlisted order (only available to Full Conference attendees/Registrant Type dependent). • If all registered attendees, and waitlisted attendees have been seated and there are still seats left, Full Conference pass holders not on the waitlist can be seated in the class by the volunteer. • At the door of each class the volunteer will scan your badge. This information will be used to give you credit for the class. If you don’t get scanned, you won’t get credit! • If you are not registered for the class, the scanner will alert the volunteer. • Attendees entering from the Waitlist will be added to the registration record via the scanner/volunteer. This is also how any of our special guests (vendors, partners, etc.) can be added to the registration record. • The scanner will also keep track of when the class is full and no other attendees are allowed in the door. • If you are late to class, you may lose your spot or you may be too late to get credit. • Volunteers will allow no-show pass holders in the door after the bulk of attendees have been loaded into the classroom. Don’t be late! • You cannot miss more than 15 minutes of a class and still get credit for it. Don’t be late, leave or take too long on a break or you may not get credit for the class. • No public/attendee video or audio recordings are permitted during any of the APP offerings (class, workshop, round table, APPTalk, etc). Public/attendee non-flash photography is permitted for non-commercial use with instructor consent. These photos may be posted to social media. 14 2017 APP CONFERENCE

• Remember to be respectful of the instructors/facilitators; and other attendees at all times. We ask attendees to refrain from talking loudly during class or creating any disturbances. • There’s a time and a place for drinking and partying – in the classroom is not the place. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages to class. • Please use the microphone provided to ask any questions – everyone is here to learn, they need to hear the question too. • Please understand our volunteers are doing their jobs – you might not agree with the rules, but please be nice to our volunteers. If you have a concern or complaint, please take it up with a manager. • Please utilize the app based survey for each class – your feedback is important to the development of our Conference. Thank you for attending and following these guidelines; we hope you enjoy your experience!

WHAT’S NEW & EXCITING FOR 2017

This year, in order to make it as easy as possible for our attendees to be identified at the pool party it will be mandatory that attendees wear the wristbands provided in their registration package. All registered attendees will receive these wrist bands in their registration packages on site in Las Vegas. As of this year, in our effort to save as many trees as possible, there will be no paper reviews of our classes or instructors. You will find everything you need in our app! Make sure you download it to send in your digital reviews. This year, we are very excited to offer only a single option to attend the exposition as a partial Conference attendee. To maximize your shopping we will offer only a four day pass to the exposition. Use this extra time to enjoy all of the great things our vendors have to offer. We will once again return to only offering Waitlist spots to our full conference attendees ONCE ONSITE. Partial conference attendees may only be waitlisted during preregistration online. In order to be admitted to a class or workshop, you must either be a registered attendee or registered for the waitlist. No new registrations will be allowed at the door.

APP MEMBERSHIP

Want to join the APP? Not sure how? Do you have questions about the process or if your studio will pass the criteria? Attendees are encouraged to either attend the roundtable discussion on Monday from 6:00-7:00 pm or visit with the Membership Committee members at any time, identified by their ribbons!

APP PHOTOGRAPHER

This year at Conference we are happy to have a dedicated portrait photographer available on both Wednesday and Thursday near the registration booth. Portrait time slots will now be available for purchase for $20.00. You can purchase your time slot at the merchandise booth and schedule your time with the portrait photographer at the portrait booth. This time slot will allow you time for multiple shots, and you are free to bring a friend and do quick group shots. This fee will guarantee you 1 or more professionally shot and edited photo(s) for private use. 2017 APP CONFERENCE 15

For those of you who wish to use your photo for business purposes, you may purchase the rights to your photo to use however you wish for an additional $30.00. (Total of $50.00) We understand that this is a change from years past, but we are excited to offer attendees a smoother portrait experience and an inexpensive way to obtain a professional quality headshot for their business needs. The APP would like to welcome back Autumn Swisher. Autumn Rose Swisher is a freelance photographer in San Francisco California. Her clients include jewelry designers from New York to Seattle even as far as Mexico City. Swisher received a BFA in Photography from PNCA in 2007, Interned at the 20x24 Polaroid studio in NY in 2006, attended a semester at the New York Studio Program through Parsons and teaches film Photography part time at the Youth Art Exchange in San Francisco. Autumn has shot photos for Maya Jewelry for the past ten years and now shoots for Quetzalli and Buddha Jewelry as well. Her own work involves documenting the body piercing community with film and a medium format camera. Autumn has been the head photographer for the Association for Professional Piercers for the past 4 years and 3 years for the Latin American Body Piercing Association. This year we are also happy to welcome a second photographer to our Conference. Shanna Hutchins is a freelance photographer and retoucher working out of Brooklyn, NY. Her love of music and obsessive nature to acquire everything related to her favorite bands expanded her visual world and ultimately her love of photography. Discovering the work of Anton Corbjin in the early 90’s, who photographed some of her favorite bands, she was inspired to purchase her first 35mm Canon SLR. After moving to the Pacific Northwest from the Midwest she made the decision to return to school and earned her BFA in Photography from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2007. During this time she was able to expand her knowledge and love of analog b&w photography processes while studying in Prague and interning at the 20x24 Polaroid studio in NYC. Shanna continues to use film in her work but has now also embraced the world of color digital photography.

