Breakfast in hotel and check-out. Depending on your time schedule visit Lisbon downtown area, Rossio Square, walk towards Praça do Comércio via Rua Augusta and take tram nº28 from Martim Moniz for a quick tour of central Lisbon. Make sure you visit São Jorge Castle, Portas do Sol Belvedere and Sé Catedral (Lisbon cathedral). Continue on tram nº28 and get off at Praça de Camões. At Chiado stop at the famous Brasileira Coffee Shop for light refreshments. Walk up Rua da Misericordia and stop to appreciate the view of downtown Lisbon from São Pedro de Alcântara belvedere. Drive to Santana to see the traditional and colorful thatched roof houses and pay a visit to Madeira Theme Park. Appreciate the natural landscape the Laurissilva Forest which covers 15,000 hectares, 12,000 of which are in a Nature Reserve and visit the Ecological Park an area of natural heritage located north of Funchal, in Pico do Arieiro. Drive to São Vicente and Porto Moniz. Another Madeira Island experience is to ride a toboggan from Monte down to Funchal in about 10 minutes on a total course of 2 km (1,2mi), reaching at times a speed of 48 km/hour (29mi/hour) (adventurous, yet safe, an ‘oldfashioned’ toboggan ride makes your way down from Monte the perfect contrast to the high-technology cable car going up to Monte); taste the locally produced Madeira wine, try the Bolo do Caco (this is a type of bread made of wheat similar to a Crumpet), Bolo de Mel (heavy cake made with almonds, sugar cane syrup and spices) and the Madeira Espetada (barbecued meat on-a-stick) served with a side of fried corn bread.
