Glasgow – the city known for its rich and varied history dates back to as long as two thousand years ago, around the 1900 Glasgow was adorned as the European city of Cultures. Today Glasgow is a treasure of museums and art galleries and city’s finest concert halls and international conference centres and Science centres . The city houses many yet undiscovered artist who everyday thrive to find a platform to nurture, showcase their artistic abilities. A common platform to artists of all genre, easy accessibility is the need of the hour , which gives rise to idea of Square for performance of art music and theatre

Oldenburg emphasises again the importance of the character of the third spaces and how it leads to various human interactions based on the neutral ground ,as a leveller where “Conversation is the main activity". He quotes “ Third places conversations is typically engrossing. Consciousness of times and condition slips away amid its lively flow”. (Oldenburg, 1999,p 30)

SITE PLAN
The concept proposal for this site consists of adding a desired route from the site towards the water and across the Portland street suspension bridge to connect to Carlton. This desire route is a very important pedestrian axis that connects the northern to the southern city centre across the Clyde. The performance Space along the river, situated at the termination of one of the important axis also allows it to become a part of the skyline and be one of landmark building.

AN INVESTIGATION OF HOW PRE-MODERN TOWN MORPHOLOGY AND BUILDING TYPOLOGIES CAN INFORM A CONTEMPORARY EXTENSION TO AN EXISTING STREET.

PROPOSED EXTENSION
South Queensferry was an important crossing point of the Firth of Forth on the northward journey from Edinburgh. The Forth Rail Bridge (1890) bypassed, but still dominates views from the town as do the modern Road Bridge (1964), soon to be joined by a second vehicular bridge. Sitting below this important national road & rail network is the coastal town pattern originating in the 14th century with its rich variety of urban terraces, characterful street walls, building ages and intriguingly located ‘freestanding’ buildings, making up the High Street – the focus of our investigation.

“The very first condition to be sought in planning a hospital is that it should be fit for its purpose, and the first law is that fitness is the foundation of beauty�- Florence nightingale
Hospitals are the most complex building types. Each hospital is comprised of a wide range of services and functional units. These include diagnostics and treatment functions such as clinical laboratories, imaging, emergency rooms and surgery; Hospitality functions, such as foodservice and housekeeping; And the fundamental inpatient care or bed related function. The functional needs within the hospital can have competing needs and priorities. Idealized scenarios and strongly-held individual preferences must be balanced against mandatory requirements, actual functional needs (internal traffic and relationships to other departments). A teaching hospital is an operating hospital where medical students and recently graduated doctors complete their training .These are often associated with a university and hence also known as university hospital.
The basic form of a hospital is ideally based on its functions: Bed related inpatient functions Outpatient related functions Diagnostic and treatment functions Administrative functions Service functions (food, supply) Research and teaching functions Physical relationships between these departments determine the configuration of the hospital.

The campus has separate parking space for cars and two wheeler other than the parking space available along the building which is restricted only to the doctors. The separate parking space in front of the cancer centre has a capacity of 70 cars and about 50 two-wheeler. While in front of the Nethralaya has space for 30 cars and 3 vans used by the nursing college. There is no separate parking space in the basement since the basement in healthcare buildings are used for services. Outside the campus there is ample parking space along the service road.
Most of the parking in the campus is along the sides of the road that runs along the campus.
