PCA’LA AT A GLANCE

PCA-LA is 350 diverse Porsche owners. We are young and old, novice and expert, slow and fast. PCA-LA is also a "region" of Porsche Club of America, the largest one marque non-factory club in the world. On a national level, PCA publishes an excellent monthly magazine ("Porsche Panorama") and generally provides a forum for learning. But the club part is local. And what PCA-LA bffers is an opportunity to share the exhilirating (and sometimes frustrating) experience of understanding, maintaining and driving one of the most unique automobiles of all time. rIIinut MEMBERSHIP MEETING

BOARD

~

MEETING

The first meeting of the year was held at the Original Bar-B-Que in Los Angeles and

Ron Ramage opened the meeting at 8s40 P.M. The board reports were as follows~

everyone was welcomed by our new President Ron Ramage. The Board reports began with Secretary, Geri Boothe, who asked that anyone attending or working any event report it to her so that they may receive proper credit toward participation or competition points. Trophys will be given at the end of the year to those having accumulated the most points. Our new Treasurer

Ken .}race reported the treasury balance is about $900.00. There was a discussion on how one dollar of each entrants fee to Zone 8 events is set aside for trophies by Don Kravig. Jose Ochoa reported that he sold $62.00 worth of merchandise at the January

Ken Grace reported that we are $400.00 richer due to the annual rebate from National PCA. After Membership chairman, Jose Ochoa introduced new members and guests, Rick Ports explained the Activities and how he has tried to stag~er the events so they wouldn’t interfere with other region’s and Zone 8 events. Tore Johnson reviewed the tour to Las Vegas, January 24th. Ron modeled the new club T-shirt by wearing it over his shirt with suit and tie. You can get yours from Jose for only $4.50. Newly designed name badges are also forth-coming. Technical chairman John Williamson asked for ideas on what kind o~ tech meetings members would like to have. Board chairman, Tore Johnson gave a list of committees beign set up for each competition, rallye and concours. He also paid a special "thanks" to Teri Colwell for arranging the excellent and very well attended Christmas party aboard the Princess Louise in San Pedro. A bid was made by Ron for people who have ideas or talents in certain areas to please offer their services to help with club events. After items "for sale" were announced, there was a break to view one of the 1975 silver 25th Anniversary Porsches displayed by Ron in the parking lot. The meeting concluded with our very knowledqeable Tech chairman John Williamson talking on cold weather care of your Porsche and engine-starting tips.

meeting, including thirteen T-shirts. He also checked into hiring SCCA corner workers for large speed events such as Willow and it was agreed to chzrge $I.00 extra per entrant so we could hire these experienced workers, thus providing a more safely run event. Publicity chairman Jack DiRosario said that the deadline for Porscherama in-puts would be at the board meeting. Posters that advertise PCA-LA, to be distributed at local Porsche repair shops were again discussed. The address of a permanent meeting place is all that is needed. Ruth Esbin has been checking into places suitable for our meetings. In Kurt Schweickhard’s absence, we discussed entertainment for the meetings and what makes a successful meeting. Activities chairman Rick Potts talked about the autocross at TRW the up-coming Sunday. He said we have dates for Willow (March 15-16) and also for Riverside (September ]3-14) He is lookinq for someone to chair the contours in March. ~ponsors for event~ were disc~e~ and money is tight £or everyone right now. L.A.P.D.’s dr~vers training course at Term~nal Island was suggested for the PCA-POC Challenge Cup Zla]om to be held in August. Tore Johnson gave a report on the competit~on committee which is preparing ~or the up-coming Zone 8 meeting. It was announced that a waiver must be signed by all club members at any PCA event, whether it be rallye, tour, or speed event. The next board will meet at Dean Going’s home.

Respectfully submitted, Geri Boothe, Secretary.
