DURING ITS INITIAL AGE, TO BE IN LINE WITH THE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE INDUSTRY AND VISION TO MOVE FORWARD AND BE KNOWN INTERNATIONALLY, THE INITIAL FOUNDER FOUNDED POLYGON AS THE BRAND NAME. Team Polygon Australia is Australia’s leading Men & Women’s NRS Cycling Team. Team Polygon Australia will again maintain the team structure as a ‘Not For Profit” organisation, fully audited & administered by international accounting firm Deloitte. The management structure will continue to include some of Australia’s most influential cycling personalities including former World Champion & Olympic Silver Medallist, Matt Gilmore, former Pro Tour rider Gene Bates who continues as head Sports Director, local business owner & CEO, Nigel Baker as well as chartered account Chris Bishop of international 15 accounting firm Deloitte, along with the support and backing of the Tasmanian Institute of Sport. Along with an excellent support network of assistant coaches, masseuses, mechanics & soigneurs, the team now boasts one of the best operational structures of any Australian domestic cycling team.
Mission Statement Team Polygon Australia’s undertaking is to provide a professional structure with the support of its partners to enable a successful pathway for all of its athletes, both men & women, into Australian National Teams as well as higher level professional teams. With this structure Team Polygon Australia aims to be a force in both the men & women’s National Road Series in 2013 as well as strive to place its athletes into Australian Team’s at every given opportunity.
KENYAN RIDERS Inspired by the success of Kenyan long distance runners, the cycling team was founded in Iten, Kenya – the small town that produces the majority of the world’s marathon runners. The logic for this was that if these endurance runners from Iten could win major competitions, they could be trained to win a professional cycling competition. Our Kenyan Riders have the heart, lungs and legs of marathoners. We want to be the best climbers in the world…on a bike, and drug-free.

The team will start the season with a strong team of 5 riders competing internationally throughout the world. Orange Monkey Pro Team race the Cozmic RX29 3.0 29er Mountain Bike and compete as a UCI world team for the third year in succession, concentrating on the UCI World Cup Series, as well as selected European events & the British and South African National races. The team will finish the season in Malaysia at the Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge 2013.
