Little Artists Preschool

Multnomah Arts Center proudly announces the launch of our arts-based educational preschool—Little Artists Preschool. A center for high-quality, arts-focused early childhood education for ages 2, 3 and 4, our school provides guided instruction in the use of art materials and techniques in visual arts, dance, music and theatre. Little Artists Preschool is a nurturing environment that encourages each child’s individual style of creative expression. We strongly believe that arts education is fundamental to the development of a healthy, happy and engaged mind.

Portland Parks & Recreation Parent & Toddler Art Classes These classes offer a process-oriented art experience. While providing instruction in the use of art materials and techniques, our teachers guide students through the creative process in an effort to elicit and encourage each child’s individual style of visual expression. Rather than simply following directions to construct prescribed art “products,” children in our classes learn to trust their own creative impulses while being supported by their parent or guardian. We recommend both adult and child wear grubbies as these classes can be messy. All materials are included. Cleanup is part of visual arts classes. Once classes are full, we cannot accept extra students.

Portland Parks & Recreation Theatre Classes for Youth Studio Theatre—The Adventures of Oliver Twist

Ages 9 - 16

An orphan form birth, Oliver seems destined for a life of hunger, misery and loneliness. Sold to an undertaker and forced to sleep among the coffins Oliver escapes only to become immersed in the London underworld of teen-age thieves, pickpockets and dancehall girls. But it isn’t all bad! Don’t forget the rich young ladies and benevolent gentlemen who help Oliver eventually find family and fortune. Based on Charles Dickens’ novel and his fabulous array of Victorian era characters this play has been adapted with the usual academic reverence and comic twist you’ve come to expect from the studio theatre. Confession with Benefits I thought to dream you a paradise, ensuring your rapture and your clinging of me. Weeks I shut out all else but the parade of other worlds, where you would wave a little flag and sit down freely in any proud seat. I distressed this gift, my sweet, what would suit? Each oasis I built I soon blew away— no lake there, but a kiddie pool where small dogs went to drown and nightfolk scavenged our garden bare. Flat, this prayer I had prayed for you. Dogged from my overreaching dreams, I opened my eyes to everything.