WE ARE HERE TO HELP!

The conference Mentor program is designed to reach out to new conference attendees, and help them get the most out of their trip. We understand that spending a week in Vegas with hundreds of industry professionals can be overwhelming, so we have assembled a team of conference veterans that are here specifically to help you along the way. For pre-registrants, we will send out info prior to conference to help give you a heads up about what to expect, and give you time to ask any questions you can think of. We will also be present at the onsite registration area the first day of conference, as well as the new attendee orientation. We are happy to help you go over your schedule and pick your classes. It is always nice to have some extra input, since you won’t be able to take every class in a single year. These mentors would also be happy to give any advice needed on how to meet new people and make professional contacts throughout Conference. Don’t hesitate to ask for advice on everything from keeping in your travel budget, to who to talk to if you want to discuss class topics more after hours. The Mentor team will be wearing badges all week long, so you can stop us anytime if you need help or just need a familiar face for reassurance.

MEET & READ THE GREATS! JIM WARD—was called “the granddaddy of the modern piercing movement” by MTV in a 2004 documentary entitled The Social History of Piercing. He is considered by many to be the person most responsible for creating, not just the movement, but the modern body piercing industry as well. In 1975, with the inspiration of his friend and mentor Doug Malloy, Jim opened Gauntlet, the first studio in the world dedicated solely to this form of body modification. He is responsible for developing and/or perfecting many of the tools, techniques, and jewelry designs that became the industry standard. From these, the industry continues to evolve. In 1977, with the input of Doug and Fakir Musafar, Jim conceived and published Piercing Fans International Quarterly (PFIQ), the first and highly influential publication dedicated to body piercing. In 2011, Jim published his book, Running the Gauntlet—an Intimate History of the Modern Body Piercing Movement. Now retired, Jim lives in Berkeley, California with his husband Drew and their dog Sparky. WEBSITE: http://www.runningthegauntlet-book.com, http://gauntletenterprises.com/ 16 2017 APP CONFERENCE

THE BANQUET DINNER THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 8PM–MIDNIGHT HOTEL PARIS CONCORDE A/B

Join us Thursday night at the Banquet for an evening of friends and laughter to wrap up our weeks events.

LET’S GET JIGGY WITH IT!!

Let’s face it, the 90s had some of the best music (yes we know this is subjective). Those of us growing up in the 90’s were educated by Lauryn Hill; Tupac told us to keep our head up and Biggie Smalls reminded us why the ladies called him “Big Poppa.” Nirvana captured 90s angst like no one else, while No Doubt made us all wish we were skaters. Then there were our pop princesses, Brittany, Christina, Mandy and Jessica. Last but certainly not least the boy bands made hearts worldwide beat faster. All that frosted blond deliciousness. No matter what genre – rock, rap, pop, punk, – the music was just AWESOME! So join us Thursday night as we dust off our Docs, plaid, high-waisted ripped jeans, bike shorts (yeah the spandex kind), windbreakers, bandannas, and broken in combat boots. Search your closet for the best 90s clothes and make a style statement as we shake our rumps to best music of the nineties this banquet is sure to make all want to party like it was 1999!! Purchase your tickets when registering as it is sure to sell out! Banquet tickets are also available at the Registration Desk throughout the week; and at the door the night of the event (if not already sold out).

BODY PIERCING ARCHIVE 2017 EXHIBITION!

