Dear Polo Times At last, the beautiful sight of dancing daffodils amid an array of other springtime perennials to bring a few welcome rays of light after what seems an eternity of no outside visitors to sit on my back and the drabness that has been the yard for months on end. As I look outwards towards the new Summer season, ( for me that means here at Ranelagh Farm ) I hope that I quickly shed the last of my Winter coat, before I’m put through four glorious chukkas. I, like my human friends, hope that I never have to spend as much time not playing, ever again! So, patrons, players, patron players, grooms, Polo managers and fans, raise a glass of British Polo Gin, (other tipples are available I hear ) to a new and hopefully best ever Summer Polo season 2021. Quick Question

Q: HRH The Prince of Wales has supported Guards Polo Club’s new 22 goal tournament – Prince of Wales’s Championship Cup. HRH The Prince of Wales played a lot of polo during his younger years, what handicap did he hold? For a bonus point in which year did HRH The Prince of Wales represent Young England vs Young America?

With restrictions easing the outlook for polo’s summer season looks bright. If only the same could be said for the British weather, which, as usual is doing its best to scupper plans with the old ‘four seasons in one day’ routine!
