The overall appearance of the village is coherent. Thus, the main transform of buildings will take place in the public activity center for villagers, supplementing the indoor playgrounds for the village. Section A-A

Hotel in the Mountain
The hotel in the mountain will be set up to accomodate tourists from nearby scenic spots such as Mount Aishan and orchards in Qujialu Village. It will greatly increase the possibility of family vacation for more than one day. The hotel will be located near the lake in the mountain, with the landscape of water and mountain, the activities planned will be suitable for tourists of all age. The restaurant will provide agricultural products from Qujialu Village to widen channels for selling.

The museum will be set up near the side of the road to the village’s entrance. In the museum, there will be underground tunnel to visit the old quarry. The location of the museum mainly concerns the parking site, tourists’ center and the main traffic flow from nearby scenic spot, Mount Aishan. The construction of the museum will enhance the attraction of the local tourism from culture.

Glassy Box A glassy box is inserted between the principle and the wing room to connect inner spaces and improve the condition of natural light. Above the box, solar panels are installed to complement traditional energy.
Goal The ultimate goal is to enable the housing to accommodate multi –generation families, lend them to modern social life, as well as to exhibit traditional features .

Site Analysis Introduction
Study History Analysis
Jiaiz was named because of the water color in Jiaozhou Bay. Jiaozhou covers an area of 1,324 km2 and has a coastline of 25 km, governing six towns, six street subdistricts, with a population of 81.6 million.
Location Jiaozhou is a secondary center of Qingdao city in Shandong Peninsula. Located to the west of Jiaozhou Bay, it is an important node in Bohai Ecnomic Circle and Blue Economic Zone in Shandong.
Function Jiaozhou is leading an export-oriented economy. As a modern coastal city, Jiaozhou is a important manufacturing base and logistics center.

Transportation Analysis
Conclusion It can be seen that passageways of S210 north , G204 east and Hai'er Road south are enjoying a rapid growth of passing vehicles. Each of them are main access to Yantai, Qingdao and Huangdao, fully embodies the important position of Jiaozhou in Shandong Province. On the whole, regional transport system been basically constructed, however with several main arteries serving freight transportation,such as G204, are across the city, they may impair the daily traffic in urban area. 12
Ecology Analysis
Conclusion While urban and rural built area expands in recent years, the total amount of wetland falls drastically accordingly. Nevertheless, without the balance between built area and wetland, Jiaozhou may not enjoy a sustainable way of growth.
New land may contribute to a faster economic growth for Jiaozhou in a short term, however, in the long run, it may damage the whole marine system in and around Jiaozhou.
The green spaces are now missing between the urban and rural areas, which causes a discontinuity of landscape and a lack of recreational spaces for residents in Jiaozhou.

City Jiaozhou has several rivers crossing the city. Sanlihe Park is a local hot spot famous for its river view and open-air live shows.

Mountain Aishan Scenic Spot consists of Mount Aishan, East and West Stone. Besides the ancient Taoist temple on top of the mountain, both in East and West Stone exist precious stones rarely to be seen in China.

Collaborative Development Layout The city territory will be divided into four functional sectors consisting of several clusters.
Function The function of each sectors will be decided to be the most conducive to the construction and development of the new airport.
The ultimate goal for Jiaozhou is to lead the collaborative development of area to the north of Jiaozhou Bay.
Establish the efficient eco-agricultural demonstration base and agricultural logistics node.
Pay attention to protecting the environment and tourism resources, and developing economy in an eco-friendly way.
Change gradually from an area directed by industry-oriented development to a public service area supporting the airport region.sector.
Give full play to the advantages of ecoagriculture, and speed up the construction of synthetic logistics center.
Relocate industrial facilities from city centre. Develop trade and logistics to be an industrial development strategic node.

The site and its surroundings contain diversified facilities, covering potential customers of local residents, tourists and migrant workers.
Buildings in the site were built in different years which can basically be divided into three periods. Most of the buildings were built before 1990, representing the most prosperous time of an industrial age.
Some of the area at the south side of Yangshupu road has been reconstructed in recent years because of its waterfront view. But since Yangshupu Road is too wide to cross, these facilities are under-used. Similarly, the ferry terminal originally designed for tourists who can continue their journey in Pudong area is neglected most of time.
Despite historic meanings of buildings in the site, they are either deteriorated or out of use now, calling for an urban renewal. 23

Skyscrapers are emerging at the side of the river, without a proper communication to the old buildings, and blocking the waterfront view.

Part of the residential houses are torn down to build commercial buildings, which forces the local residents to move out.
- Promotion Footbridges crossing several blocks with a mature plan, boosting the value of land and buildings. - Safety The footbridges help improve traffic conditions both for pedestrians and vehicles. - Cityscape Depending on the coneccted buildings, a linking bridge itself can hold various types of social activites, becoming a significant symbol of the area.

Short-term Goal

Shape a space that are exible enough to hold a wide diversity of people and activities. Status Site has a spacing between the waterfront and innerland.The landmarks and facilities are isolated from each others.

To "stitch" means to mend or repair. As Yangshupu road in the site is thought to be the biggest hindrance ever to stop people from enjoying the waterfront view, neighborhoods along the waterfront are virturally fragmented and the city is cut off from the waterfront by Yangshupu road. To "heal" this situation, a reconnection between two sides of the road is needed. With the development of design, zones of programmatic focus are planned based on the current resources, including a planned retail and recreational area at the historic piers and factories, a transportation hub with a more convenient access to the ferry terminal, affordable residential area to accomodate original local residents who want to come back after the reconstruction and several public spaces to offer more greenery to the city.
Footbridges are planned to alleviate crossroads congested by cars and people to enhance the accessibility.
Combining the existed important nodes, new open spaces are induced into the site.
Studying the case of Hongkong, the new footbridge is planned to be that reconnection, which can provide: ①a more convenient access ⑥ a more creative water-viewing platform ③ a more relaxed sociative setting Besides, the footbridge itself can be introduced as a landmark to the site, attracting more investment to rebuild or maintain the historic residential buildings.
Existed facilities are to be embedded with new functions, and form a coherent walking space with new acitivity nodes.
By high-elevated footbridge lands are connected successively to develop a loop from the innerland to the waterfront.
Long-term goal
Shape a riverfront belt with diversity. Final Effect
This site is only a small part of the waterfront belt in Shanghai. The ultimate goal is to use the same design steps to stitch riverfront pieces together and finish the belt, and enhance the overall uality of the whole waterfront belt. Connect the existed facilities

Landscape Analysis As the concept, the activity nodes are selected and filled with new activities and functions. Accompanied with new greenways and open spaces, these nodes are hoped to be new hotspots of the city and revitalize the old site.