A CHARLES GATEWOOD RETROSPECTIVE

For 2017, the APP and the Body Piercing Archive present a retrospective exhibition celebrating the life and work of Charles Gatewood “photographer of the strange,” videographer, and “anthropologist of American counter-culture.” Prior to Charles’ passing, he donated to the Body Piercing Archive and the APP over 200 videos from the 1980s into the early 1990s, including mixed format master tapes and the remaining VHS copies of his entire mail order catalog, as well as personal interviews. This footage includes piercing legends such as Jim Ward, Sailor Sid, Mr. Sebastian, Hans of Denmark, Fakir Musafar, and Annie Sprinkle as well as hundreds of the early pierced community. This is the most comprehensive and important video archive of his work in existence. Please visit the Body Piercing Archive in Bronze 4. ARCHIVE HOURS:

BODY PIERCING ARCHIVE EXHIBIT This year the Body Piercing Archive’s exhibition will focus on the career of Charles Gatewood. Spanning more than 50 years this anthropologist and gonzo journalist documented the American underground scene. He began working for Rolling Stone magazine photographing some of the greatest legends of the sixties and seventies, including Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Rod Stewart and dozens more. His early photographic essay of Wall Street captured in black and white the dark underbelly of American capitalism decades before Hollywood depictions or the Occupy Movement. Gatewood frequented New York City’s legendary CBGBs capturing early punk performances such as Helen Wheels and the Dead Boys. Charles chronicled his exploration of circus sideshow performers and New Orleans’ Mardi Gras in his 1975 breakthrough book Sidetripping, co-authored by the Beat legend William Burroughs. Gatewood’s photographic passions pushed audiences from their emotional comfort while gaining him recognition, multiple book deals, and gallery exhibitions. Perhaps more than anyone he has richly recorded historical piercing figures from the 1980s into the 2000s. He was instrumental in Piercing community’s cult classics the book Modern Primitives and the film Dances Sacred and Profane. The APP and the Body Piercing Archive are the proud recipients of the Charles Gatewood Video Archive which includes hundreds of tapes and hours of recorded interviews including legends such as Jim Ward, Fakir Musafar, Jack Yount, Mr Sebastian, Sailor Sid, Annie Sprinkle, Elayne Angel and dozens of piercers and enthusiasts. This is a unique treasure that we are currently working to digitize for future generations and for viewing at the 2017 exhibition!

JEWELRY OVER THE YEARS! Want to know what a captive bead ring cost in 1990? Do you wonder what the hype is when older piercers reminisce about obscure manufacturing companies or hard-toimagine jewelry designs? Perhaps you fondly remember the triumphs and failures of these companies- then take a trip down a body jewelry memory lane! The Body Piercing Archive is proud to present a collection of classic body jewelry, merchandise, catalogs, and related materials from current and now-defunct companies. For this first jewelry exhibit, we have limited the scope of materials to steel and titanium. Over the past year, the archive has requested loans from private collectors and the original manufacturers. This collection includes the evolution and variation of familiar items as well as discontinued styles and unique prototypes, some that have never been seen by the public! While this is by no means a complete collection, we hope that this exhibit will prove to be an excellent starting point. Thank you to everyone who took the time and made the leap of trust to contribute! Please visit our Display at booth #79 on the exposition floor. 2017 APP CONFERENCE 43

DESCRIPTION

This is the largest gathering of piercing related vendors in the world. Manufacturers often utilize this event to present their newest products or services to the piercing community. This is the venue in which you, as a piercer, can meet your vendors and manufacturers face-to-face, seeing their products up close before buying. A vendor’s presence at the Expo does not constitute APP endorsement. Our Exposition is an open trade show; not a juried show. The APP encourages all Attendees to shop responsibly. What is the APP doing about vendors selling products/jewelry which don’t meet APP guidelines/standards? The APP has encountered this question every year since our first Exposition. Overwhelmingly, the majority of our attendees and vendors prefer the open floor policy of the Expo. While the APP encourages vendors to attend who meet or exceed our suggested jewelry standards for initial piercings, the APP does not screen the vendors’ product lines. (The APP maintains only suggestions, rather than standards, for jewelry worn in healed piercings.) Many of the merchants offer products suited to initial piercings on the Expo floor and some also offer jewelry that is intended only for healed piercings. Please review all products thoughtfully and remember that, in many cases, the Conference and Expo are a learning experience for the vendors as well.

POLICY FOR ENTRY

For entry into the Exposition, proof of industry affiliation is required. Our Exposition is a trade show floor – and is not open to the general public. The APP reserves the right to restrict access to the Expo for Attendees who fail to provide us with the proper proof of industry affiliation. Piercers, Apprentices, or Studio employees: Proof of industry affiliation (at least two forms) will need to be uploaded during online registration—or presented to the registration staff if registering in Vegas—in order to gain access: Pay Stubs, Tax Certificates, Business License, Body Art Licenses, web URLs, Business Card, or Letter of Reference are all acceptable forms. Non-Piercer Retailers will need to supply a retail/resale license. 44 2017 APP CONFERENCE
