Tourism Board St Barth
Dear readers,
We are excited to welcome you to our beloved St Barts!.
We pride ourselves in cultivating uniqueness, art de vivre and attention to details.
When I was younger and especially during the celebrations in the summer, the island would hold different sailing tournaments of « Voile traditionelle ». The traditional racing boats are a long lasting regional tradition that we cherish here in St Barts.
I remember the entire island gathering to welcome the winners at the finish line and how everyone would in happiness congratulate the team of young men who had spent the day at sea. Singing and praising them. It was a great moment of conviviality and sharing that portrays exactly what St Barts is all about.
Nowadays, one event which highlights the best this tradition is the West Indies Regatta that takes place in April. We are happy that the island hosts this event to commemorate our heritage.
Another event, although different, rings loud in our touristic season: The Bucket Regatta.
Held in March, it attracts exclusive and faitful guests sailing on the most beautiful racing yachts. The Bucket Regatta marks the peak of the high season, almost as much at New Years eve.
All those events make our "art de vivre", that allows St Barts to be a unique and unforgetable destination.

NATHAN COE
This winter Space Gallery St Barth – the place of reference for art on island – presents photographer Nathan Coe, adding him as a new edition to its program and photography offering. The talented photographer first started to make a name for himself following a major exhibition of his Double Exposure series in New York City in 2014. This propelled Coe into the world of fine art photography and cemented his status as one of the leading artists in his field. Coe’s
appreciation for the technical side of photography began from a young age, leading him to pursue an honors degree in Photography & Media in Gloucestershire, England. From there he soon moved to Nantucket where he became the Creative Director & Editor for N Magazine and fell in love with photographing the way the light illuminated the serene waves, regal lighthouses, and awe-inspiring dunes around the island.
Islands are magical places that not surprisingly have long captivated Nathan's creativity and St Barth is iconic, beautiful and inspiring all at the same time. “From the moment I first visited the island of Saint Barthelemy, I was completely captivated. Naturally beautiful, seductive, mysterious… St Barth embodies all of the elements I look for when choosing a location to shoot.” - NC.
The list of its universal appeal goes on and on. So, how to capture that essence through a camera? Coe trusted his process and trusted the island and the mystery and serendipity of St Barth played into his hand, giving him permission to capture her grace and he responded with his practiced sleight of lens. The result is this series of images that the gallery launches this fall.
Recognized for his evocative, cinematic beach landscapes, Coe is also known for introducing blithe, human protagonists. The nude female figure—often shown with her back to the camera, as if blissfully unaware of the artist’s presence—representing the innate human connection to nature.
With this new series, Coe hopes to have captured the island’s timeless wonder. The images communicate his classical style of weaving in the enduring beauty of the female form into various mise en scène. With a stunning attention to light and shadows, angles and lines, and compositional perspective, these works leave the viewer wanting more.
The exhibition opens November 18th through early December and the artist’s portfolio and work can be viewed at the gallery through the season. Discover this beautiful latest addition to the gallery’s roster and bathe in the light from Nathan’s lens!.

PAINTING PARADISE
St Barth based Charles Moreau is a humble yet very gifted artist whose work you may certainly have seen exhibited at the Wall House Museum or at Space Gallery, as a mainstay of their program since 2019.
Born in France in 1980 Charles hails from a family with a long tradition of interest in the arts ; a museum curator mother and an art dealer father perhaps shaped his destiny along with his talent. After starting to paint at 14, he first studied architecture before switching to
art history at the Sorbonne, before discovering and falling in love with tribal arts which took him to NY and into art dealing before finally settling on the island in 2014.
This move to the Caribbean reawakened the artist within and thus begun Charles’ focus and his current practice of representing plants, animals and more generally his daily environment.
It is very easy to forget that St Barth for thousand of years was a very inhospitable territory, and that it is thanks to the will of gener-
ations of amateur botanists, planters, settlers, etc that it was made permanently liveable. This movement started with the first precolumbian inhabitants and continues to this day.
Oceanic, African, European and Asian plants today are so acclimated that we do not notice them and take them for granted but it is good sometimes to remember where they come from and how privileged we are.
Charles’ representation of nature cannot go unnoticed - in order to pay homage to the plants he paints, Charles always represents them in lifesize, keeping their scale intact to give a coherent appreciation of their respective attributes. In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of the generations of naturalists who, during the time of discovery endeavored to record the exotic species of the world’s every corner. In these paintings, each plant is named by its latin dénomination in order to make it more easy to identify, and give it its international ‘ID’ – no doubt a wink to the pioneers of early science, when latin was the international language of knowledge.
Even if he has used a wide variety of techniques, Charles favors painting with oil on canvas, usually on a neutral acrylic background which enables him to focus the attention of the viewer on the subject itself. A lot like the botanical illustrations he would find in the encyclopedia he used to devour as a child.
Most recently, he has turned to painting on a monochromatic colored background and a certain Japanese aesthetic in his new series of plant paintings. His delicate rendering of the intertwined branches, blossoms and leaves, create beautiful canvases. His use of color and appreciation for the beauty of the world around us is infectious. His paintings are an ode to nature. A poetic love letter which having read it, we all fall under its spell.
Contact Space Gallery for details on Charles Moreau’s work and available pieces.

