Paradip Port Achieves Yet Another 100 MMT Mark in Cargo Handling New Delhi Port Wings News Network aradip Port, one of the leading major ports under the administrative control of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, achieved the handling 100 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo fourth year in row. Despite COVID-19 crisis, it once again repeated the feat by crossing the 100 MMT mark in succession and achieved cargo throughput of 100.30 MMT till 21 February 2021 in the current fiscal. The above achievement of 100 MMT of cargo again by PPT in the current fiscal is despite global COVID-19 crisis and 2 of its existing berths are not available for handling of cargo these are under mechanization process. For the above feat, Shri Vinit Kumar, Chairman, PPT congratulates the user industries, Stevedores, Steamer Agents, Trade Unions to have their continued faith on the ability of the Port to serve them. will inaugurate the Maritime India Summit-2021 on March 2. The event is being organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) in virtual mode because of COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing press conference through virtual mode on 22 February, Shri Vinit Kumar, Chairman, PPT said that the Maritime India Summit (MIS) is going to provide a powerful platform for international collaboration. It will cover various aspects of shipping. PPT is going to put up a pavilion in virtual mode, in which more than a billion dollar investment opportunity will be shown. On the 3rd March, in collaboration with Govt. of Odisha, PPT will organise a special session on “Investment Opportunities in Odisha”. Soliciting the co-operation of media fraternity to make the event grand success, he also appealed them apart from publicizing, to register for the participation in the event.
