Synopsis
Lost in History Our horror film is based on a young teenage girl who is forced to live and experience a few of the horrible parts of history. These time periods are witchcraft, the kkk, the holocaust and experiencing life in an old fashion Asylum. In each scene will show pain, torture, fear, and tension that will cause fear for the audience. Each scene will be dark and powerful to really show the true aspects of horror. This film will be based upon a game, this means that in each time period the girls gets forced to live in she will have to find an object based on the certain period of that time, so for example when she’s living in the witchcraft she will be forced to find an object based on the period before time runs out. Obviously in each scene she will be dying each time, however if she doesn’t find the object before she gets killed, she is stuck and remains living in the time period for the rest of her life. So the aim is for her to get through the time periods that have been chosen so she can then live a happy, good life, so she needs to try incredibly hard to get each object before time runs out. The young girl will be living in the medieval times where witchcraft was a main thing. The film will begin with a shot of a candle burning bright with a voice in the background explaining the game that the girl has been forced to be in. We will then have a montage of images based on witchcraft with the voice in the background still speaking. The girl will then have a witchcraft book in her hand, turning the pages until she closes it and the game really begins. This scene will be on a countryside field where the girl with force, runs off to find this object before the time runs out, she will find it in a river and once found, will be faced with the withcraft leaders who capture her and drag her to the stake to be burnt and gruesomely tortured. Whilst tied to the stake we will show blood pouring from her faces whilst the members slit her face. The 5 leaders will then rotate themselves around the stake whilst the girl is screaming with fear and pain.
The following scene will then move onto the young girl waking up on a different field where she is forced to experience the torture from the group of kkk leaders, again she will need to find a new object relating to kkk in order to survive, so she needs to die with this object in order to go to the next time period. In this scene will also show a short flashback of the previous scene to help show how mentally challenging it was for the girl and how it has tortured her mind and she can’t stop thinking about it. She will try incredibly hard to find this object before time runs out. When the KKK leaders capture her after she has the object they will carry her to a tree whilst slitting her face making blood pour from her face, tie a rope around her neck and go to hang her on a tree. We also wish to add shots of a chess board whilst the leaders are carrying the girl to the tree to help show the difference between black and white and for a good symbolisation. After she gets killed the KU KLUX KLAN members will join together with crosses in their hands.
After this scene it will then go onto the holocaust, where the girl is a Jew and gets captured due to her religion. The scene will begin with the girl skipping and nursery rhymes playing in the background. Then a group of Nazis will come over trying to capture the girl, however she will need to run off to get the object relating to the holocaust before they capture her so she can move on to the next time period. Once captured she will be taken to a gas chamber to be gassed and killed. On the way the Nazi leaders will torture her, making it disturbing for the audience. Also in this scene we will have another flashback which will be the KKK scene to again show how torturing the event was for her. The following scene will then be based in an Asylum where the young girl gets captured and told she is insane. She will receive electric shock therapy and she will be dunked under water. She will be in a straightjacket, and trapped in small compacted room so she cannot harm herself or others. Again, she will need to make sure she gets this object before she dies so she can escape everything completely. Before all these horrible things happen she needs to find the object first, as she always needs to be captured with the object in hand in order to survive. The sub-genre for our film will be occult horror as we are including witchcraft, the kkk, the holocaust and asylums and we believe each scene will include things such as spiritualism and psychological, therefore we believe occult horror fits perfectly with our film.
We will be doing parts of a montage in some sections of our film and also heavily edited pieces to really enhance the scare and torture for the audience. Last terms research on the horror genre has really inspired and helped our work because firstly, having to watch a few horror films has helped us to pick out more ideas for our work and the history of horror has helped massively and taught us a lot and has helped us with what we wish to include. Learning about all the codes and conventions has helped massively also as we both know exactly what needs different aspects need to be included in order to create a well-made film. Our film will be a 15, suitable for age 15’s and over because we will be including lots of violence and gore, which we believe will not be suitable for viewers below that age.
