Outstanding Parade Rally Performance

From PCNA Jeff Zwart, from Woody Creek, Colorado, driving the specially-prepared Luminox Watch Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car, won and set a new record in the 2WD Time Attack class in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak Hillclimb. Zwart, now a seven-time Pikes Peak class winner, not only broke Rhys Millen's 2009 class record by 38 seconds (after smashing his qualifying record by 18 seconds), but went faster than all but five of the entire field. Nobulhiro Tajima, from Japan, won the hillclimb overall in an eight-cylinder, turbocharged Suzuki 4WD one-off race car with an Unlimited Class entry. Zwart said the key to his victory was the confidence that build up every time he drove the car. "In my previous six victories - all in Porsche streetbased turbo cars - I spent most of my practice time trying to tame the car to fit this difficult course; With this Porsche 911 Cup car, it was clear to me from the beginning that the car was challenging me to drive my best, and I went faster every time I stepped behind the wheel. Each time I thought I was asking too much from the car, the Porsche responded and challenged me to push even harder," said Zwart.
Zwart also repeated his amazement from Friday's qualifying session that the normally-aspirated car didn't lose horsepower from its 9,000-foot-elevation start and the 14,000-foot finish line. A combination of the 450-hp, 3.8-liter Porsche Cup car engine and expert engine map adjustments from Porsche Motorsport North America gave Zwart the performance of a lifetime. Porsche Motorsport started with a 2007 Cup car, updated it to 2010 specifications, and installed a new 450 horsepower 3.8-liter engine currently in use in the Patron GT3 Challenge, American Le Mans Series Challenge Class, and the Porsche Supercup series. The engine management mapping was modified to perform well in high altitude since the event ranges from 9,390 feet to 14,110 feet above sea level, and ride height was increased for the gravel sections of the course. Zwart has now won his class at Pikes Peak - all in Porsches - in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2010, setting new class records four times. Most recently, before this weekend, he co- drove a Porsche Cayenne with Pikes Peak veteran Paul Dallenbach at the challenging TransSyberia Rally (Moscow to Mongolia) in 2007. He also has an SCCA PRO Rally Championship (1990) and a SCORE Baja 1000 class win (2004) to his credit..

Porsche Builds 25,000th Panamera Gran Turismo From PCNA ATLANTA - July 29, 2010 - Porsche's approximately 640 employees at the company's stateof-the-art assembly plant in Leipzig, Germany, recently built the 25,000th Panamera Gran Turismo. Just short of one year after Porsche began selling its all-new sports car for four, the craftsmen who assemble the Panamera in Leipzig celebrate this significant manufacturing milestone
PORSCHERAMA Porsche began selling the Panamera in September 2009 (October in North America). The company first rolled out its 400-horsepower V8 Panamera S and Panamera 4S and the 500horsepower twin-turbocharged Panamera Turbo, adding the V6-powered Panamera and Panamera 4 in May/June 2010. To date U.S. Porsche dealers have sold over 5,000 Panamera models in the
United States. In line with the Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy -- more performance on less fuel, increased efficiency and lower CO2 emissions -all models feature the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) seven-speed double-clutch gearbox and the Auto Start Stop function that saves fuel and reduces emissions by turning the engine off when it is not needed, such as sitting at a traffic light. None are subject to a gas-guzzler tax, and all meet the strict EU5 emission standard in Europe and the LEV standard in the United States. Next year Porsche will introduce a Panamera model featuring a hybrid drive system similar to what powers the 2011 Cayenne S Hybrid, which goes on sale this fall. Porsche's future also shines with yesterday's announcement to commence series development of the 918 Spyder, Porsche first plug-in hybrid super sports car.
The employees are not only proud to be a significant part of the successful launch of Porsche's fourth model line, they have reached this milestone while also producing the all-new, nextgeneration 2011 Porsche Cayenne SUV that is now in North American Porsche dealerships. The anniversary vehicle, a Ruby Red Panamera sporting an efficient Porsche designed and manufactured 300-horsepower 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, will be delivered to a customer in the USA. "The benchmark performance of our Panamera V6 models wins over our customers worldwide," said Bernhard Maier, Porsche's Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing. "Even in the USA, a country with a preference for V8 engines, they impress with their efficiency and sportiness. The Panamera combines these aspects with the comfort and exclusivity of the luxury class."

Since its U.S. introduction in October 2009, the Panamera has received numerous awards and recognition. The Panamera Turbo was named Playboy Magazine's 2010 Car of the Year. Others include an Edmunds Inside Line Editors' Most Wanted Award, inclusion in Edmunds.com's Top Recommended Vehicles list, two Car and Driver Editors Choice Awards (Sports Sedans and Luxury Sedans), inclusion in kbb.com's list of 2010 Top 10 Road Trip Cars, Bloomberg Car of the Year, the Most Inspired Design award in Ward's Auto Interior of the Year competition, About.com Cars Best New Cars of 2010, and NADAguides.com's Car of the Month for January 2010.
Green Light for Series Development of the 918 Spyder ATLANTA - July 28, 2010 - In its session today, the Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, gave the green light to series development of the Porsche 918 Spyder. Reflecting the overwhelming response from the public and customers to the Concept Study, the Supervisory Board gave Porsche's board of Management the mission to develop a production model based on the car already presented. This concept version of an ultra-high-performance mid-engined sports car with plug-in hybrid technology made its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and at Auto China in Bejing, hitting headlines worldwide. Michael Macht, President and Chairman of the Board of Management of Porsche AG: "Production of the 918 Spyder in a limited series proves that we are taking the right approach with Porsche Intelligent Performance featuring
the combination of supreme performance and efficient drivetrain concepts. We will develop the 918 Spyder in Weissach and assemble it in Zuffenhausen. This is also a very important com-
mitment to Germany as a manufacturing base." The Concept Study of the 918 Spyder allows CO2 emissions of just 70 g/km, corresponding to fuel consumption of 3.0 liter/100 km (94.1 mpg imp) in the New European Driving Cycle, on the one hand, and the performance of a super-sports car, on the other. This extremely efficient drivetrain technology forms a symbiosis in the 918 Spyder with truly outstanding design and high-tech motorsport achievements. Further product details of the 918 Spyder will be disclosed in the months to come.

near the hospital providing the treatment. That's where the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California become invaluable. At little or no cost, the family is able to stay in a comfortable home very close to the hospital. The evidence is clear that children who have family support during the treatment have a much better chance of recovery. The homes rely on charitable donations for their survival and every penny helps. Donations can be made directly to Ronald McDonald Homes ( www.rmhcsc.org). Your help really does make a difference.
