Ignite Explores Farmshed’s The Greenhouse Project 07.19.12 The Ignite Leadership Network young professionals got a behind the scenes look into Farmshed’s Greenhouse Project at their July Backstage Pass. Farmshed’s Executive Director, Layne Cozzolino, gave a tour of the grounds and shared information about their ‘in progress’ renovation of the former Sorenson’s Greenhouse site. Farmshed has been working since last October with many community partners to launch the project, an “allencompassing revitalization of a downtown garden center”. These organizations along with hundreds of volunteers are transforming the abandoned property into a community food center…housing an 11,000 square foot production greenhouse, community kitchen,
gathering space and business/learning center.” To make this a reality, Farmshed needs to replace the greenhouse glass on the site to reduce their energy load and “get growing” with polycarbonate sheets. Those in attendance were able to raise $250 to purchase one of these sheets and support this truly innovative project in our community. Learn more about the project at: http://www. farmshed.org/index.php/the-greenhouseproject. \\\\\
