01 ARCHITECTURE BETWEEN CONTRADICTION OF CONTEXTS Khaosan Rd, Bangkok, Thailand

Khaosan school is a bachelor degree architectural thesis in the topic of Architecture between Contradiction of Contexts. “How can the contexts those are paradoxical be together via architecture?” is the researcher’s beginning question. After a number of researches, The final program turned out to be an elementary school which Located in a famous entertainment district of Bangkok, “Khaosan Road”. The project focuses on the conflict between type of users and type of architectural programs.

Beginning with meaning of the words “contradiction“ and “context“, I’ve done a lot of researches to understand and find possibility to put it together in the project.

Surveying to find existing contradiction in the area, Khaosan district had been selected as the site of this project. Researcher had found that there is a school located on Khaosan road named “Pimarnwit School“, Then I studied about information of this school and relationship between it and Khaosan road. After that I decided to redesign and move it to another location nearby. Tourists are included as a user of the project.

Besides designing interaction level of users, Ramp is used as the main circulation of tourists so that they could walk along to the restaurant (main tourist attraction) and also interact with the student in areas those are set. Sections

MYSIERY HIDEOUT RESORT & SPA Nonthaburi, Thailand

Mysiery Resort and Spa is a design project located by Chaophraya river in Nonthaburi, Thailand with a concept of being a hideout place located in suburbMysiery is a holistic resort which consists of hotel, villas, spa, restaurant, clubhouse, retail shops, common area and completed facilities. This project is designed by a group of 10 students which I took main responsibilities of all type of villa design and overall presentation.

The project is designed by concept of being a hidden and exposed place to its surrounding. Being the open-air function, the frontmost building acts as a thin buffer between outside and inside, The ground level also decreases towards Chaophraya river to hide itself allowing users to see and not to see inside until they walking through.

The perspective shows the modern tropical style of the building as it is designed to be related with the contexts and to let the users experiece the local living style.

KITAKYUSHU GUESTHOUSE Kitakyushu, Japan

Kitakyushu guesthouse is an experimental design project during the internship at Atelier Jigsaw company in Osaka, Japan. Advised by Mr. Hajime Kishi, The guesthouse is designed by 3 main ideas which are functions adding, axists defining and relationship between manmade and nature.

Reinforced concrete which is used as main material of the buildings represents man-made while courtyard and pocket garden represents nature. The openings direction of the building help creating relationship between them.

PLATFORM FOR ASIAN URBANISM AND ARCHITECTURE Taichung, Taiwan

Plaform for Asian urbanism and architecture (4th PAAU) is a 7-days international architectural workshop hosted by Tunghai University, Taiwan. The workshop participants are including professors and students from the university in Taiwan, Thailand, India and Indonesia. Dividing into 3 groups of 10 students and 2 professors. The groups are assigned to do different issues under the main topic of “Taichung Foodscape“.

“Bubble Milk Tea“ is the issues given to group 3. To rehabilitate the city by comparing to the reinvention of Taiwan traditional tea in the past into Bubble milk tea nowadays.

After surveying the district, we had found a number of abandoned building especially on the upper floors. So we came up with the idea of activating them by placing some activities and connecting them together by bridges. We had selected various size of building to be prototypes of the final review.

These diagram shows how we select which activities to be placed to upper floor of the abandoned buildings concerned on size of activity and past function of them.

According to five pieces of plastic of Bubble milk tea, we compared them to architectural elements we were adding to the abandoned building.
