2021 Teddy Roosevelt
Teddy Roosevelt winners, Bar Spur
Over 20 – 21 November, the Central Texas Polo Association and Texas Military Polo Club hosted the 2021 Teddy Roosevelt at Two Wishes Ranch Polo Club. The tournament requires one member of each team to have a military connection and this year even saw the umpire, Ronnie Hayes, with a military connection having served in the U.S. Navy. After the results of two round-robins, The Teddy Roosevelt Final was played between San Antonio and Bar Spur. San Antonio began the match with a half goal handicap advantage, but were unable to add to their score in the first chukka; both teams exchanged goals throughout, with the fourth chukka noticeably competitive. Going into the final two minutes, San Antonio led by half a goal, but Bar Spur’s Mark Osburn broke away and scored the winning goal, 5-4½. Bar Spur’s Timao Hudspeth was named Most Valuable Player and the Best Playing Pony was awarded to Little Man, played and owned by Joaquin Arguello.
