CAP Services’ Business Development Program recently received a $5,000 grant from Incourage Community Foundation to support technical assistance services to business in south Wood County. Blenker Companies, Inc. celebrated 40 years of business in August. Founded by Peter Blenker in 1974 after a carpentry apprenticeship with Skippy Enterprises, Blenker started out by doing general contracting and remodeling projects. In the early 1990’s, Blenker began pre-manufacturing wall panels for the homes that he built; utilizing an indoor crew gave Blenker control over costs, the work environment, and the quality of the wall panels that were produced. Today, Blenker has expanded to an almost 90,000 square foot facility located in Amherst and has almost 60 employees.

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE ALDERMANIC DISTRIC 1 NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING The City of Stevens Point will be conducting the first neighborhood meeting for the comprehensive plan update on Wednesday, October 8 @ 6:30 PM in the County Annex building (see attached flyer), or view the website for more information: stevenspoint.com/compplan. The first neighborhood meeting focuses on Aldermanic District 1, however other persons outside of the district are welcome. Eleven neighborhood meetings are set to take place over the next few months in the aldermanic districts. A full meeting schedule will be available shortly. LEADERSHIP PORTAGE COUNTY » CLICK HERE TO VIEW LPC BLOG Leadership Portage County met for their second session on September 18th. The morning began with session leaders Melissa Sabel and Susan Schlicht, both LPC Alumni, welcoming participants to the Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Melissa Sabel presented on Agri-Tourism in Portage County. Gary Yeast, Ministry Health, then facilitated a session on Emotional Intelligence. Sessions on leadership development plans, communication/difficult conversations, and project/event/time management followed. After lunch, Nathan Sandwick, UW Extension, facilitated the early afternoon discussion on Agribusiness through out Portage County. The group then travelled to Paragon Farms for a tour of the potato processing facility. Thank you to the following individuals for helping make the opening retreat a success: Jenny Bula, Melissa Sabel, Nathan Sandwick, Susan Schlict, Gary Yeast and RPE/Paragon Farm staff.

They can be used at any business with a Portage County address and are available in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $25, $50 & $100.
