Nature Day Camp Volunteer - Jr Naturalist
Age 13-17 Responsible, energetic, and patient teens who enjoy nature and have experience working with children are encouraged to apply to be a volunteer Jr Naturalist with Nature Day Camp. Jr Naturalists commit to one day of training and then two weeks of volunteering during the summer. Jr Naturalists work directly with the children, supervised by paid staff, and are given opportunities to develop teaching, leadership, and group facilitation skills. All teens who apply should have an enthusiasm for nature, have patience with children, and be open to learning new skills. Please note: All Jr Naturalists accepted to the program are required to attend one full day of training from 8:30am-4:00pm at Mt Tabor Park on either June 25, 26, or 27. Teens will be trained in child development, communication skills, role-modeling, and instruction techniques. Teens accepted into the program must commit to volunteering for two weeks. (Any open spots after June 1, 2019 will be offered to teens who are interested in adding a third week of volunteering.) The $30 per week fee helps cover the staff cost to lead the training day. TEENS WILL NOT BE TURNED AWAY BECAUSE OF INABILITY TO PAY. If the fee is a barrier, please let us know, and it will be waived. TEENS MUST APPLY FIRST!
