MEET OUR TEACHERS! CHRISTA BAKER I have a degree in early childhood education and have worked with kids of all ages for more than 28 years. Teaching and spending quality time with children is a passion of mine. I am a mother of six children ranging from 23 to 6 years of age. Needless to say, I love kids! My family moved from Springfield, Illinois to Oregon 4 years ago. We love it here and Hillside has become an important part of my life here in Portland! As a preschool teacher my goal is to foster independence in children. This allows them to become more confident in themselves and creates a sense of self-worth and achievement.
ADRIANA WILLIAMSON Portland has been home to my family for over three generations; my mother, aunts, siblings and myself all attended Mt. Scott Community Center preschool. My grandma taught preschool and I chose to follow in her footsteps. In 2014, I was hired on with Parks & Recreation at Peninsula Park Community Center where I worked as a camp counselor, an after-school coordinator and taught preschool and pre-kindergarten. I am currently going on my 5th year of teaching. I like to create a play-based classroom and have a mindfulness approach to my teaching. I am always open to new and fresh ideas. I love including a wide range of art, books, yoga, songs, and hands-on projects throughout the school year. I believe all children can flourish in school and learn in their own unique way.
RENE COOPER As a child, I went to a Parks & Recreation preschool in Studio City, California, taking my first ballet and tap classes at two years old. I continued my dance, musical theatre and arts education through-out high school at Hamilton Music Academy. My love for early childhood development began in 2006 when I became a preschool teacher, finding my passion for inspiring the social and emotional growth of children. I obtained my occupational certificate in the field of preschool teacher and infant caregiver. I believe learning and collaboration are ongoing and thrive through sharing.

NEW SENIOR RECREATION SPRING WORKSHOP Location: Multnomah Arts Center 7688 Southwest Capitol Highway | Portland
Remember. Relive. Create. | Age 60+ If you enjoy working with crafts, writing poems, short stories, novels or your memoirs, oral storytelling, singing or playing an instrument, or engaging in another creative medium such as photography, painting, clay, drawing, creative stitchery, scrapbooking, etc., this interactive workshop will provide many ideas for future projects. We will look at pictures, listen to music, see clips of films, TV shows and commercials of the decade, and much more, to get the creative juices flowing. In the process, you will not only journey back through your own life, but you will hear the memories and experiences of others. You will then express your own memories and experiences in the medium of your choice and share it with the class. In addition to having fun reminiscing and sharing in a sense of community, hearing others’ experiences could enhance your own projects and take them to a whole new level of selfexpression. The first workshop will focus on the '60's and will end with a decade-themed party! Thursday $46
