L1wasalsofascinatedwiththeroutebecauseIbelievebothPortlandandMontrealcould bebetterconnected,asweoncewere.YearsagoIhadlunchwithAnitaStickney,oneof thefoundersofDeeringIceCream,andshehadventuredtheopinionthatPortlandwould beahugecitvrightnowifMainehadbeenaCanadianprovince,asPortlandisMontreal's closestroutetothesea.We'reagashofsaltair.Nowondertheyloseus.Ilowfoolishwe havebeennottocultivatethisconnection.
