Following a successful international polo career, which included reaching 5 goals in Argentina and being part of the multiple overseas trips such as being part of the HPA England team visit to Pakistan in 2016, Mikey Howe is now a 3 goal professional, who is now based in Gloucestershire out of Longdole Polo Club

What is your all-time best polo memory?

Best memory, well it’s a bad one, missing my tenth 5B on Ambersham 2 of the season, I got nine 5Bs that season and I missed the tenth one by about a foot, so a bad memory but an amusing one.

Who were/are your favourite team mates? My favourite team mates right now are Tom Beim, Ollie Jones and Will Lucas.

Which sports do you like outside of polo?

Snooker, I would’ve pursued a career in snooker if I hadn’t played polo. I also love squash and motor car racing.

Favourite song/album? I like Jimi Hendrix and Purple Haze was my favourite one. Favourite food/dish? Right now, it is proper homemade dauphinoise with roast beef

Favourite hobby outside of polo? I just play pool these days, I used to play in a pool league in Berkshire. I also love cooking.

Most prized possession? It’s a keyring that somebody gave me who died.

Favourite celebrity and why? I like Michael Owen, when he played for Liverpool he was a very selfless player.

Best holiday destination & activity? That’s got to be polo in Pakistan! That was the best hosted trip I’ve ever had.

Are you passionately superstitious? Yes, very! I’m a great believer in Karma, good and bad it gets you.

One thing which would surprise us about

you? I’m left-handed, right footed and left eye dominant, which puts me in six per cent of the population apparently. I shoot left-handed, I play snooker left-handed, I play tennis and golf right-handed, but I play ping pong left-handed! With my left foot I’m horrendous but with my right foot I’m quite good, I also chop with my right hand when I’m cooking – a bit all over the place.

Best pony and why? At the moment, it is a mare called Yellow, because she is the best and because I made her!
