INTRODUCTION

A NOTE FROM US Independent film is coming to Portland October 14-20. We are screening more independent movies than most theaters screen in a year. Here are some highlights: • We are screening over 100 films from around the world—over 53% were directed by women! • You can catch a Portland-made film almost every day of the Festival. • We’ve added Veterans Voices. Almost every day of the Festival you can watch a movie made by or about Veterans. This culminates in a special screening of local Portland Veterans screening their newly created films with the Patton Veterans Project, with a special appearance and reception with General S. Patton’s grandson sponsored by Comcast. • To celebrate Indigenous Day, we are screening several films about or made by Indigenous filmmakers.

• Our #FutureFilmmakers program sponsored by Comcast is back with six new monster movies made by area kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Portland. We will have a reception with cookies and treats right after their screening. Special thanks to Comcast NBC Universal and all of our sponsors including Hi-Lo Hotel, Koerner Camera, Pepsi Co, SAG-AFTRA, Plum Tree Mortgage, Oregon Film, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Gearhead Production Rentals and other amazing sponsors located on page 10. High fives to all of the amazing volunteers, staff, filmmakers, speakers and jury that make this Festival possible. Whatever film genre you prefer, The Portland Film Festival has great movies to offer everyone. Grab a ticket and enjoy!

OUR MISSION Portland Film Festival is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to nurturing filmmakers and audiences, and celebrating the power of a good story. The Festival focuses on the people, ideas, technology, skills and artistry behind filmmaking and provides both entertaining and educational opportunities to the public.
