Initial idea - pattern on top of a texture with hand lettered annotations communicating a rustic composition.
Idea: arranging the elements in a circular shape, like they’re in a soup bowl.
Difficulty with layout composition. Do the photos even combine well?
Ingredients more within the shape communicates soup more clearly.
A mix of these compositions could be interesting.
I’m concerned about the visibility of certain colours on these boards
Textured backgrounds aim to blend the illustrations into the page.
Some of the ingredients just won’t work on a wood chopping board due to low contrast in colours.
For the zine application, it makes sense to visualise the utensils too. It also makes the pages more decorative and fun!
Less clutter + boldness = clean & fresh looking!
The cover needs further development (author name, maybe) to fill the top white space especially.
Development of Onion Soup page
Development of Tomato soup page. The other feature pages are paired, however the onion soup and tomato pages are unique. This mixes up the zine, keeping it engaging.
