Glassblowing is a fascinating thing to watch. The symposium culminates with an exhibition of works made during the week.

The Jevgeni Mravinski Music Festival was initiated in 1995 to remember the stay of this outstanding 20th century conductor in Narva and the Narva-Jõesuu seaside resort. The famous maestro used to come here in holidays, to rest from his work with St Petersburg orchestra and professorship at the conservatoire. The programme includes symphonic, choir, as well as chamber music by mainly Estonian and Russian performers, but also by artists from other countries.

The festival celebrates 150 years from the first song festival in Saaremaa. This year’s event focuses on the creation myths of the island and also of various other islands in the world. The jury selects 20 singers for the final round, who besides a freely chosen piece have to sing one song by Valgre.

The Pärnu music festival and the Järvi Academy continue the long tradition in Pärnu. The artistic adviser is Paavo Järvi. It is primarily an orchestral festival, as musicians from all over the world come and play in the orchestra, but it also presents excellent soloists. Järvi Academy offers high-level music education to many young musicians.
The second Kidise Pond Music takes place in Kidise Music Farm. The place is mysterious, in the middle of nowhere. Ten kilometres from the big road, at the end of the power line, amidst raccoons, cranes and wild boars. It is a primordial and untouched place, where good people, great music, good food and nature meet.

Some orchestral music, specially written for the occasion by composers from Harju County, is performed by several orchestras with a total of several hundred musicians. Kabli Sunset Festival takes place in a small coastal village Kabli and other villages nearby. During summer and the festival, the coastal villages become lively cultural and holiday places. The festival program offers events for four weeks. Different age and interest groups are welcome: there are concerts from classical music to jazz, sophisticated salon evenings, original village dance parties, activities on the beach, literature and film events.

In August, cannons and guns are fired, while the bastions are shroud-
ed with clouds of powder smoke in Narva Castle. “Narva Battle” is on! The festival is a reconstruction of one of the major battles in the Great Northern War (1700-1721). The battle between the Russian and the Swedish troops takes place for the 10th time in 2013. The participants of military historical clubs from different countries reconstruct the events in Narva Castle.
