The White Building once housed part of a factory and was once a printing press, it went through a refurbishment process from the project of David Kohn Architects. Today after the refurbishment process there are in the building a flexible event space, a residency studio that becomes a space for temporary exhibitions, studios for creative practitioners and a bar and pizzeria.
Circus/ Work
The project The propose of the project is create a place for a character of circus to work and training in the white building . The character is a unicyclist.
The unicycle Historians point to the existence of the first unicycle around 1800s, the first had a greater wheel in front and a small rear wheel. For a long time unicycles were only used by artists and acrobats. The unicycle pedals are connected directly to the shaft that moves the wheel, not using neither gears or chains but the tall unicycle use chains. To mount the unicycle is necessary skills to drive bikes and balance. From the 20th century the use of unicycle expanded because of this the unicycle manufacturing industry started to produce different types of unicycles requiring different skills. Today the use of this equipment is considered a sport, but many people use only for recreational purposes.
Circus/ Work
This pictures represent some of the tricks that the unicyclist can do to train in the space proposed inside the white building.

Elements of inspiration: Battens Within the white building a special element was chosen as inspiration for creating the conceptual model, looking at this element you can imagine it like a boundary in which the unicyclist could interact and train tricks.
First sketches done to help with the creation of the conceptual model.
At the first moment the conceptual model was thought to be a way with the floor, ceiling and walls covered by battens, the obstacles, with some holes for the people in the bar can see what is going in on this way. Here the concept of passing through a way reappear.
The Conceptual Model To the physical model the concept of pass through a way thought in the first drawing remained, however the slats used in the model conception had various heights and widths. One of the walls and the ceiling drawn at first sketch were removed to improve visualization of the interior of the way. the holes were made on the ground, representing another kind of challenge fo the unicyclist.

From the conceptual model was developed a project into the White Building, in which the unicyclist can train through a way. In this way there are two access ramps, that make the way to expand from the area of the river up to the parking lot, giving complete freedom of choice and movement for the unicyclist. The unicyclist can also access the area of training through the conventional inputs of the bar or through the first floor through the existing library that is on this floor. Depending on the training/presentations schedule of unicyclist, he can interact with people who attend or are employees of the bar and the people who frequent the library. What makes the intervention inside space even more interesting. In the project to the interior of the White Building the existing texture in the typology of conceptual model has been maintained and expanded, increasing the space utilization of the unicyclist, since he needs more space and various surfaces to make different types of tricks.

What makes it even more favorable the expansion of incentive to reading and promotes interaction between poor sight and no poor sight.
This project will attend adult poor sight and no poor sight who want improve the readability, encouraging the pleasure in reading. To do this will be necessary project the following rooms: -- Classroom to teach braille to poor sight and no poor sight, who also want to learn braille -- Room where everyone together (poor sight and no poor sight) can discuss about books and other read stuff, with some tutor to command the discussion. People can read to the other parts of the books too. -- Room to promote literary soiree, to associate the act of read with music. -- Small space to print some book wrote by some students, because when the reading is encouraged, the writing also starts to be encouraged. -- Administration office -- Toilet -- Cafe -- Cleaning material deposit

Labyrinth In a The shape labyrinth you get of the finger lost and do not know print is similar to what is coming, what is the labyrinth’s the next challenge. Then shape. you need to sharpen the other senses, because you do not see beyond. One of these senses is touch!
Conceptual Model
First model, made seeking to deconstruct the shape of a labyrinth
Second model, made seeking to approach the shape of the labyrinth
Reading Center Finally the last model was made from a draw of a labyrinth, the draw was placed under a foam board, with pins th meetings and the end of the lines were marked. The draw was taken from the board and were, stay only with the pins. The image of the pins on the board reminded the braille.
Then strips of foam were passed by the pins, creating a curved shape, this curved shaped was desired to be developed in the project.