Renowned for its dedication to unique and bespoke design, JJR Jewelry specializes in the world’s finest natural color diamonds and rare gemstones, crafting future heirlooms that embody modernity and timeless elegance.
At the core of the brand's identity lies the scarab—a symbol of manifestation, growth, good fortune, and playfulness—reflecting the spirit of creation that guides every piece. Rosse continuously redefines high jewelry, constructing one-of-a-kind designs that highlight the exceptional character of each stone. His creations blend architectural elements and geometric shapes with a novel approach, mixing precious metals and gems in innovative, trend-setting ways. Drawing inspiration from diverse cultural and historical sources, including turn-of-the-century Viennese art, furniture, and architecture, the bold lines of Art Deco, the organic beauty of gardening and arboriculture, and the philosophies of great thinkers, Rosse infuses each piece with symbolism and meaning. JJR’s fine jewelry embodies a unique and well-defined aesthetic, one that is stunningly beautiful and rich in narrative and history.
1.- How do you see the fancy color diamond industry evolving, especially with changing consumer tastes and technological advancements?
The fancy color diamond industry is at an interesting moment. Today’s luxury clientele, especially younger generations, are shifting away from traditional standards and gravitating toward pieces that offer individuality, story, and scarcity.
This shift has amplified the demand for fancy color diamonds, as these rare gems embody uniqueness that cannot be easily replicated. As consumers continue to prioritize distinctive beauty and provenance, I believe we’ll see even more demand for ultrarare diamonds as brands refine their digital engagement to meet these evolving preferences.
2.- What qualities do you believe make fancy color diamonds a timeless investment in today’s luxury market?
Fancy color diamonds possess qualities that few other luxury items can match: natural rarity, rich color, and emotional resonance. Their timelessness is in part due to their scarcity—the formation conditions that produce fancy color diamonds are incredibly rare, making each stone uniquely precious. Beyond their inherent beauty, they have a historical significance that adds to their allure; throughout history, fancy color diamonds have been associated with royalty and status.
Today, as more people appreciate these gems' finite supply and irreplaceable beauty, their desirability and value in the luxury market continue to grow, making them a stable, long-term investment.
3.- How do you balance artistry and investment value in your jewelry pieces, and what should buyers look for when investing in a high-end, fancy color diamond?
Balancing artistry and investment value requires a dedication to both design and precision, ensuring each piece is not only visually engaging but also retains intrinsic worth. We achieve this by focusing on creating future heirlooms, employing only the rarest gems, and pairing them with meticulous craftsmanship.
For buyers, I advise looking for one main quality: the rarity of the stone’s color. A truly valuable piece combines rarity and artistry, allowing both its beauty and value to appreciate over time.
4.- With sustainability gaining traction in the luxury sector, how do you see it shaping the future of the fancy color diamond industry?
Sustainability is reshaping the luxury industry, but it’s essential to approach the concept thoughtfully, especially within the diamond sector. While lab-grown diamonds are often marketed as eco-friendly alternatives, they have significant environmental drawbacks, particularly due to the high energy demands of their production processes. Moreover, lab-grown diamonds lack intrinsic value over time; they don’t hold or appreciate in value like natural diamonds, making them a poor choice for those seeking investment-worthy pieces. Natural fancy color diamonds, on the other hand, offer a sustainable appeal rooted in their rarity and heritage.
Responsible sourcing and ethical mining practices in the natural diamond industry continue to improve, ensuring that consumers can choose high-value, environmentally conscious options without sacrificing beauty or long-term value. As consumers become more discerning, I believe we’ll see a growing preference for natural diamonds that marry sustainability with enduring worth, making them a more aligned choice for conscientious luxury buyers and investors alike.
5.- What role do you think fancy diamonds will play in the portfolios of modern luxury investors, and why might now be the perfect time to invest in them?
Fancy color diamonds are increasingly seen as stable, tangible assets that bring both resilience and prestige to an investment portfolio. Unlike many traditional investments that rely on fluctuating markets, these diamonds derive their value from rarity and aesthetic beauty, qualities that tend to appreciate over time regardless of economic trends. With a finite supply and growing demand from global luxury buyers, now is a particularly advantageous time to consider them. These diamonds not only hold potential for financial return but also allow investors the pleasure of owning a piece of natural artistry that’s both timeless and tangible. In an era dominated by digital assets and transient trends, fancy color diamonds represent an enduring form of wealth that aligns with a sophisticated, lasting approach to luxury investment.
