OCTOBER

MEETING

Back to the schoolhouse for OCTOBER 12th, second Monday of the month, 8:00 pm, in the auditorium of ALEXANDRIA AVENUE SCHOOL, 4211 OAKWOOD AVE., LOS ANGELES. It is a pleasure to announce that our guest for the evening is a man who has been associated with PORSCHE cars for many years. Some of us have met him at one time or another in his capacity as Field Engineer for the western states distributor. Mr. Erhardt Zeidelmeyer will be returning fresh from his vacation in Europe where he spent some time in STUTTGART. We hope he will be at liberty to discuss the plans of PORSCHE for the 69 models and answer the questions many of us have relative to rumor and fact. Come expecting to be informed for Mr. Zeidelmeyer is well qualified to speak of PORSCHE. Guests are always welcome, come one, come all, SEE YOU THERE. RAY COOPER, vice president

The minutes were approved as published in the Sept. issue of PORSCHERAMA. Shirley Kornfeld, acting in the absence of treasurer Ray, reported a cash on hand balance of $1,124.08. Ray Cooper announced that the October Meeting will be held at the school house~ Alexandria Ave. School, and that the guest speaker for the evening will be Erhardt Zeidelmeyer, PORSCHE Representative. Ron Ramage, acting in the absence of Peter Luelsdorf, introduced Dale Boyd who presented trophies to the winners of the LUCKY 7 RALLY on Sept. 25th. The team of John and Susan Plunkett won first SOP Class, and Joe Schneider and Bill McInerny won first NAV Class. Plans for the October Tour to San Simeon and a visit to Hearst Castle wet outlined by George Gideon. The tour will be held the weekend of October 19 and 20. The tour fee plus hotel accommodations will be approximately $27. Tours will start at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. A dinner Sat. evening and a senic route home is also in store. A description of the September Tech Session to be held at Boggs and McBurney with a discussion conducted by Dick Kodani on car preparation for the November WILLOW SPRINGS Time Trials was given by Roger Wagner. Ron Ramage, editor of PORSCHERAMA, asked that all material for publication must be in by the second Wednesday in the month for printing the following month. The primary reason for this is so the newspaper will not become obsolete so quickly. Don Morris, membership chairman, stated that the membership Poster is mow complete and copies will be mailed to all those members not attending the October Meeting. After a short break the guest speaker for the evening was introduced. Mr. SCOOTER PATRICK gave a rather humorous account of the trials of being a PORSCHE racing driver. He spoke on some of the advantages and faults of the PORSCHE racing cars. He also gave a brief account of preparation for Sebring ’68 and some of the situations that occurred during the race. His talk was enhanced by a 16mm sound film of the 1967 race at Sebring. After the film a short question and answer period was conducted. The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 PM.

LUCKY 1

On th~ 25th of August,(a nice warm day) the PCA-LA and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Boyd staged the annual LUCK 7 RALLY. They promised not to send us out into the heat and they held their word. Starting from So. Pasadena, the rally route went to Laurel Canyon in the Valley, up to Mulholland Drive, over to Beverly Glen (making sure not to go down Coldwater Canyon), down to Sunset, and then up and around a devious side trip (where everyone got lost), up to Will Rogers State Park, Down to Pacific Coast Hiway, down the Freeway, right past Vasek Polak, thru Palos Verdes, over the Terminal Island Bridge (nice sight with a silver Targa ahead of you),over Signal Hill, and back on the freeway to Alhambra, at the Village. GRAND FINALE 68 On December 21, PCA-LA will present its annual dinner g dance at the LA CANADA COUNTRY CLUB, this year it is appropriately tagged as the GRAND FINALE. There will be the ever popular door prizes along with dance music provided by the club’s good friend Mr. DON RICARDO and his orchestra. There is a bar adjacent to the dinning room and a fantastic view of the lights of Los Angeles from.anywhere in the room. You can be sure the food served will be delicious, I can vouch for that myself for I enjoyed the excellent dinner last year. I doubt if you could findas good an entertainment buy in the LA area anywhere. Dinner, dancing and the atmosphere of being with good PORSCHE friends at Christmas time. At this time the exact fee for admission to this great time has not been set, but it will be approximately $17.00. The price and tickets to this event will be available at the next meeting, Oct. i~, at the Alexandria Avenue School.for Ron Ramage Ron Ramage, event chairman

1968 At the rate PCA-LA successes are piling up, the GRAND FINALE will be long remembered. The Boyd’s Lucky 7, forty-six car rally started off without a hitch and ended at a great spot to eat, drink, g be merry. Tech Chairman Wagner’s sparkplug and tune-up session at Trans Ocean was packed. Meeting chairman Cooper.’s arrangements for the September gathering resulted in a standing room only crowd to hear Scooter Patrick talk about really fast Porsche driving. Many thanks to Duane Alan for bringing Scooter to our meeting. In the upcoming column we have an excellent tour to San Simeon be= ing put on by George Gedeon, and Lewis Pulley. This will be a low pressure get-out-and-drive-the-Porsche weekend,.so mark your calen~ dar now. Our 2nd Annual Willow Springs Time Trials in November promises to be an interesting weekend for every-one-workers-spectators-and drivers alike. Plan ahead now, but when the time comes, BE THERE. Curt Kuebler, President We wish to welcome one of our new LITTLE PORSCHE PUSHER’S: CLAUDE OLIVIER MONA, proud parents are Alain g Inga Mona. Claude was born August 26, 1968; hasn’t yet been seen driving their red 911 but we soon expect to see him in the competition.
