Teuscher is a fine chocolatier which began in Zurich, Switzerland in 1932 by Dolf Teuscher Sr. and has since grown into 22 locations across the globe. This three-color rebrand takes inspiration from Swiss International Design, tourism posters and francs.
Snellen’s is a conceptual beer brand based on the experience of visiting the optometrist. The labels are based off of the Snellen eye chart, which become blurrier considering the alcohol by volume of the contents.
“On a crowded bus at midday, Raymond Queneau observes one man accusing another of jostling him deliberately. When a seat is vacated, the first man appropriates it. Later, in another part of town, Queneau sees the man being advised by a friend to sew another button on his overcoat.” These posters are based off of Raymond Queneau’s book, Exercises in Style, which takes the unexceptional story above and breaks it into different versions. For this project, I broke apart three of his variations and interpreted them using an appropriate typeface for each theme.
For my Independent Type Project, I wanted to take a highly popular typeface and see how much I could change it while keeping each letter consistent with the rest of the family. I decided to use Futura, since it has regained popularity in the last decade (i.e. Wes Anderson films), to see how many variations I could make.
Festifools is an annual parade in Ann Arbor, Michigan during April featuring giant papier-mâchÊ puppet creatures created by hundreds of participants in the community. This website focuses on the bright, outlandish colors used in the festival.
In 1971, Johnny Morris was sick of the lack of quality fishing tackle available, so he rented a U-Haul and traveled cross country to find the best fishing equipment. He began selling his finds in his father’s liquor store, which was on the way to The Ozarks, a popular fishing destination. Since then, the store has become a top retailer for hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities. This logo utilizes the A by incorporating the location where the store has its roots, The Ozarks, as well as having the imagery of a fish head.
Home Depot is a home improvement store that thrives on its helpful and friendly atmosphere, giving customers the confidence to conquer their next project. This logo shows the bright side of improving your home, while incorporating a the metaphor of a saw blade as the sun on the horizon.
