Whereas, the meetings of the Executive Cabinet of the United Student Government contain discussion and decisions affecting the United Student Government as well as the student body of Point Park University; Whereas, the meetings of the Executive Cabinet are official United Student Government meetings which are open according to by-law 106.3 unless information discussed within those meetings would violate federal or state laws or the rights of an individual pursuant to by-law 106.31; Whereas, the meetings of Executive Cabinet may contain private information which would require minutes to be redacted according to by-law 106.31; and Whereas, the United Student Government Rules Committee has recommended a change to reflect the organization accurately; therefore be it Resolved, that the United Student Government of Point Park University shall revise Bylaw 106.31 that reads, “Any USG meeting can be closed with the written consent of a USG advisor if the public disclosure of information at that meeting would violate federal or state laws or the rights of a particular person.”; and further Resolved, that the United Student Government of Point Park University shall add Bylaw 106.32 that reads, “Only that information which must be closed from public concern as defined in this section may be withheld; other matters in a meeting must be open to the public.”.

Whereas, the documents of the Executive Cabinet of the United Student Government contain discussion and decisions affecting the United Student Government as well as the student body of Point Park University; Whereas, according to bylaw 104.4, “All USG documentation, including but not limited to documents of operation, resolutions, voting records, finance reports, minutes, and agendas, shall be considered matters of public concern.”; Whereas, the meetings of Executive Cabinet may contain private information which would require minutes to be redacted according to by-law 106.31; and Whereas, the United Student Government Rules Committee has recommended a change to reflect the organization accurately; therefore be it Resolved, that the United Student Government of Point Park University shall add Bylaw 106.41 that reads, “Any official USG document can be withheld or redacted with the written consent of a USG advisor if the public disclosure contained information that would violate federal or state laws or the rights of a particular person.”; and further Resolved, that the United Student Government of Point Park University shall add Bylaw 106.42 that reads, “Only that information which must be closed from public concern as defined in this section may be withheld; other matters in official documents must be open to the public.”; and further Resolved, that the United Student Government of Point Park University shall add Bylaw 106.5 that reads, “All signed and written agreements from an Advisor for reasons mentioned previously shall be attached to the meeting minutes or official documents to which it pertains.”.
