Petite Reign The Style Notebook Edition 1 by Pavlina Novakova

I
t often amazes me how a person’s style gets formed. Memories, major events that happened in one’s life, aspirations and dreams all blended together to eventually shape the statement we want to make through the way we dress. And we’re not talking simply about vanity, but about the way a person’s character shows in their clothes. If I judge based on myself, getting dressed is such a special ritual. In a way I see it as helping myself fulfil the purpose I am put on this earth for. I see it as a special right I have to be different, special and authentic. For example, there is nothing like a feminine dress during a hot summer day to make me feel gracious and strong. Not aggressive strong, but a strength with an element of feminine
vulnerability. The kind of vulnerability that can conquer the world with its truthfulness and power. They say character is something you are born with, and something that hopefully during the years you improve. But if dressing is such a good way to express yourself, doesn’t that make it the perfect tool for selfimprovement? With this booklet I would like to talk about my perception of style. Inevitably, it will also be a reflection of my character, thoughts and ideas. A reflection of how I perceive life at this stage, what make me tick and what drives me to improve myself. I hope that other women will find themselves as well because the best things in life are meant to be shared.

Whenever I look for new pieces to add to my closet, I always want to have something that has an original element, something that cannot be seen in mass-produced garments. You know, clothing should signify something that is relatable for us, something we connect with. Take this dress for example, it very much looks like a traditional Bulgarian dress with its embroidery, little tassels and overall structure. Because it’s a summer dress, the material looks like linen (but is softer than that). To emphasize the rustic look & feel, I paired it with these Mango earrings which also have mini tassels and perfectly match the more bohemian appearance.

There is something about off-shoulder dresses that really make a woman look more feminine. Maybe the fact that they underline this unexpectedly sexy part of the body, or maybe because they make it easy to add different pieces of jewellery which add an extra dash of shine? Whatever it is, these dresses are a must in a summer wardrobe. But what is it that I like to use as a surprise element? A beautiful fan. Both practical for the hot days, and also a beautiful accessory that can be overlooked. Take the one in the photo for example. The hand-painted flowers make it a show stopper that will draw attention to any woman that hides her mysterious beauty behind it.

A great print that makes your dress stand out? Yes, please! Whenever I wear bright tones, I love pairing them with accessories in earthy, basic tones. In this case I went for my beloved brown mini shoulder bag. Despite being so little, it manages to fit all the basics a girl should have with her at all times. I definitely love this tropical print- perfect to make an impression and look beautiful at all times.

When planning outfits, I really like mixing different textures. For example, here I am wearing a knitted cardigan, velvet top and a leather skirt. A combination like that really underlines the different elements of an outfit and makes everything look more put together. Instead of the classic black & white combination, I love mixing black & beige. The contrast is not too drastic but yet catchy and classy.
