Portland Parks & Recreation recognizes that some residents of the City of Portland require financial assistance to attend our summer camps. To help make recreation accessible to all, scholarships are available for those who qualify. Contact your preferred program location to get more information and to apply for a scholarship prior to registering for camp. Find applications online at portlandoregon.gov/parks/scholarships.
Summer camp cost can add up over the summer. You can pay the entire balance at the time of registration or you can make a down payment per week of camp. There is a minimum down payment, per camp week, of $15 for camps less than $199, $25 for camps over $200, and $50 for Environmental Education camps. You may then schedule monthly payments to pay for camp fees over a longer period. Final camp payments are always due one week before the camp start date. To help you manage your payments, we offer and encourage automatic payments to be deducted from your bank card for monthly payments, or the Monday, one week, before the start of camp. Customers may request a payment plan without credit/ debit automatic payments, at time of registration, in person or over the phone with a customer service representative.

If you need to withdrawal from a camp, a partial refund will only be issued if notice is given seven (7) days prior to the camp start date. Refunds will not be given for withdrawals less than seven (7) days prior to the camp start date. A cancellation fee will be applied to each withdrawal, totaling $15 for camps $199 or less, $25 for camps $200 and over, and $50 for Environmental Education camps. Prepaid materials, including admission and transportation for field trips, will not be refunded for withdrawals taking place less than seven (7) days in advance of the camp start date.

Inclusion Services provides accommodations for people that need any additional supports or assistance to take part in PP&R classes and activities that are in their chronological age group. Activities are done in an inclusive setting.
Portland Parks & Recreation now uses ePACT to securely collect and manage critical emergency information for camps. Using ePACT replaces the need to fill out multiple paper forms and ensures we have the most up-to-date and accurate contact and medical information in case of emergency. Expect to receive one email invite per child from ePACT. To avoid duplication, one parent/guardian (one email address) should accept the invites and complete the detailed emergency record for ALL family members. Please make sure we have a good email address for you.

COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER 3350 SE Francis Street • 503-823-3177 Youth and Teen Summer Camp Free Range Music
Ages 12-18 Don’t be chicken when it comes to being creative! Spend a week (or two or three) developing repertoire with a small ensemble in all the genres you are inspired to learn more about, and gain confidence in being able to ‘make your own music.’ We’ll match you with other students near your age and experience level, coached by a professional who plays in the group, too. Express yourself while learning everything it takes to successfully collaborate, jam, compose, rehearse, record, and perform with others. Prerequisite: At least two years playing your instrument(s), ability to play scales in a few keys, name notes, and play in time.
ARTS & CULTURE—COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER
To register for one, two or three weeks of camp, fill out our “Free Range Music” Summer intake form on the facing page or online (portlandoregon.gov/parks/cmc), telling us about your past experience and current musical goals. We’ll set you up for a memorable experience playing a combination of originals and unique covers chosen by the group, building skills that last a lifetime, and making music you can call your own. All groups will have a chance to make a professional recording of their music by the end of the week, and learn basics of audio engineering. Groups will also have the opportunity to perform in one or more PP&R parks as part of Summer Free For All. Genres that can be explored include Jazz, Pop, Folk, Classical, Blues, Swing, Experimental, Alternative, Latin, Mariachi, Soul, and more. All instruments and vocalists welcome. Please bring a nutritious, peanut-free lunch each day. Refund only if not placed in a group. Need-based scholarships are available at CMC (including for non-residents) thanks to additional non-profit support. Teen Volunteer Opportunities Nature Day Camp Volunteer – Jr Naturalist
Age 13-17 Responsible, energetic, and patient teens who enjoy nature and working with children are encouraged to apply to be a volunteer Jr Naturalist with Nature Day Camp. Jr Naturalists commit to one day of training and then two weeks of volunteering during the summer. Jr Naturalists work directly with the children, supervised by paid staff, and are given opportunities to develop teaching, leadership, and group facilitation skills. All teens who apply should have an enthusiasm for nature, have patience with children, and be open to learning new skills. Please note: All Jr Naturalists accepted to the program are required to attend one full day of training from 9:30am-3:30pm on either June 23, 24, 25 or July 15 at Mt Tabor Park or on July 22 at Sellwood Park. The $30 fee helps cover the staff cost to lead the training day. Teens will not be turned away because of an inability to pay. If the fee is a barrier, please let us know, and it will be waived.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Teens must apply first, and once the application is received, we will call you to register. Find the Jr Naturalist application at portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/666527 or call the Environmental Education office at 503-823-3601. M-F • 8:15am-3:30pm (8:00am on Monday) Mt. Kids' Farm Camp – Sauvie Island Center
Sauvie Island Center’s Farm Camp, in partnership with Peninsula Park Community Center, is an outdoor experience where children are outside all day, every day soaking up the fresh air and sunshine. Each day at camp is a new adventure as we explore Topaz Farm, our new site on Sauvie Island just one mile from our former site at Howell Park. Through traditional camp activities—like games, camp songs, arts and crafts and more—we’ll focus on different parts of the Sauvie Island Center curriculum including: • Soil Exploration: Dig in and learn about healthy soil. • Healthy Cooking and Eating: Harvest fresh produce and cook with a local chef. • Seed to Harvest: Plant, tend and harvest the Grow Lunch Garden. • Plant Parts Investigation: Explore the farm and plants we can eat. • Wildlife and Food Web: Who else has been foraging on the farm? • Pollination Station: Meet these hard-working farm friends. Campers meet at Peninsula Park Community Center and bus to/from Sauvie Island daily. Scholarship Assistance? Yes! We have a limited number of spots in the camp for families who qualify for financial aid! Call 503-823-3153 for details. M-F • 9:00am-5:00pm Grades 1-3 Date
